Black Eyed Peas have ended JLS's two-week reign over the UK singles chart.

Their hit 'I Gotta Feeling' - currently top of the US, Australian and Irish charts as well - climbs from three to one this week.

It matches the success of the group's previous single 'Boom Boom Pow', which spent two non-consecutive weeks at number one in May and June.

The Black Eyed Peas have made history on the Billboard charts.

This week the foursome - Fergie, will.i.am, apl.de.ap and Taboo - will have topped Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart in America for 20 consecutive weeks, the most ever by an act.

Their hit Boom Boom Pow and I Gotta Feeling, the song that dislodged it, have been on top of the singles chart for 12 weeks and eight weeks, respectively.

Will.i.am said: "There's a part of me that wants to be cocky, but then I can't be cocky - there's a part of me that wants to call out all of my other peers and competitors, I don't want to say no names because I'm not like that, but part of me wants to do that... and would it be wrong if I did that, yes it would, I'm not like that."

He admitted he's not sure how to take it all in.

"Like how am I supposed to take this and soak this in? If these people like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Michael Jackson have these No 1s, but yet we just broke a record, how am I supposed to take that because we came from the under, under, underground," he said.
