Coronation Street and Emmerdale both face one-off schedule changes in the final week of September.

New schedules released for the week commencing Monday, September 25, have confirmed that both soaps will run at alternative times to make way for ITV's coverage of the Rugby World Cup.

Coronation Street will air a rare Tuesday evening episode on September 26 from 8pm, lasting an hour. ITV bosses have chosen to air the episode on this new date and time to make up for not airing an episode at all on Friday, September 29.

The network will air live coverage of the Rugby World Cup game between New Zealand and Italy at 7.30pm on the Friday night in the usual Corrie time slot.

In addition, Emmerdale will run earlier than usual at 7pm (instead of 7:30pm) on the same date, ahead of the Rugby World Cup fixture.

Episodes will then air as normal from the following Monday.

It's not the first time this month that the two soaps have had to change their schedule in order to accomodate the Rugby World Cup. Last Friday (September 8) episodes of Emmerdale and Coronation Street did not air at their usual Friday time to make way for the France and New Zealand game.

Further scheduling changes could be afoot with the Rugby World Cup final not taking place until Saturday, October 28.

Meanwhile, we now have confirmation that actor Todd Boyce will be exiting Corrie as Stephen Reid next month.

Viewers will hopefully see the businessman get his comeuppance after claiming three lives in Weatherfield. To mark the murderer's departure, ITV have announced the Coronation Street Experience, giving fans the opportunity to view the finale alongside Boyce himself.

The event will take place on Friday October 13, with proceedings being hosted by "Soap Queen" Sharon Marshall.

Fans can get tickets to the experience here which includes a live screening of the episode, followed by a chance to ask Boyce questions in a group Q+A session.
