Nick Cotton gets his comeuppance when he tries to cause trouble for the Mitchell clan.

The Albert Square waster causes *Billy and Phil to have a massive bust-up – but then they turn on him.

It all starts when badboy Nick blackmails Billy for £200 by threatening to tell Jay the truth about his dad’s death.

Our Walford source said: “Billy has felt guilty ever since Jason died because he knows that instead of saving himself he could have done more to help Jason.

“He’s terrified Jay will find out about it and is under pressure to come up with the pay-off.”

Heading back to the Vic, desperate *Billy takes £100 from Phil’s *wallet – but Phil walks in and catches him.

In the confrontation that follows, Phil hits Billy, blaming him for stealing all the cash that’s missing from the pub’s till.

Our source said: “Billy reveals Nick is blackmailing him and Phil decides to give him a chance.

“The two are cousins after all – and the Mitchells always stick together.

“They have a frank talk and Billy says he’s doing everything he can for Jay. He *admits the guilt surrounding Jase’s death is getting too much for him.”

Later, after downing a bottle of whisky, Phil bumps into Nick.

Leading him up the alleyway, Phil bundles him into the barrel store of the Vic *before really going for him.

But will a boozed-up Phil go further than even he meant this time?

Fans can see Nick being given a pummelling on Thursday May 21 at 7pm on BBC1.

    Detailed Spoilers Weed 18 - 22 May

Nicky and Dotty continue with their evil plot
Airs on Monday, May 18 2009 at 20:00 BST on BBC One

Nick and Dotty continue with their attempts to turn Dot into a nervous wreck by hiding and moving her belongings as well as disrupting her sleep patterns. Later at The Vic, Nick decides to tell Peggy that Dot wanted to invite her around for tea. Having made the scenario up, Dot panics that she can't remember talking about it. However, not wanting to disappoint, she pops home and puts a chicken in the oven, which Nick subsequently turns off. When Peggy arrives, she's concerned when she sees Dot remove a raw chicken from the oven.

Later, Dot's edgy when she can't find her cigarettes and so heads to the shop, completely unaware that Dotty's hidden her original packet with her purse. Nick soon arrives and tells her that she left them on the sideboard. Meanwhile, he continues to blackmail Billy and under pressure, Billy abuses his new permanent job behind the bar when he steals Tracey's wage packet.

Jean attempts to persuade Stacey that she should seek medical help as she continues behaving erratically. When Bradley can't get hold of Syd, he's shocked when Stacey admits to telling her about his ear fetish. Bradley hits the roof at her interference, before eventually tracking Syd down. Syd, however, tells Bradley that she doesn't want a relationship at the moment. After another run-in with Stacey, Bradley's gutted to see a man leaving Syd's flat.

Elsewhere, Libby's convinced that Al's a sleaze; and Chelsea's concerned that Theo's not called, but her fears are soon allayed.

Billy panics when he sees Nick with Jay
Airs on Tuesday, May 19 2009 at 19:30 BST on BBC One

Peggy heads to Soho for a hair appointment and on her way out, she reminds Shirley and Billy that Tracey will be in later to pick up her wages. With Peggy out for the day, Nick walks into The Vic to collect what he's owed from an uneasy Billy, who reluctantly hands him the cash. Peggy unexpectedly returns and immediately asks if Tracey's been in for her money. Billy claims she hasn't, but when Peggy looks for it, she's shocked that it's not there and demands to know where it's gone. When it looks like Jay's about to get the blame, Billy points the finger at Shirley, who subsequently loses her job.

Aware that Billy was the culprit, Shirley vows to get to the bottom of the missing cash and knows that Nick is involved. Nick, however, feigns ignorance and claims that Billy owed him the money as a lucrative football bet paid dividends. Shirley's unconvinced. With Shirley's accusations having riled him further, Nick asks Billy for more money - 'aggravation tax'. With no more money to give, Nick keeps an eye on Jay. Seizing the opportunity, Nick offers to play darts with him. Billy panics that Nick's about to tell Jay the truth about Jase's death, but Peggy returns just in time and forces him to do his homework.

Meanwhile, believing that there's nothing left for him in Walford, Bradley resolves to leave and look after a friend's flat in Edinburgh. As he's about to go, Syd arrives. Confronting her about the guy he saw leaving her flat, Syd insists that he's completely misunderstood her situation. Later, with his taxi waiting to take him to the airport, Bradley decides to stop by Syd's flat, where he finally discovers why Syd's been acting so cagily…

Elsewhere, Heather's concerned when she finds Dot asleep at work; Patrick's divorce finally comes through; Stacey and Mo glam up to do a deal on some dodgy designer gear; Dotty tells Nick that she thinks they've done enough to Dot; Chelsea and Theo do some Dirty Dancing; a concerned Heather pays Dot a visit to check she's okay, but Dot's dismissive and eventually agrees to see the doctor; and Stacey slopes out in the middle of the night.

Dr Al pays Dot a visit
Airs on Thursday, May 21 2009 at 19:30 BST on BBC One

Jay's in a destructive frame of mind ahead of the trial for his father's murder, and he's determined that he and Billy will see justice done. Billy, meanwhile, receives another cryptic birthday card from Nick to remind him about their deal, but the card only serves to remind Jay that it would have been Jase's birthday. As he's a witness and unable to attend court until he takes the stand, Billy begins drinking. Shirley arrives at the pub and screams at Phil that she's being used as a scapegoat for Billy, who really stole the money. Not believing a word she says, Phil ejects her from the bar.

Later, Billy's forced to steal £100 from Phil's wallet when Nick demands more money. Phil's stunned when he catches Billy red-handed. Realising that he's been rumbled, Billy reluctantly reveals that Nick's blackmailing him. After a candid conversation, Phil resolves to sort the situation. In the Minute Mart, Nick attempts to wind up Phil about his drinking. However, Phil leads him down the alley beside the pub and when Nick makes snide remarks about Billy's children and ultimately Kathy, Phil snaps and lunges at him…

Meanwhile, completely unaware that Stacey snuck out of the house in the middle of the night, Jean's concerned that her daughter's nowhere to be found. Across the Square, Dot's lost her pills and Nick changes the time of her appointment with the doctor. However, Nick's sabotage act backfires when the doctor turns up at the house and insists that he check the dosage of her medication.

Elsewhere, Chelsea's excited about her date with Theo; and Bradley's still reeling from Syd's shock revelation.

    Jay finally learns the truth
Airs on Friday, May 22 2009 at 20:00 BST on BBC One

Nick's taped to a chair in the barrel store at The Vic with Billy looking over him. Seemingly unfazed by the situation, Nick taunts Billy about having Phil do his dirty work, but Billy protests that he's doing what's needed to protect Jay. Things soon turn violent when Billy screams at Nick and pushes him to the ground, before grabbing for a knife. When Phil later returns, he finds Billy alone on the chair admitting that he let Nick go. Determined to prove his worth as a Mitchell, Billy storms outside looking for Jay. He finds his surrogate son at the sari shop looking at a shelf that his father installed. As they talk, Jay's stunned into silence as Billy admits to standing by while Terry and co. killed his dad.

Clearly dumbfounded by Billy's revelation, Jay barges into the sari shop and steal 'Jase's shelf', before running off. Later, Billy finds Jay sitting alone fuming in the launderette. Screaming that he hates him, Jay runs off again. Across the Square, Jay bumps into Dot and he's further shocked to discover that she even knew about the true events surrounding his father's death. Dot's further confused when Jay threatens that he's going to kill Nick when he finds him.

Dawn bumps into Jay on the Square and in the heat of the moment, Jay blurts out that Billy stood by and watched Jase die. Dawn's gobsmacked as she didn't know the truth, either. After a run-in with Phil in the café, Jay finds comfort in Dawn and breaks down in her arms as the truth about Billy's betrayal sinks in. Billy, meanwhile, struggles to know what to do for the best, and Phil feels the brunt of his anger. Later at Dot's, Billy arrives to confront Nick, but Nick's already convinced Dotty to lie for him. Inviting Billy inside, Dotty convinces him that her dad gave all his money to her in a bid to prevent her from being taken into care.

When Billy finally speaks to Dot, he covers Nick's involvement in the truth coming out and insists that Nick was only urging him to tell Jay the awful truth.

Elsewhere, Stacey's still missing; and Chelsea attempts to persuade Theo that he has a talent for teaching.

EASTENDERS star Scott Maslen has revealed there is trouble ahead for his soap character Jack Branning’s love life.
The actor tells this week’s Friday Night With Jonathan Ross that he will cop some flak when his on-screen girlfriend Ronnie Mitchell (Sam Janus) turns nasty.

He says: “They’re back together but then it gets a bit bunny boiler-y and he starts to realise there’s an ulterior motive. These two are destined to be together — and then not.”

Hope she belts him good and proper (Not that I advocate violence )
