Emmerdale star Lucy Pargeter has revealed how her character Chas Dingle will be written out of the show.

The popular actress is taking time out from the Dales following the happy news that she's pregnant with twin girls.

Lucy's real-life joy means that Chas will be heading out of the village for a while and she'll be taking Liv Flaherty with her, as young actress Isobel Steele is doing her GCSEs this year.

This also means that Chas and Liv won't be around when Aaron Dingle finally gets released from prison in a few weeks' time.

Lucy explained: "Chas receives news from Liv's mum Sandra, who's had an accident over in Ireland.

"Chas is Liv's 'acting mother' while Aaron is in prison, so she decides to go to Ireland and takes Liv over to see her mum.

"It'll be me gone from the show for a while - but not too long! I'll be back soon."

Just before Chas goes, Emmerdale fans can look forward to an emotional heart-to-heart, as she finally gets a chance to rebuild her relationship with her mum Faith.

Debbie Dingle is responsible for getting the pair together when she tricks them into spending time in each other's company at Butler's Farm.

Chas and Faith pull no punches as they discuss the past, but just when it looks like they've finally made up, Faith suddenly pulls away when her daughter tries to hug her.

As Chas feels rejected once again, why did Faith pull away and is there any chance they can properly reconcile?

Lucy added: "Chas and Faith's relationship hasn't been good, really. They've been at loggerheads and Chas is determined that she isn't going to make things up with Faith. She'd much rather Faith went back to wherever she came from, even though everyone else is warming to her now.

"But next week, Debbie invites Chas up for lunch at the farm and she promises that Faith won't be there. Chas goes up with food and wine, thinking that they're going to have a lovely afternoon. On entering the farm, there Faith is!

"Debbie doesn't give them much of an opportunity to go anywhere. She forces them to sit down and have a chat."

Explaining why Chas is still so annoyed with Faith, Lucy added: "Everything stems from Chas's upbringing. Faith left them with Shadrach and disappeared, and I don't think her parenting skills were particularly brilliant when she was around!

"Unfortunately Chas also holds resentment towards Faith for things that aren't necessarily her fault. She pins all the mistakes that she's made with Aaron on Faith too, because she hasn't had anyone to show her how to be a good parent."

Emmerdale star Lucy Pargeter has given birth to twin girls.

The star, who has been in the ITV soap for 15 years, welcomed the new arrivals last week with her partner Rudi Coleano.

The couple already have an 11-year-old daughter, Lola.

"Lucy Pargeter and Rudi Coleano are delighted to announce the birth of their twin girls who were born on Thursday April 13," an Emmerdale spokeswoman said.

"All are happy and healthy and Lola is delighted to have finally become a big sister."

Pargeter, 40, plays Chastity Dingle, who has been temporarily written out of the Yorkshire Dales-set show while she is on maternity leave.

Chas has been taking care of Liv Flaherty (Isobel Steele), her son Aaron's (Danny Miller) half-sister while he is in prison as her mother lives in Ireland.

She decided to take Liv to see her mother after she had an accident.

Pargeter said recently: "It'll be me gone for a while, but not too long, depending. I'll be back very soon.

"Fictionally, I'm in Ireland, having a lovely summer."

Think it was Mauritius ...... daft place as surely she could have had the accident in Ireland, it would be much more reasonable for Chas and Liv to stay there than on an Indian Ocean island

Emmerdale will be revisiting Paddy Kirk's relationship with Chas Dingle when she returns to the village later this year.

Chas is currently living away from the Dales, after Lucy Pargeter – who plays her – went on maternity leave, having given birth to twin girls.

However, producer Iain MacLeod has confirmed that the show will continue to explore Paddy and Chas's story as he decides to make a go of things with her upon her comeback.

Fans will remember that Chas and Paddy briefly attempted to rekindle their spark earlier in the year, but their relationship never really took off prior to her exit.

Since then, Paddy has been a pillar of support to his ex-wife Rhona Goskirk – who has faced a harrowing time after being raped by her husband Pierce Harris.

But even though Paddy will lay his heart on the line with Rhona next week, it doesn't look like a reunion between the former couple is on the cards as he'll be hoping to pick up where he left off with Chas when he sees her again.

"At the point where Chas returns, it seems that Rhona is not an option," Iain told TV Times.

"So the story then becomes, 'How do you pursue a new relationship when the woman you thought you'd spend the rest of your life with lives up the road and runs a business with you?'

"You'll just have to wait and see how this love story involving these three characters pans out."

Was thinking about when Chas returns. Is there anyone else beside Paddy that would be a better love interest, can they bring someone new in just for her? Maybe Chas, Harriet, Rebecca, Charity, Vanessa, Rhonda and Pearl? LOL

Maybe that Daz would be a good match for Vanessa?

What about the police detective who liked her or Frank?

I don't think she works well with Paddy as a couple, better as friends
