Sounds exciting. I like Paul, even when he's bad. Hope he does get together with Terese they could be an interesting match both in business and personal storylines.

Neighbours fans are currently seeing a darker side to Daniel Robinson, and Stefan Dennis has revealed that his character Paul is proud of the change in his nephew.

Laid-back, easy-going Daniel was brought into the show last year as the polar opposite to his uncle Paul, but recent scenes have seen him become increasingly ruthless.

Daniel's determination to be a successful businessman has already put a strain on his relationship with Imogen Willis, but he will also have an almighty altercation with Paul in episodes airing in the UK next week.

Dennis told Digital Spy: "In one sense, Paul is really, really proud of him because that is what he set out to do with Daniel in the first place.

"Paul takes these young chaps and turns them into business proteges. He did it with Dylan in a much more Machiavellian way.

"He turned Dylan [Timmins] well and truly to the dark side, whereas he has tried to prevent doing that to the same extent with Daniel.

"I think the fact that Daniel has actually started to achieve things on that career path makes Paul pleased, but on the other hand, he hasn't got control. He hasn't got control of Daniel and he is such a free-spirit anyway. Paul can't handle it and that is why they end up going to loggerheads."

Dennis went on to add that Paul's secret plans for Daniel have been in place since he first arrived in Ramsay Street last year.

He continued: "I don't know if you remember a scene when Daniel first came into the show where there was a split screen phone call. They compared the two conversations and that is when you first saw what Paul wanted to do with him."

While Daniel and Paul's relationship is set for some huge hurdles, Dennis admitted that he is enjoying working with Tim Phillipps as they explore the changes in his character.

He said: "We have great fun doing scenes and there is more to play now. It wasn't that Daniel was airy-fairy at any stage, but he was a bit light. Now there is more depth in the scenes between the two of us."

Paul hits rock bottom and Amy finds memories of the past could put her new relationship in jeopardy.
With her father Paul, down and out after going bankrupt and being placed under investigation for his dodgy council dealings, Amy decides to go into business with her dad, selling gazebos. The venture is a source of hope for Paul, who throws himself into the project, viewing it as both a way out of him money troubles and to bond with Amy. However, start-up cash is hard to find, given Paul’s situation with the bank and the locals’ unwillingness to trust him. Just when he’s about to throw in the towel, he gets an unexpected offer.
Amy (Zoe Cramond) enjoys working with Paul (Stefan Dennis), however she is concerned about his relationship with Daniel (Tim Phillipps) after their falling out over Daniel’s involvement in the investigation. To patch things up, Amy plans a surprise birthday party for her father but Daniel refuses to come because Paul is unwilling to forgive him. Amy is stunned by Paul’s behaviour, given how many times Paul has been forgiven but she is even more shocked to find out about Paul’s attempts to send Steph (Carla Bonner) insane. Once at the birthday part Amy’s harsh words see Paul hit rock bottom as he realises his daughter might not forgive him.
Meanwhile, Kyle (Chris Milligan), lends his support to the venture, assisting Amy as she gets things up and running, though Amy worries it could harm their relationship just like it did with her husband. While Kyle offers to step back, Amy draws up a contract, thinking it’s a better option. However, Kyle tears it up, saying he’s nothing like her ex, Liam and wants to help and support her.
During their discussion Kyle’s dog Bossy, starts behaving out of character. At first the pair think nothing of it until they find her in pain. They take Bossy to the vet, who can’t give any indication of what might be ailing her until tests come back. Amy reassures Kyle that she’ll help with the cost if his beloved pooch needs treatment because they’re in it together but Bossy’s illness might just cause more devastation than they realise.

Stefan Dennis tell us why Paul Robinson’s down... but not out!

Neighbours is about to start transmitting on the same day in the UK as it does Australia. Is that exciting for you guys?
Yeah, it’s really great. My gosh, you’re going to find out some juicy stuff at the begining of the year. It’s going to be really good. There’s a brilliant storyline coming up almost at the very begining, which I can’t say too much about it but it’s really, really exciting. The best thing for me is that when my in-laws come over from Scotland each Chrsitmas, I won’t have to catch them up and tell them what’s going on in the show. They can start telling me, for a change!

So we pick up after the Christmas break just as Paul’s been thrown out of his penthouse and lost everything - how’s he coping?
He’s a ragged, jagged man. What cracks me up is he has nothing but he does still manage to have his Rolex watch and his diamond ring on him. He escapes with those and funnily enough his laptop. That’s a clue, isn’t it?! I wonder what’s going to happen there.. it’s set to be a very turbulent year ahead for Paul.

How does he feel about having to accept an offer from Terese to move in with her?
Ha, ha! What do you think’s going to happen there? Brad’s not around any more, after all... It’s really interesting because Rebekah Elmaloglou (Terese) and I have always said it’d be really nice if Paul and Terese didn’t get together but then we’re not the powers that be. It’s not because we don’t want to work together - we love working together - but the characters have such a good bond to their friendship. The writers haven’t told us whether they’ve got long-term or short-term plans in that direction. It would be interesting, though, I think...

Paul has to accept handouts from everyone - Amy brings him clothes from the charity shop! This is not the Paul Robinson we know! How does he find that?

It’s quite comical. He’s wearing this bug suit from the op-shop. He’s in old clothes and at first is living in the men’s shed. He’s got nowhere else to go. That’s the thing: he’s absolutely lost everything, he was annihilated in one hit.

He ends up going into business with Amy selling gazebos. Is that a way to get his fortune back?

Well, obviously a part of it is desperation because of where he’s suddenly been put but at the same time the pride, business acumen, ambition and drive he has are still there - just because he’s lost everything doesn’t mean he’s lost his capabilities. He wants to make a million bucks out of it and he intends to do it in the Paul Robinson fashion.

He ends up getting involved with dodgy Dimato, doesn’t he?
Gosh, that’s a mistake, isn’t it? There’s tears before bedtime!

Is he worried Amy’s going to find out what he’s up to because he’s pretending to her that he’s being straight down the line, isn’t he?
Yeah. I think with her he is. He’s an idiot, let’s be honest about it! Paul might be the smartest bsuinessman but he’s an idiot - he’s always trying to control. He’s a control freak. He even tries to control the most valuable and cherished things in the world: his family. That’s his big mistake. You don’t do that.

Do you think he can get closer to Amy through the business?
He’ll do anything to get any sort of relationship with her. When she first came into his life there was a little bit of animosity - to say the least! He’s basically been having to live with the guilt and try and do the penance and he’s been doing it in spades but every time he gets on the right track, bang, he does something stupid and she hates him again.

She’s not happy when she hears what Paul did to Steph, is she?
As I say, the man’s an idiot. He always thinks he can buy his way out of things and all of a sudden: uh-oh, he’s got no money so he can’t buy his way out of things!

    Are you enjoying this storyline?
Yeah! When you play a character across 30 years, you become emotionally attached to a small degree and when something like this happens you do get worried. Then you realise it’s not real - me and Jackie Woodburne (Susan) were cracking up the other day as we realised this job is basically dressing up for adults!

So it’s set to be an interesting year ahead for Paul, then?
I had a chat with the producers about two or three months ago and they told me what they thinking for the next six months - and I was sitting there going, “Wow, okay, right, wow,” It’s the great thing about this job: you get to do different stuff every day. Even though it’s the same character, the same location and the same studios, it’s always new.

    Grandaddy cool!
Paul might not be the best at keeping on the right side of his family but he does love his little grandson, Jimmy... “I love the fact Jimmy calls him G-dad!” Stefan laughs. “It doesn’t make me feel quite so old. That was a bit of a shock when the producers told me I was getting a grandchild - couldn’t they have held off for a couple more years?!”

    Paul strikes back
Can he claw his way back from financial ruin?

Paul has hit rock bottom after his assets were frozen and he was hauled out of his penthouse under police escourt.

He’s too proud to ask anyone for help in upcoming Neighbours episodes.

However, Terese (Rebekah Elmaloglou) extends an olive branch and invites him to live in her house on Ramsay Street.

Paul (Stefan Dennis) feels humilated having to rely on her charity.

His main goal? Get back on top - pronto!

“Paul has lost his money and his empire,” executive producer Jason Herbison says.

“This year is about Paul reduced to nothing. “He’s determined to rebuild his empire.”

That means aligning himself with an unexpected business partner - criminal Dimato (David Serafin)!

“Dimato presents himself as a changed person,” Jason says.

“He’s out of jail and claiming to have turned over a new leaf.”

Let’s hope Paul doesn’t get in too deep with the wrong crowd!

Could love be in the air for Terese and Paul?
Terese and Paul go from being neighbours to very good friends this fortnight as they share a kiss! However, is it just a rebound fling for Terese or will it lead to more?
Poor Terese still hopes that she and estranged hubby Brad can work through their differences. So when Josh tells her that he’s seen Lauren and Brad having a cosy hug and thinks they’re back together, Terese is left devastated.
Feeling like she’s lost her man for good, Terese doesn’t know how to carry on - until Sonya tells her she needs to do something that’s going to make her feel good again.
Later, Terese is touched when Paul does her a good turn and with Sonya’s words of wisdom still on her mind, the businesswoman decides to return the favour by planting a surprise smaker oon Paul’s lips! Crikey, she’s not backwards in coming forwards!
Terese then follows up the impromptu kiss by making Paul a cheeky offer but will the randy Robinson take her up on it?
The following morning, Paul and Terese are feeling totes awks about the previous night’s encounter. However, they quickly have to put all that to one side because he’s got to prepare to appear in court over stealing Susan’s school petition. Boo!
Knowing Paul’s bad news, Terese can’t believe she threw herself at him and is gutted when she learns from Josh that he got it wrong about Brad and Lauren - they aren’t back together at all!
Ashamed at her saucy behaviour, Terese comes clean to Sonya, admitting that she tried to seduce Paul but they didn’t actually go any further. What’s she so worried ab0ut, then?
Meanwhile, smitten Paul is secretly hoping that this could be the start of something for him and Brad’s ex but his dreams of dating again are crushed when straight-talking Terese tells him they’re better off as friends. D’oh!
Following Terese’s rejection, Paul’s day gets worse when he’s delivered a harsh sentence from the magistrate, then encounters the interim mayor. Has Ramsay Street’s rogue met his match?
    What happens next?
Brad and Lauren reunite. Where does that leave Terese and Paul?
