2671: Kris reaches the end of his tether
Airs on Monday, October 19 2009 at 18:30 BST on Channel 4

Nancy's obsessing about Jake being back and inadvertently pushes Kris away. Loretta moves into Hannah's old room but feels guilty about her secret involvement with Jake. Kris tries to avoid Hannah when he sees her in the village but she assures him that she doesn't want any trouble - she just wants things back how they used to be and for them all to support each other for Sarah's funeral.

Kris agrees to talk to Nancy but he doesn't get the chance when she sees them together and says that she wants nothing to do with either of them. Jake's trying to come to terms with the fact that he could still face trial for what he did to Charlie, but Frankie's determined to stay positive and advertises his services as a handyman in an attempt to help with his integration back into village life.

Buoyed by his mum's support, Jake helps her out in Drive 'N' Buy but he quickly retreats when Nancy has a go at him. Loretta encourages Nancy to make amends with Kris but Nancy's left stunned when Kris tells her that he's had enough of her fixation with Jake coming between them.

Theresa's making Anita's life hell at the McQueens'. When Carmel tells them to drop by Evissa, Anita's delighted but Theresa makes it clear that she's not welcome. Desperate for attention, Anita tracks Leila down in the hope that they can have a chat but Leila doesn't really have time for her sister - she's late for college.

Not getting the attention she desires, Anita storms off, accusing Leila of not caring about her. Leila's concerned about her sister and is horrified when Hannah informs her she thinks Anita may have an eating disorder. A concerned Leila finds Anita and gives her the chance to talk but it seems like she's been worrying for nothing.

Anita's thrilled when Theresa tells her that she's done her school project about her and thinks everything's okay between them - only to have her friendship thrown back in her face. Anita's at an all-time low but glad her plan for attention is finally working when a worried Hannah offers her support.

Dominic realises that life's too short when he sees Loretta getting on with her life without him and decides to go on holiday. Ste, meanwhile, is shocked when Natty turns up. Natty can tell that he's in need of some company when Ste tells him the kids are living with Mike - he's lost everything. Natty reassures Ste that he's a good dad and encourages him to get his life back on track. Buoyed by Natty's positivity, Ste asks him to move into the flat while Dominic's away.

Elsewhere, Carmel's full of pride as she works together with her family in Evissa, completely oblivious to the fact that Myra's stealing half of her stock. When Theresa spots her aunt bunging a load of body lotions into her bag, she promises not to say anything as long as she lets her bunk off school. Carmel, however, is furious when she discovers the stock in Myra's bag and fires her on the spot.

Already annoyed by her family, Carmel's angry when she spots litter outside Drive 'N' Buy and realises that it's only a matter of time before the villains take over. Carmel decides that the village needs her and dusts down her old uniform - PCSO Valentine is back!

2672: Nancy and Kris visit Zoe in prison
Airs on Tuesday, October 20 2009 at 18:30 BST on Channel 4

Loretta comforts Nancy when she confesses how Jake being back in the village is ruining her relationship with Kris. When Kris and Nancy meet, the atmosphere is tense ahead of their impending visit to see Zoe. Arriving at the prison, they're shocked by Zoe's appearance. Kris and Nancy hear that Zoe's court date has been set and attempting to maintain her positivity, they listen to Zoe's side of the story.

Handing over a letter addressed to 'Sarah', Nancy and Kris promise to take it to her funeral. As her story unfolds, a guilty Zoe admits her fears that she wouldn't be surprised if Sarah had taken her own life.

Back home, Kris and Nancy are finally reconciled and ask Loretta to look after Charlie. Seizing the opportunity, Loretta takes him to the park where a suspicious Jake's reaction takes her by surprise…

Natty enjoys the comfortable facilities in Tony's flat after Ste allowed him to stay over. As the boys discuss what a mistake Dom's made in closing Il Gnosh, a cunning plan springs to mind. Ste soon puts Natty to work and between them, they're ready to open up. Everything's going swimmingly until Mike arrives.

With arrangements to make for Sarah's funeral, he's struggling to cope with looking after the kids and asks Ste for help. Ste explains that he's busy and Mike lambastes him for being selfish, before storming out. When Natty attempts to discuss the confrontation with Mike, Ste closes down and insists that the kids are better off without him.

Taking matters into his own hands, Natty tells Mike that Ste's organising the catering for Sarah's wake. Ste's furious with Natty at first but soon realises that he had his best interests at heart.

A distracted Gilly's puzzled by the workings of an industrial carpet cleaner. When Jake offers his help, he's grateful and they agree to meet up at the Roys'. Loretta overhears their conversation and looking for a connection to Jake, offers her help, too.

As Gilly and Loretta struggle to get the carpet cleaner upstairs, Jake arrives and unable to see what they're up to, mistakes their conversation for something a little more saucy. Realising he has got the wrong end of the stick, Jake's relieved to hear that there's nothing going on between them. It's obvious Jake really likes Loretta.

Michaela's thrilled with the effort that Zak's put in to ensure her first day as a student gets off to a great start. She's delighted by her gift of a mini digital recorder and showers him with thanks. As her worries about enrolment escalate, Zak's attempts to calm her pale into insignificance when Dave makes an appearance.

Dave soon has Michaela's attention and a despondent Zak watches on with envy as she heads off on her college adventure. Successfully enrolled, Michaela's delighted with her new mate Dave, causing Zak to feel left out. With the joke on him, an embarrassed Zak flees the SU with laughter ringing in his ears.

2673: Archie's adamant that Lydia killed Sarah
Airs on Wednesday, October 21 2009 at 18:30 BST on Channel 4

It's Jake's last day before his parole hearing and fearful that he may lose his freedom, he apologises to Loretta for the way he reacted to seeing Charlie in the park. She quickly forgives him but when he then asks her out for a drink, Loretta's not sure. Jake finds Malachy and convinces him to go for a drink with him at The Loft. Cheryl joins them and Jake's happily enjoying the normality of the afternoon.

Things are going well until Calvin arrives and tells Cheryl just who Jake is and what he's done. Having none of it, Malachy insists that they continue their drink at The Dog. Again, things are going well but it's Kris who attacks Malachy for hanging out with Jake.

Jake's sore that Loretta's there to witness the commotion and so does the decent thing and leaves before Malachy's forced to make a choice. Later, Loretta drops by to apologise for not supporting Jake and insists that they can't be seen together...

Archie's struggling to deal with Zoe imprisonment and matters aren't helped when Mike accosts him in the village. Feeling sorry for his former friend, Kris tries to talk to Archie but finds his suggestion that Lydia could be responsible for Sarah's death difficult to believe. Mike runs into Lydia in the village and she's obviously still an emotional wreck. He invites her to stay for a while at the flat - at least until the court case is over.

Back in halls, everyone's going insane listening to Archie's conspiracy theories and matters come to a head when Archie berates Charlotte for standing by Lydia. Archie realises that his fury's getting him nowhere and goes to see Lydia who eventually opens up - revealing that there's a possibility that Sarah may have killed herself after all.

Archie's determined to broadcast what he believes to be the truth and he rushes to tell Mike that even Lydia believes Sarah could have committed suicide…

Ste and Natty are doing their best to keep Il Gnosh running successfully but they're clean out of stock. Ste offers Frankie a huge lunch on the house. In return, Frankie agrees to loan them some ingredients. Frankie loves her food but still only has limited supplies available. She does give Ste an idea, though - and he dashes off to Relish and finds stacks of food in their disused fridges and freezers. Mike drops by to confirm the catering for the wake and Natty's pleased to see how grateful Mike is. Bridges are evidently being built.

Dave's ordering in the first pint of the morning at the SU Bar when Zak approaches and warns him off Michaela. Dave's baffled but agrees nonetheless. Dave's further confused when Josh warns him that in Zak's eyes, not liking Michaela is as much of a crime as liking her.

Dave's forced to seek out Zak to tell him that even though Michaela's a stunner, he would never betray a mate. Zak lets him off the hook, but he's been warned…

    2674: Jake kisses Loretta
Airs on Thursday, October 22 2009 at 18:30 BST on Channel 4

With Sarah's funeral looming, Archie's determined to get to the bottom of how she died and clear Zoe's name in the process. Things are awkward between him and the other students after he claimed that Sarah committed suicide. They don't know what to believe but Archie's accusations have riled a distraught Mike, so they advise Archie to let things cool down.

Lydia comforts Mike, reassuring him that Sarah was in no way suicidal. When Archie interrupts her lunch with Mike and Charlotte, she quickly takes control of the situation and encourages Mike to let her talk to Archie alone. Archie's decided to organise a campaign to help prove Zoe's innocence but Lydia fears that it'll only serve to implicate her. With the pressure mounting, Lydia feels like she's losing control and admits to a confused Archie that Sarah was never meant to die.

Tony and Cindy return from their honeymoon only to find that Ste and Natty have taken over Il Gnosh and have turned it into a burger bar. Tony's livid at the state of his restaurant and despite Ste and Natty both trying to explain their reasons for opening, Tony tells them that they're both sacked. Cindy's more rational than Tony, though, and can see the good in what Ste and Natty were trying to do.

Once Tony's calmed down, she convinces him to give Ste another chance. However, before he can tell him, a riled Ste has the first word and lets Tony know exactly what he thinks of him and his restaurant. Cindy quickly jumps in to tell him that he's got his job back but after Ste's outburst, Tony sticks by his initial decision.

Just when he thought he was back on track, a now jobless and homeless Ste makes the decision to break into Relish and bed down there for the night.

With his CPS meeting looming, Jake's coming to terms with the fact he may not have his freedom for much longer. Darren struggles to find any sympathy for Jake and reminds him that he tried to kill his own son and therefore, has to face the consequences. Jack and Frankie accompany Jake to the station and Frankie vows to stand by him no matter what.

There, DS Murtagh informs Jake that as it's believed that he wasn't of sound mind at the time of the attempted murder, the charges have been dropped. Jake's relieved that he's a free man and wanting to share his good news, he asks Malachy if he'll celebrate with him. Although pleased for his mate, Malachy's still wary about socialising with him and so makes his excuses.

Still on a high, Jake decides to bite the bullet and text Loretta, asking to meet up. Loretta's genuinely pleased for Jake but when he misreads the signals and tries to kiss her, she abruptly leaves, insisting that he's moving way too fast. A dejected Jake is left alone once again to reflect on his bittersweet day.

2675: The day of Sarah's funeral dawns
Airs on Friday, October 23 2009 at 18:30 BST on Channel 4

It's the day of Sarah's funeral and Archie's on a mission. Archie tells Kris that he believes Lydia killed Sarah. Kris is persuaded but warns Archie not to shout his mouth off. Archie can't help himself and when he finds Lydia, accuses her of murder. Kris has to pull Archie away as Nancy comforts Lydia.

Afterwards, Archie visits Zoe and tells her that Lydia pretty much confessed to killing Sarah and promises to get his sister out of prison, leaving her full of hope. Zoe visits the prison chapel where she talks to Paul, the prison chaplain, about Sarah. Meanwhile, Archie goes to DI Fletcher with his news about Lydia.

Fletcher's dubious and tells Archie that she'll be in touch, leaving Archie fuming. Meanwhile, Zoe breaks the news to Paul that Archie's going to get her out but he pours cold water on her hopes - they won't just release her on Archie's word. Not sure about what else he can do, Archie bursts in to Sarah's wake and accuses Lydia of murder in front of everyone…

Mike finds it hard to cope as the funeral looms. Lydia's consumed with guilt and is about to confess her sin to Mike when Amy arrives. After Mike gives a touching speech, it's Lydia's turn to say a few words. She breaks down and imagines seeing Archie bursting into the church with policemen. With that, Lydia bolts out of the church. Amy finds Lydia and persuades her to return to the service. It's a touching moment as everyone sings one of Sarah's favourite songs, before Lydia tries to say a few words. However, she's interrupted when Archie bursts in shouting the odds…

Sarah's friends all react in different ways as Sarah's funeral draws ever closer. Steph doesn't want to go, despite Gilly attempting to convince her otherwise, while Elliot has to be persuaded by Kris to attend. Loretta, meanwhile, tries to patch things up between Nancy and Hannah. Hannah gives a heart-felt speech before the service but Nancy's not interested.

After the service, Nancy comes to her senses and makes up with Hannah. Steph also turns up at the wake with Gilly as her support. As Steph puts on Sarah's favourite song, they all start to sing along…

Ste feels out of his depth as he wakes up in Relish with the funeral catering still to do. At the funeral, Ste brags proudly to Amy about how well he's doing. Ste and Mike are relieved as Amy bends down to hug the kids. Amy feels bad for not being able to say goodbye to Sarah but is comforted by her dad who's glad to have her there.

Mike warns Ste that Amy needs space but Ste's over-excited. When Ste tells Amy that he's glad the kids have got their mum back, she begins to feel hemmed in…
