The house used as the Sugden family home in Emmerdale has been put up for sale.

Lindley Farm is a 300-year-old, five-bedroom property and could be seen in the soap from its inception as Emmerdale Farm in 1972 until 1993, when its owner retired and made the location unavailable.

Estate agent Andrew Butler revealed that the house, which is still popular with tourists, has received some interest from buyers.

"It is a house with a history and we have had several enquiries about it. The property has been considerably updated by the present owners to provide an ideal family home.

"It still attracts visitors to the village who stop outside and take photographs. It is a splendid house. It has had a lot of stars at the front door, although the inside was never used for filming."

A plotline in the soap explained the loss of the location by having Jack Sugden move out due to subsidence caused by old mineshafts.
