'American Idol' sues Texas strip club

The production company that owns American Idol has sued a Texas strip club, reports Access Hollywood.

FreemantleMedia North America want the Palazio Men's Club to stop using the name 'Stripper Idol' for its weekly stripping contest.

The lawsuit has accused the Austin club of trademark violation, saying: "There is a substantial likelihood that consumers will be confused, misled or deceived as to the sponsorship… of the defendants’ stripper talent contest."

It added that the event uses a logo similar to Idol and that waitresses at the club have the logo emblazoned on their shirts.

The club's managers denied trademark violation and insisted that their contest does not resemble the reality show.

"It's shocking. We're just a local company, it's not like we're some big threat," said operations manager Scott Stevenson.

'Stripper Idol', which is in its 12th week, and involves women being given 60 seconds to dance topless before being ranked by audience applause to win $500.

    I think this so funny

American Idol didn't create the term idol. There is no case here. The gready people at Fox or whatever network produces it, need to stop being so arrogant.
