2401: Newt goes missing

Frankie and Darren find that Newt has gone missing after having seen Jack the previous night. They begin frantically searching all over and are soon resigned to the fact that they are going to have to call the police, even if it means revealing the truth about Jack. Darren urges them not to panic and sets off to see if Lauren knows where he is. Lauren swears that she doesn't know where he is but as soon as Darren leaves, she sets off for the school boiler room, Newt's favoured hideout.
When she gets there, she finds Newt panicked and on edge. He hasn't taken his medication and it seems that Eli is back. Lauren is petrified when Newt becomes manic and starts to manhandle her - just as Darren appears having followed Lauren to the school. Newt assumes Lauren has betrayed his trust and orders her to leave. Darren manages to calm Newt down and coax him home but when they get there the police have already arrived…
Steph's about to start a busy day when Niall shows up at the flat unannounced and Tom's instantly pleased to see him. Even though she's wary of getting too close to Niall, Steph is forced to admit she needs his help when Niall offers to take Tom to school. They catch up later at MOBS and just as they get chatting, a panicked Darren rushes by asking after Newt. Realising the gravity of the situation, Steph is forced to ask Niall to pick up Tom from school and so gives him her flat keys and races off to find Frankie.
Steph arrives at The Dog to find her anxious mother and manages to persuade her to come clean when the police arrive for Newt's sake. Just as Frankie is in the middle of confessing, Darren walks in with Newt. Frankie hastily back pedals and manages to avoid arousing further suspicion from the policeman. Steph is appalled that Frankie hasn't come clean and the way she's messing with Newt's head, so she tells Frankie that if they run away to Spain then she'll never see Steph again.
When Steph gets home, she finds Niall and Tom having a great time together and although she's pleased for Tom, she finds a smashed photograph of Max idly lying on the floor. Is Tom forgetting about Max too easily and replacing his big brother with the man who killed him?
Michaela uses the fact that Amy needs help with her art project to get closer to Mike. When Mike reveals that he used to be into SCUBA diving, Michaela quickly becomes interested in order to spend more time with him. Michaela also enquires about enrolling on a journalism course at college and turns this to her advantage by asking Mike to show her around.
2403: Mike turns down Michaela

Niall's desperately trying to get in contact with Steph and when he goes round to the flat, he refuses to believe Mandy that Steph has just upped and left. Mandy is furious that Niall won't leave and just as the situation seems as though it might escalate, Warren appears in the doorway. Warren tells Niall to leave and after a minor confrontation, he does, realising that this is not where his fight is. After Niall has disappeared, Mandy tells Warren that she did not need his help. Warren tells Mandy that he thinks it would be for the best if they avoided each other for a while since he and Louise are going to give their relationship a proper go again. Mandy lies and tells Warren that she agrees.
Back at Evissa, Niall compounds his bad day by getting sacked by Louise for speaking out of turn. Feeling desperate and lonely, Niall turns to the only person left - his mother.
Arriving at the McQueens', Myra welcomes Niall in and as they chat, Niall begins to wonder if this is the glorious reconciliation that he has always longed for. But Myra soon reveals that even if she had the chance to find her long lost son, she wouldn't do it. Some things, she says, are better left in the past.
Niall sees red and reaches for the iron, ready to club his unwitting mother but just as he is about to do so, the rest of the McQueen clan pile in through the front door. They all but ignore Niall and as each of them laments their various insignificant plights and Myra takes pity on them. Niall is both disgusted and outraged by his insipient siblings. Niall quietly slips out into the night, certain at last of what he must do - destroy the McQueens.
Amy tells Michaela that she and Sarah are off shopping that afternoon and Michaela, seeing an opportunity to get Mike alone, asks her if she can borrow Amy's keys to study in peace, at the Barnes'. Amy inadvertently advises Michaela to take the plunge with her mystery man, not realising that it's Mike and Michaela is spurred on to finally reveal her love to Amy's dad. Michaela goes to find Mike to tell him that she needs to speak with him as soon as possible about Amy. They arrange to meet back at the Barnes' that afternoon.
When Mike arrives, he is totally shocked to find Michaela in his living room with soft lighting and suggestive aromas. As Michaela pleads her love for him, Mike is forced to let her down as gently as possible. But the rejection is too much for Michaela and she flees the flat as fast as she can.
Gilly urgently needs help on a job decorating the new burger bar, Relish, on the Piazza and when Zak overhears Gilly bemoaning this fact on the phone, he offers his services. Gilly is reluctant but realising he is stuck without Zak's help, he takes him on. Things are going well for the pair and Gilly is beginning to reappraise Zak and his work ethic when disaster strikes. Just as the lads are lifting the new sign for the shop, Zak's phone rings and he absentmindedly lets go of the rope, allowing the sign to hurtle to the ground and smash into pieces. In order to pay off the cost of breaking the sign, the boys are told they'll have to work off their debt as the new employees of Relish…
Later, Myra is looking for a midnight snack in the kitchen when she finds a note from Michaela. It informs her that she has gone to London to enrol on journalism course and escape men for as long as possible…
2404: Mandy and Warren kiss

Calvin is becoming increasingly distracted and worried that the police are going to find out abut Nige, but endeavours to carry on as normal. He heads over to see Warren to try and allay his fears but when Warren tells Calvin that the police had been round to question him about Nige, Calvin panics. Warren assures him that the police were only following up an enquiry about Nige dealing drugs in The Loft but Calvin tells Warren that he can't stand lying to Carmel much longer and he doesn't know what to do.
Carmel is continuing her efforts to befriend Lauren and when she finds a postcard for her from Val, she suggests that Calvin and she will accompany her on a trip to Spain to visit Val and Danny. Lauren's chuffed but when Calvin finds out, he gets annoyed at Carmel for making empty promises that he can't commit to. Lauren is gutted and Carmel can't understand why Calvin's acting like this. Instead of telling her the truth, Calvin tells her that he has to go away for a few days. Carmel begs him to tell her what's going on but before she gets the chance, Calvin has packed his bag and left.
That night, Lauren returns to the flat to find a note from Carmel saying that she's gone away on a spa break and won't be back for a while…
Russ and Tina are desperately trying to get on for the sake of Max but they can't seem to find any common ground. A botched attempt at trying to sleep together is cut short when Nancy returns home from holiday to find the pair of them and baby Max in her flat. Russ goes for a pint with Nancy to explain his situation and before long, they are joined by Zoe and Leila. One pint turns to a few and several hours later, Russ remembers that he has to go back to Tina and Max. Nancy convinces him that he's not that whipped yet and they all go to see new employees Zak and Gilly at Relish.
Meanwhile, Tina is annoyed at being left at home with Max so she decides to go see if she can find Russ. Outside Relish, Tina strolls past with Max in the pram, only to find Russ drunk and larking about with the students. Tina acts like it's a big coincidence and pretends she's not too bothered. Russ takes this as a good sign and invites everyone back to Nancy's for beers. Back at the flat, Tina struggles to hide her aggravation but when Russ points out that it's Nancy's flat and he has no say in who comes and goes, Tina suggests that they might have to find a place of their own.
Louise is delighted that she and Warren have everything back on track and enlists Mandy to help her get her and Warren's wedding plans underway. Mandy feels suitably awkward about it but realises she has no choice. Cindy, spotting the opportunity for mischief, riles Louise about leaving Warren with Mandy, completely unaware that she's actually right. Louise allows Cindy to get to her and the next time she sees Warren, she snaps at him about Sean's death. Warren has had enough and heads to Mandy to complain about Louise.
Mandy tells Warren that she doesn't care and that he needs to make his mind up about who he really wants. Warren goes back to Louise but she's drunk again and acting vile towards him. This is the final straw for Warren as he turns his back on Louise and sets off to find Mandy…
2405: Niall kidnaps Mercedes
Airs on Friday, October 10 2008 at 18:30 BST on Channel 4
Myra encourages Mercedes not to dwell on Malachy or her HIV results and persuades her to run a stall in the HCC jumble sale. Mercedes feels empowered as she flirts with customers, but her confidence is knocked upon seeing Malachy. Mercedes rails against Malachy, insisting he must have despised her to sleep with her knowing he was infected. As Malachy insists it was the exact opposite, noting how much he cares for Mercedes, a confused Mercedes rejects this and strides off.
Reeling from her confrontation with Malachy, Mercedes is unprepared when Niall leaps out and bundles her into an awaiting van. It is suddenly clear that the disappearances of the McQueen girls across the week haven’t been coincidental. Instead, it's something much more sinister…
Warren’s secretly jealous as Louise suggests there’s chemistry between Dom and Mandy. Playing matchmaker, Louise separately invites Dom and Mandy to lunch. Mandy’s humiliated when she arrives to find Warren, Louise and Dom and realises she’s been set up on a double date. After a horrendously awkward lunch the four of them part. Warren visits Mandy at home and apologises for Louise’s matchmaking. As Mandy insists she’s not interested in Dom, she proves it by kissing Warren. Breaking off, Warren checks Mandy knows what they’re getting into. When Mandy confirms with another passionate kiss, Warren’s thrilled as his lustful affairs continues.
Gilly and Zak toast their success with the ladies in the kebab shop, but are aggrieved when Leila arrives to nag them about the menu. She's determined to convince them they need a vegetarian option on the menu but when Kris almost gags on one of her samples, the boys are mocking. When Kris complains about the taste of his chips, the boys are miffed. They soon realise, however, that Leila's sabotaged the cooking oil and decide to throw her out! Gilly feels sorry for her and she's delighted when he agrees to speak to the boss to see if one of her veggie options can be added to the menu.
Nancy comes to Russ' rescue when he feels out of his depth with Max. He's taken aback when Nancy candidly asks if he's ready to be a father. After giving it some thought, he assures her that it's what he wants. But when he turns down a night out in favour of caring for Max, Russ realises he’s not all that comfortable with his new life
