A little more on week 18:-

    Monday 27th April

Following his confrontation with Syed last week, Masood tells Zainab that he'll not help their eldest son because of the pain he caused the family. Their row, however, isn't helping Tamwar's revision. Expecting Libby, Tamwar opens the front door and is stunned to see his brother standing in front of him. He presumes that Syed's there for money, but his estranged brother claims that he's there to apologise. Syed explains his absence, before going on to reminisce about the good times they had as a family. A reluctant Tamwar's guard soon begins to drop.

When Syed leaves, Masood finds Tamwar in the café and apologises for the shouting in the house earlier on. Masood states that he's only doing what's best for his family, which means that Syed must stay away. Syed returns to see his younger brother in the café, where Tamwar urges him that now isn't the right time to return to the fold. Tamwar gives Syed some money and leaves. Later, on the Square, Tamwar watches as Syed follows Janine into her house…

Meanwhile, Phil begins to feel uncomfortable with his relationship with Shirley and makes a quick exit from the house while she's having a shower. Later, he ignores a call from her. When Phil discovers that Heather told Ben about him spending the night with Shirley, he beckons her to the Arches. A drunken Phil gives Heather a tirade of verbal abuse, while Heather begs him not to break Shirley's heart again. Fed up with his mouthing off, Heather locks Phil in the Arches to sober up.

Elsewhere, Ricky persuades Whitney to go on a date with Todd; Billy receives a 50th birthday card from Honey and the kids; and Whitney discovers a condom in Todd's wallet before storming off.

Heather goes to check on Phil but she's shocked when she realises that nobody knew Phil was in the Arches and that he must still be there. Leaving Garry and Minty to free Phil, Heather runs home. Once released, Phil returns to The Vic and heads for the vodka while trying to provoke Tracy into an argument. Unaware that Shirley's behind him, Phil asks Tracy if she fancies getting together. Furious with the state he's in, Shirley storms out and orders him to sober up. Later, Ben returns and is distressed to find Phil passed out on the sofa. With Shirley not around to help, Ben calls Heather.

Phil finally regains consciousness and is livid when he spots Heather, who asks him about Shirley. As a stunned Ben watches on, Phil claims that he doesn't care about Shirley any longer. When Heather offers to take Ben to school, Phil becomes abusive and knocks the contents of her bag to the ground before throwing her out of the pub. As Heather runs through the Square, she's unable to find her inhaler and as her chest tightens, she suffers an asthma attack.

Meanwhile, while delivering the mail, Masood jumps to conclusions when he finds Syed buttoning his shirt and Janine wearing skimpy lingerie. While Zainab's horrified to hear of her son's whereabouts, Tamwar confesses that he has something to tell them. Syed, meanwhile, worries that the earlier encounter with his father may have ruined his chances of reconciling with his father. When Zainab turns up at Janine's, Syed explains that he couldn't leave Walford because he wanted to stay close to her. Later, as Masood talks through his worries with Jane, Zainab and Syed turn up at the Masala Queen unit, where Syed begs his father for forgiveness.

Elsewhere, Whitney tries to avoid Todd and his attempts to apologise for the condom misunderstanding, while a mysterious stranger watches her from a distance.

Heather's still suffering from an asthma attack and attempts to call out for help. Janine finds the commotion quite amusing as Garry and Minty rush to Heather's aide. Ben spots the incident from The Vic window and comes down to help. Dr Poppy Merritt finally arrives to help, too. Minty calls Shirley to let her know what's happening, but can only leave a message. Ben reveals that Heather's asthma attack was probably triggered by Phil.

At the flat, Dr Merritt examines Heather and notices that her breasts are sore, so suggests that she drop by the clinic for further checks. When she attends the surgery, the doctors break the news to Heather that something has shown up on her tests...

Meanwhile, Masood is puzzled as to how quickly Zainab has forgiven Syed. Syed, meanwhile, agrees not to move back home until his father has found it in his heart to forgive. Speaking to Janine, Syed pledges that he'll do whatever it takes to have a second chance with his family. With that, Zainab knocks on the door with some ironed sheets for him. While she's there, Zainab takes Janine to one side and warns her to keep her hands off Syed.

Elsewhere, Whitney tells Todd that she doesn't want to see him again; Roxy's fuming to be called back to The Vic from her shopping trip; the mysterious stranger watching Whitney picks up her notebook; Roxy is horrified to find Phil sitting in a pool of his own sick; and Whitney's 'watcher' returns her notebook, tells Todd to stay away and quickly disappears again.

As Jay prepares for Billy's surprise 50th birthday party, he doesn't know that Janine's already told the birthday boy about the plans. However, Billy's preoccupied by the thought of the impending trial for Jase's murder. Worried that Jay will discover the truth about what happened the night his father died, Billy confides in Dawn. After opening Jay's present, Billy tells Jay that they'll soon receive a visit from a police liaison officer in connection with the trial. Later at The Vic, his party is in full swing. As Billy blows out the candles on his cake and makes a wish, he opens his eyes to see Dawn and Garry holding Janet and William.

As Billy makes a speech, a drunken Phil stumbles into the bar and begins throwing insults at his cousin. Ronnie, however, puts him to bed. Billy's saddened when he later sees Jay crying to Dawn. Heading over to Dot's to check on the kids, Billy's clearly unhappy. Unable to keep his feelings hidden any longer, Billy breaks down and confesses to Dot what happened the night Jase died - totally unaware that Nick's heard every word.

Meanwhile, Shirley takes the opportunity to apologise to Heather for Phil's behaviour and not being there when she needed her. To make it up to her, Shirley agrees to cook them a meal. After she's been shopping, Shirley returns to the flat and Phil invites himself along. Following a minor disagreement, Phil's about to leave but Shirley reluctantly tempts him back with a drink. When Heather arrives to find the flat in a disgusting state, she sees an inebriated Phil follow Shirley out of the bedroom. As Phil leaves, Heather shocks Shirley by announcing that she wants to move out.

Elsewhere, Masood and Zainab agree not to argue about Syed anymore; Janine takes pleasure in telling Zainab that Syed has a girlfriend; and Dr Al Jenkins arrives on the Square.
