Exclamation Daisy's mum Christine (Amy Robbins)

Coronation Street has cast Daisy Midgeley's mother for an upcoming storyline, with Amy Robbins taking on the role from January.
While specifics on the story are being kept under wraps, it's being reported that the character Christine will shake things up on the cobbles, initially appearing for a couple of months with potential for more appearances down the line.
Robbins has appeared on a number of soaps before, including Emmerdale, Holby City, Casualty, Doctors, Hollyoaks and EastEnders.
Her sister Kate previously played the role of Jen Glover on EastEnders and is the mother of I'm a Celebrity star Emily Atack, making Amy the latter's aunt.
Recent scenes on the soap for Daisy (Charlotte Jordan) have centred on her relationship with Daniel Osbourne. Last month saw her forget about the anniversary of Sinead Tinker's death as she and Daniel discussed moving in together.
Daisy felt insecure about living in a house that felt like a shrine to Daniel's late wife, Jordan recently telling Digital Spy and other media: "She's definitely in love with him and she sees them building a future together. She'd just like them to have a fresh start somewhere.
"She doesn't want to feel like she's constantly in Sinead's shadow."
The star added: "It's not a place that she wants to live in. Rob [Mallard] and I often joke that the place is literally a Sinead shrine.
"There are about 11 pictures of Sinead, the hallway is full of all her sewing things, her stuff is literally everywhere, so I don't think it's something Daisy would want to wake up to every day. It's all a bit much for her."
However, she has felt ready to take on the challenge of forming a family with Daniel and his son Bertie.
How will Christine's arrival change things?

Why do all new characters "shake up the cobbles"?

Coronation Street looks to be filming a return for Daisy Midgeley's mum Christina Boyd, played by Amy Robbins.

The Sun reports that the actress was seen leaving the soap's set in the week, and will be back for just one episode, but the door is open for her to pop back for brief appearances every now and then.

Christina was last seen at Daisy's hen do, when Daisy informed her mum that she wouldn't be welcome at the wedding.

Since then, Daisy has been involved in a lot of stories with Ryan Connor. Following the acid attack (which was meant for her), Daisy and Ryan shared a secret kiss and both of them caught feelings for each other, although they've been keeping their distance from each other since Daisy is with Daniel Osbourne.

Ryan's current storyline sees him set up an x-rated account on an Only Fans-style platform for money and validation (he's also taking steroids), something that Daisy will discover.

Speaking about whether the two would actually make a good couple, Daisy actress Charlotte Jordan exclusively told Digital Spy that: "I just don't know how healthy [Daisy and Ryan's] relationship is ? given their history, and given the fact that she had no romantic intentions towards him before the acid attack.

"Now because she feels responsible for him and it's a bit of trauma bonding, I don't know how much longevity that's really got. I hope fans can forgive her for what she does!

"Daisy is getting very confused about her feelings. She wasn't looking for romantic feelings and she didn't intend for it to happen. She's got more than platonic feelings for him, but it doesn't change her feelings for Daniel. She's just very confused."

Coronation Street has confirmed that Daisy Midgeley will receive an unwelcome surprise in upcoming scenes, as her mum Christina Boyd returns to the cobbles.

Christina was last seen late last year, when she agreed to help Daisy hide her affair with Ryan Connor from her fianc? Daniel Osbourne - a secret which soon came out regardless.

In scenes that will air on Wednesday, March 27, Christina makes plans to come and visit Daisy again, texting her daughter to announce that she will be coming to stay for two weeks.

This leaves both Daisy and her stepmum Jenny Connor horrified, as they have been keeping up a pretence that it was Christina who lent them the money to buy The Rovers Return, in order to hide the fact that they secretly used the money that Stephen Reid stole from Carla Barlow.

Ryan is shocked when he sees Daisy telling her mum that she isn't welcome at the pub and suggesting that she goes to visit her friend in Amsterdam instead.

Later on, Christina shows up at The Rovers anyway, explaining that her passport has expired and she has nowhere else to stay.

Ryan insists that she should stay and have a drink, unknowingly putting his foot in it when he says that it's the least they can do after she lent Daisy and Jenny so much money.

Oblivious Christina is intrigued by his words - is she about to blow Daisy and Jenny's cover?

Actress Charlotte Jordan, who plays Daisy, previously confirmed that her character is "terrified" of being caught out over her lies, although she doesn't necessarily feel guilty about the way she's used the stolen money.

"Daisy is viewing the money as Stephen's money instead of Carla's money. Otherwise, it's a bit too personal and a bit too close to home," she explained, adding: "She thinks he was a bad guy who didn't deserve it anyway and at least Daisy can put it to good use, which is ultimately going to help herself as well as the community."
