i think its part of the storyline rather than a personal decision. apparently shes actually ginger naturally anyway rather than brunette
Maybe Stacey wants to break with the Slater "brunette" legacy?

    Detailed Spoilers

    Max and Tanya reunite
Airs on Monday, June 15 2009 at 20:00 BST on BBC One

With a secret date arranged, Max surprises Tanya with a pair of tickets to a concert. Bradley, meanwhile, isn't on top form and admits to Max that he wants to divorce Stacey. In a bid to lighten his son's mood, Max hands over the concert tickets so that he and Syd can have a good night. Later, Bradley reveals the tickets to Syd, but his mind and the discussion remains on the topic of divorce. Syd, however, insists that he should make the decision for himself, as opposed to her and Noah.

Later, Max tells Tanya that he's handed the concert tickets to Bradley, prompting her to take charge of arranging their evening. When Max turns up at the house, he's surprised to find Tanya dressed up and oysters on the menu. As she goes to kiss him, he thinks his luck is in. Tanya, however, admits that she's only looking for some fun. Max isn't impressed, but he soon manages to convince her that they should be back together. Realising that they have no condoms, Max goes to the shop to buy some but on his way, he's stunned when he bumps into a dishevelled blonde walking through the market - it's Stacey.

Meanwhile, Zainab's not impressed that Syed's planning to move in with Amira. Later, Syed asks Janine if he can let the room in her flat again, but she's completely unaware that Amira's moving in, too. Amira, however, has second thoughts and admits to Syed that they should probably live separately for the time being.

Elsewhere, Bianca's pleased to learn that Whitney plans to resit her GCSEs; Denise isn't happy that Chelsea's ended her relationship with Theo; Libby asks Darren to keep Whitney company; Chelsea and Theo say an awkward goodbye; everyone seems to have forgotten Christian's birthday; Ronnie receives a text from Roxy; Bianca gets the wrong end of the stick when she hears that Whitney plans to spend time with Darren; Christian's old school friend James turns up on the Square; and Minty, Manda, Ronnie and Jack arrange a cheeky game of strip poker.

    Jean's concerned for Stacey
Airs on Tuesday, June 16 2009 at 19:30 BST on BBC One

A dishevelled and agitated Stacey frantically rings the doorbell at the Slaters' and Jean's stunned when she opens the front door to see the state of her daughter. She takes her into the front room and attempts to discover what happened to her, before noticing her cut and blistered feet. All the while, Stacey's eyes glaze over as she stares into thin air. Jean goes to the kitchen and cries, as she realises that Stacey's suffering the very same symptoms of bipolar that she did. Stacey soon opens up to Jean and confesses that she's been working in a club.

When Charlie and Mo arrive home, Jean tries to keep them away from Stacey, but when Mo barges past her into the living room, she can't believe that she's staring at the same Stacey that left a few weeks ago. Jean eventually agrees with Mo's suggestion that Stacey go to see Dr Jenkins, though Stacey isn't impressed and starts to cry. Tanya soon arrives, but Mo quickly throws her out for interfering. Jean leads Stacey into the Square gardens and tells her teary-eyed daughter that they'll battle through her problems together. Tanya, meanwhile, looks on from across the Square, evidently concerned for her.

Meanwhile, Chelsea's not impressed in the slightest by her mother and father's arrival at R&R - especially when she spots Denise dancing to 'Can't Touch This'. Later, Ellis sends over a bottle of champagne to Denise and Lucas, before Chelsea properly introduces them to her boyfriend. A drunken Denise knocks Chelsea's bag to the floor and when Lucas picks up the contents, he's shocked to see a wrap of cocaine. Pocketing the drugs, he hands back Chelsea's bag and takes Denise home. Later, Lucas confronts his daughter about the drugs. She claims that one of Ellis's friends gave her it, but Lucas knows otherwise. Later that night, Ellis leaves Chelsea a voicemail and as he hangs up, he's struck on the back of the head - by Lucas.

Elsewhere, Tanya tells Max he's partly to blame for the state Stacey's in; Janine's shocked to realise that Amira's moving in, not Syed; Christian celebrates his birthday with James in the club; Christian returns to the house to find Peter and Lucy drinking with their friends, so he promptly throws them out; Minty, Manda, Ronnie and Jack play strip poker; Darren offers Whitney a job; James rejects Christian's advances as he's in a relationship; Jack and Ronnie stay behind at The Vic after closing for some quality time together, only to be interrupted by Peggy; and Janine may have met her match in Amira.

Peggy and Sal make a shock discovery
Airs on Thursday, June 18 2009 at 19:30 BST on BBC One

Stacey's unresponsive on the sofa as a concerned Jean attempts to bring her back to reality. Tanya unexpectedly calls at the Slaters' to see how Stacey is, but Jean dismisses her concern and says that the doctor claims that she needs rest. Intent on helping, Tanya chats to Dr Jenkins about Stacey, but she's confused when Dr Al claims that he hasn't seen her. Later in The Vic, Jean's not impressed that Tanya's been speaking to the doctor about Stacey and decides to tell the whole pub that everyone should mind their own business.

Furious with the Brannings' interference, Jean storms across to their house and demands that they stay away from Stacey as they've caused enough problems for her. When Jean returns to the Slaters', she walks in on Stacey watching old videos of her and Bradley in the Square while they were together. Turning the television off, Jean sits with Stacey and insists that they talk about the situation.

Meanwhile, Zainab's outraged when she learns that Christian's put her name forward to sing at an event. A hungover Christian is later quizzed by Syed about his night out with James, who later turns up at the Masala Queen unit. During a heart-to-heart in The Vic, James is adamant that the right guy for Christian will turn up one day…

Elsewhere, Whitney readies herself for her first day working at the car lot, but Libby's not too impressed with Darren's decision to hire her; Aunt Sal arrives at The Vic after being invited over to dinner at Jack's flat; Chelsea's shocked to see the state Ellis is in following Lucas's attack on him; Libby apologises to Whitney for her outburst over the job and claims that she's perfect for the position; Aunt Sal and Peggy decide to snoop around Ronnie and Jack's flat, but they're not prepared for what they find - an engagement ring; Whitney opens the envelope her mum Debra left before she fled Walford; and after an argument with her mum and dad, Chelsea posts a letter through the door and drives off with Ellis…

    Syed kisses Christian
Airs on Friday, June 19 2009 at 20:00 BST on BBC One

It's the day of Bushra's event and Zainab's psyching herself up to sing. However, as Syed's about to introduce his mother, he spies Amira across the room and invites her on stage instead. Everyone's relieved when Amira begins to sing beautifully. Bushra's impressed by Syed's thinking, but Syed explains that he couldn't have pulled it off without Christian. The pair share a satisfied look. Later, Amira's shocked to hear Zainab mention a November wedding date for her and Syed, while Christian reveals to Bushra that he's gay. Evidently taken aback, Bushra walks away, while Zainab's annoyed they could have lost business as a result and tells Christian to stop flaunting his sexuality.

Later, Christian confronts Zainab about her reaction to him revealing his sexuality to Bushra. Zainab insists that he can live his life in any way he likes but 'just not in her faith'. Syed asks Christian to let the argument drop, but he's adamant to hear Syed's thoughts on the matter. When Syed admits that homosexuality is 'against God's will', Christian leaves in disgust. At the Masala unit, Syed arrives with the news that Bushra's booking them for more events, but Christian's still furious about their earlier argument. As the pair stand close, Christian demands to know what Syed's problem is. Syed, however, leaves in and kisses him…

Whitney's intrigued by the key her mother left behind and vowed to return for. Nervous, Whitney resolves to visit her mum's flat in the hope of finding the lock in which the key fits. She boards the bus to the property's location and makes a shocking discovery when she arrives - it's been torched! Returning home, a worried Whitney confides in Libby, who admits that Debra must have instructed her not to open the envelope for a reason. The pair agree that Debra's in trouble.

Meanwhile, Jean's concerned as Stacey readies herself for work, but Charlie insists that if she feels up to it, she should be back out on the market. On her way out, Stacey apologises to her mum for scaring her. Later, Bradley and Stacey meet for a drink. After describing the events of the café fire, she's shocked when he asks her for a divorce. Bradley hands back her father Brian's wedding ring and says goodbye, kissing her on the cheek as he goes. Stacey returns home and sits in the kitchen with her jewellery box and her father's wedding ring, before breaking down in tears.

Elsewhere, Peggy pays Jack a visit following the discovery of his engagement ring; Denise makes the worrying realisation that Chelsea's disappeared; Jack's shocked when Peggy reveals that she's arranging an engagement party for the following week, so he'd better propose quickly; Jean and Denise have a heart-to-heart about their daughters; and as Denise and Lucas share a kiss in the Square, Patrick sees Lucas's ex Trina watching from afar.

With 'EastEnders' viewers set to see a reunion of sorts between estranged couple Max and Tanya tonight, actress Jo Joyner has hinted that there could be racier storylines ahead for her much-loved character.

ITV Teletext reports that Joyner said: "Max (actor Jake Wood) and Tanya were made for each other. But she would like her alter ego to play the field a little more."

She added: "Tanya has a really naughty side. When she was young she was a lot like Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner). She definitely has it in her."

On tonight's episode viewers will see Tanya and Max kissing, but when he asks her if they are back together, she tells him she just wants some fun.
