To EastEnders now, where it's Billy (Perry Fenwick) and little Jay's (Jamie Borthwick) week to shine. It's Jase's trial in a fortnight's time and during the first episode of the week, Billy bumps into a mysterious woman called Viv (Dido Miles) and accidentally pours tea down her. She's all sweetness and lies, though, as it soon transpires that she's not as innocent as she seems - she's actually revealed to be football hooligan gang leader Terry Bates's (Nicholas Ball) wife.

So why's she on Albert Square looking for Billy? Well she hopes to stop Billy from appearing in court and giving evidence against Terry. When she threatens Jay's life, Billy finds himself in an extremely difficult position.

The arrival of a mystery brunette in Walford seems set to change the fortunes of unlucky Billy Mitchell.

Down-and-out cleaner Billy bumps into the woman in the café and sends her tea flying all over her.

But he quickly apologises and buys her another.

Later on, she is sitting behind Billy in the Queen Vic when Shirley points out she seems to be giving him the eye.

And the woman eventually comes over and introduces herself.

Our Walford source says: “She seems to take a real shine to Billy. She tells him she is supposed to be going out but would be happy to spend time with him.

''He takes her up on her offer and the two get chatting over a drink or two.”

Ever since his wife Honey left him last year, Billy’s life has spiralled out of control. And insiders say the arrival of the new woman in his life gives Billy hope his luck could be changing.

The insider added: “He’s really hoping this is going to be a turnaround in his fortunes. But you never know what’saround the corner for Billy.”

Find out who the woman is on Monday May 25 on BBC1.

more detailed spoilers in case anyones interested:

    monday
Billy bumps into an unknown lady in the café and spills her tea all over her before chatting to Phil about Jay. Despite his best attempts, though, Jay wants nothing to do with him. Later, Shirley points out to Billy that the mysterious woman from the café is giving him the eye and it's not long before she introduces herself as Viv Bates - Terry's wife.

In a threatening manner, Viv tells Billy that if he turns up in court, testifies against her husband, or tells anyone about their conversation, Jay will suffer the consequences…

Meanwhile, Zainab's uneasy when she realises that she's catering for an event for an old friend called Bushra. Not wanting to be seen, she runs out, leaving Jane on her own. Masood attempts to reason with his wife, but Zainab's adamant that she doesn't want to be seen as a failure after their last business failed. After a phone call from Jane, Masood agrees to go and help, leaving Zainab at home. Relenting, Zainab eventually returns to R&R, sees Bushra and is surprised by her reaction. She quickly moves on to ask about Syed and questions whether he's still single.

Elsewhere, Jane wins a two-week holiday to Scotland in a charity raffle; Phil's drinking appears to be under control; and Syd has a flat crisis which results in her moving into Dot's - and Nick's not pleased in the slightest.

    tuesday
It's the day of the trial for Jase's murder and Jay's evidently anxious about what's to come. Dawn opens the front door to find Billy sitting on the doorstep waiting to speak to Jay, but she's having none of it and slams the door in his face. Having seen Jay head off to the court, Billy heads to The Vic, where Minty quizzes him about his mystery woman from the previous day. He eventually confesses that she was Terry Bates's wife. Garry and Dawn return from the court without Jay and reveal that he ran off after giving his evidence. Billy's frantic with panic about his whereabouts, while Dawn asks Minty not to let Billy anywhere near Jay if she finds him.

While Dawn's in The Vic, some blunt words from Phil make her realise that she has to face up to her responsibility to give evidence and have Terry sent down. Meanwhile, Billy's frantically searching for Jay and reluctantly confesses to Minty that Terry's wife threatened him not to give evidence or she'd harm Jay. Their search continues and they soon find the flat door ajar. Billy tentatively steps inside to find Jay, who has been crying. After yelling at him, Jay storms to his room.

Hearing Dawn's voice, Jay returns downstairs, but it doesn't seem to be good news - it seems that Billy's evidence will be essential in securing a conviction. Jay's clearly frustrated. Later in the café, Billy tries to reason with him, but the youngster's adamant - he managed to give evidence, so why can't Billy stand up and say what he saw the night Jase died? As Jay storms out, Billy's left alone, completely torn as to what to do.

Elsewhere, Ben's frustrated with Phil; Syed bumps into a number of pretty girls while running some errands; Heather's upset by the state Shirley's in; Zainab revels at interfering in her son's life; Ian's excited to hear that Jane's managed to get them a free holiday; Ian's horrified to learn that Jane's offered Shirley a job in the café; Heather reconsiders Ian's offer of a loan; and Jean expresses to Mo her concern that Ian's asking for Stacey's loan money back.

    thursday
It's the day that Billy's supposed to appear in court to give evidence. At the court, Viv informs Terry that Billy's name is still on the witness list. Furious, Terry tells her to put their plan into action. Meanwhile, at Garry and Dawn's flat, Jay infers from their whispers that Billy's contemplating not attending, completely unaware that he's being threatened. Minty finds Billy in the café when he's supposed to be in court, but Billy reaffirms that he's not going in order to protect Jay. At that moment, Dawn rushes in. She puts a box on the table containing a wreath and a card that reads 'RIP Jay'. Looking up, Billy sees Viv in the doorway and he immediately panics about Jay's whereabouts. Viv menacingly responds: "I think I can answer that one."

Back at the flat, Jay's watching TV coverage of Jase's trial just as Garry bursts in, quickly followed by three members of Terry's gang. Meanwhile, Viv takes Billy, Dawn and Minty to the Arches and insists that Billy take his name off the witness list. As they're talking, the door flies open and Garry reveals that Jay's being held hostage at the flat. When Viv gets Jay on the phone to speak to Billy, the youngster claims that he doesn't care if he's killed, so long as Billy attends court and sees justice done. Billy threatens Viv with the police, but she retorts that there would be no reason to keep Jay alive if he did.

Believing that Phil can help, Garry, Minty, Billy, Phil and Dawn prepare to storm the flat but it soon transpires that Phil's in no fit state to help as he's too drunk. As they walk away, Billy's still standing outside, resolute on rescuing Jay alone. He dials 999, before taking a deep breath - he's going in.

Elsewhere, Ronnie invites Roxy over to the flat as she has a present - a pink baby grow; Syed's frustrated that his mother's interfering in his love life; it's clear that Ronnie's preoccupied with thoughts of motherhood; Masood believes that Syed's up to his old tricks, but he admits that he's trying to impress Amira's father with a business plan; a concerned Dotty tells Nick that Syd's a nurse; Ronnie takes her wrapped present - a black waistcoat - over to Roxy at The Vic; Jack finds a pink baby grow in the chest of drawers in his bedroom; Dotty tells Syd that Dot's starting to forget things and that it's not a good idea to leave Noah with her for the day, causing Syd to suggest to Bradley that Dot may have dementia; and Ronnie tells Jack that she wants to have a baby with him.

    friday
A nervous Billy slowly opens the door to Garry and Dawn's flat and creeps through to the living room, where he sees Jay on the floor with his hands tied behind his back. They make eye contact and Billy urges the youngster to stay quiet. Marching into the room, Billy states that he's there for Jay, but before he knows what's happening, Bird punches him in the face. At the court, Terry's escorted in and spots his wife Viv, who gives him a knowing nod. Smiling to himself, Terry believes that everything's in hand.

On the Square, Dawn races across to the flat with Garry and Minty and they see a police car and ambulance speed around the corner. Billy's on the floor with a bloodied face and just as Bird's about to start attacking him again, the police storm the building. Later, a limping Billy exits the house but instead of getting into the ambulance, he's driven off in a police car.

Meanwhile, Jack's reeling from Ronnie's confession that she wants a baby. Upset by his reaction, Ronnie gathers her stockpile of baby clothes, while Jack insists that it's not the case that he never wants a child with her - just not as things stand at the moment. The arrival of Jack's friends for a poker night interrupts them, but he takes them to The Vic instead. When he returns, he finds a trail of poker chips leading to the bedroom. Ronnie's shocked, though, as when she starts kissing Jack, he yells that he's not going to give her a baby. He explains that it's too soon after Danielle and that she has years left to have another child.

Elsewhere, Bradley's unconvinced by Syd's claims that Dot could have dementia - until he hears that Dot's locked herself out of the house; Ian decides to turn the trip to Scotland into a cycling holiday; Syd's new landlord is revealed as Ian Beale; Peter's shocked when Ian reveals that he's planning on recouping the money Stacey owes him by selling Chops the pig; Nick's plan seems to be working when Syd suggests that they take Dot to see a dementia specialist; Mo reluctantly sells Chops to Chinese Pedro; and Ian surprises Jane with a tandem bicycle.

Billy goes round to Garry (Ricky Groves) and Dawn's house and sees Jay lying on the floor with his hands strung together with a tie.

Gang member Bird soon appears and beats Billy up.

Luckily for Billy, an ambulance and police car is called just as Bird readies himself for another attack on him.

Garry, Minty (Cliff Parisi) and Dawn (Kara Tointon) are shocked when they see a limping Billy emerge from the house with blood dripping down his head.

RONNIE Mitchell has yet another Ron-in with lover Jack after he chides her for buying baby clothes despite not being pregnant.
Jack (Scott Maslen) asks Ronnie (Samantha Janus) why she bought the tiny togs and worries that she's expecting his child.

In a hump, Ronnie says she's not pregnant but wants to start planning a family with Jack - something which he's eager to put off.

Jack then puts his foot in it by suggesting that Ronnie should give the clothes to Amy - Ronnie's niece and his daughter.

EastEnders is on tonight at 7.30pm, BBC One.
