The 17 pound baby in the picture below was born to a Russian woman, Tatiana Khalina, who delivered the giant baby girl by Caesarean section on September 17.
Check out this picture of the 17 pound baby:
She’s a giant baby compared to the average-sized baby in the crib next to her. The Russian baby is as big as a six-month old toddler!
The 17lb baby girl, Nadezhda Khalina, was born in Aleisk, Siberia as the family’s twelfth child, joining eight brothers and three sisters. The 17 pound baby’s mother says she didn’t eat any special foods, “just potatoes, noodles and tomatoes” while pregnant.
Here’s Nadezhda getting weighed. She’s almost too big for the baby scale!
All the giant Russian baby’s brothers and sisters also arrived in near-giant baby sizes of more than eleven pounds each, but nowhere near a 17lbs baby like not-so-little Nadezdha. She was 17 pounds, one ounce at birth and is reportedly a big eater already…
According to the Guiness Book of Records, the biggest baby was born in the United States in 1879. It weighed 23.12 pounds and died 11 hours after birth. The record book also listed 22.8-pound babies born in Italy in 1955 and in South Africa in 1982.
