    Niall plays football with Tom

    Warren is still in the dog-house with Louise over his comments about Mandy. As Louise and Mandy pore over Mandy's figures for the bank, Warren enters with breakfast for them both but Louise is unforgiving and convinces Mandy to ditch the coffee for cocktails. Mandy tells Warren that Louise just wants to be taken seriously and offers to plan their wedding as a surprise. Thinking it will be a romantic gesture, Warren agrees to keep it a secret. However, they are caught out when Louise approaches. Already fuelled by Warren being Mandy's knight in shining armour earlier, Louise is furious and lets her jealousy get the better of her. Warren makes amends by asking her to get married in Mauritius but, just as Louise is warming to the idea, Warren lets slip that Mandy has planned it all. As their argument escalates into a slanging match, Warren is driven to call on Mandy for some comfort…

    Niall gets a step closer to Steph by making a friend out of Tom. It's chaos at Steph's as a bored Tom demands to be entertained and when he overhears Tom saying he wants to play football like other boys, Niall has an idea. Returning to Mobs with a football, Niall asks Tom to play with him and a reluctant Steph finally gives in to Tom's pleading while she and a downbeat Tony have a heart-to-heart over their recent problems. Tom's had a great time and invites Niall round for tea, however Steph isn't ready for that and Niall realises he'll have to work harder to gain Steph's trust.

    Elliot is nervous when he gets a text from Sarah inviting him round as she has the house to herself. Malachy and Kris decide to show him how it's done and take him out so he can learn from them. Trying to calm Elliot's nerves, they only serve to make him even more wound up, and as the brothers compete to prove their pulling powers, Elliot is stuck in the middle. Malachy comes unstuck when he inadvertently insults Mandy and Warren immediately comes to her rescue, much to Louise's annoyance. Sarah calls round demanding to know why Elliot stood her up, and he tells her he's scared because he's still being a virgin. Sarah allays Elliot's fears by convincing him that she is happy to wait until he is ready to sleep together.

    Zoe's excited about going to the festival with Mike but a tearful Amy begs Mike to take her to the dentist. Zoe is stung when Mike chooses Amy over her but pretends she isn't bothered and decides to go the festival anyway. Spotting Zak, she offers him the spare ticket and he gladly takes up the chance to spend time with Zoe. As they are about to leave, however, Mike arrives, having had second thoughts and as the loved-up couple head off to the festival, Zak is left out in the cold again …


    Louise and Warren kiss and make up

    Mandy tries to persuade Warren to apologise to Louise but Warren is stubborn and refuses to budge. As a hungover and irritable Louise helps herself to a hair of the dog, Cindy can't resist telling her that Warren stayed at theirs last night. Furious, Louise storms round to Mandy's to have it out with her but backs down when she realises Warren slept on the sofa. Mandy can't understand why Warren and Louise are being so pig-headed and why they won't just apologise to each other. Heeding Mandy's advice, Louise cooks a romantic meal for Warren and promises to try and put Sean to rest, asking Warren if he'll marry her in Mauritius. As they kiss and make up, it looks as though the wedding is very definitely back on…

    Steph grows more uneasy about Tom's dependence on Niall for friendship. Wanting to keep Niall away from Tom, Steph tells Tom that Niall is away, however she has egg on her face when Niall shows up at Mobs with his kite. A stung Niall realises Steph lied about him and backs out, leaving Tom upset and Steph feeling guilty. Steph apologises to Niall but is taken aback when he reveals that he likes her and Niall opens up to Kieron that he thinks he may have put Steph off for good. Later, Steph is surprised to receive a delivery of a park bench dedicated to Max, paid for by Niall. Tom is delighted that Niall remembered he asked for one and, conceding that they need all the friends they can get, Steph agrees to let Niall spend more time with Tom.

    Darren can almost taste the victory as he prepares to sign the insurance papers but Frankie won't play ball and look after the pub. Seeing the chance to make a quick buck, Cindy offers to mind the pub until Darren gets back. Frankie is livid to find Cindy behind the bar when she comes back from hospital and refuses to be sucked in by Darren's good news, reminding Darren in no uncertain terms that it's a hollow victory for her and she will have no part in it.

    A nervous Newt prepares to meet the social worker with Frankie. Fearing they'll send him back to the children's home, he is gobsmacked to hear that he can go home and Frankie wants him back. Frankie and Lauren are delighted by the news but Lauren is puzzled by Newt's quietness. Newt finally opens up to Lauren about Eli's identity and confesses that he's terrified of what will happen when he gets out of hospital – what if Eli comes back?

    Kieron is eager for John Paul to tell Myra about their engagement but John Paul is more reticent. Kieron wants their engagement out in the open and, fuelled by Niall's comments, suggests they tell Myra together - soon. Preoccupied with his plans for going travelling, John Paul agrees they'll tell her tomorrow…


    Newt returns home
    Airs on Wednesday, August 27 2008 at 18:30 BST on Channel 4


    Newt prepares to come home but he is more scared than excited. Darren worries that having Newt around will make it more difficult to conceal Jack being alive and tries to convince Frankie that they would be better off without him there, but Frankie is having none of it. Not ready to face everyone, Newt panics and lashes out at Lauren and Frankie. They manage to convince him that he is part of the family and that they need him home and, scared and alone, Newt finally allows himself to be comforted… Darren arranges to meet the loan shark on Friday to give him the money and Cindy salivates at the prospect that Darren is going to be rich. However, just when he's almost home dry, Darren hears from the insurance company that they are holding off on the money and is petrified when Frankie insists this is Darren's problem – from now on he's on his own.

    Steph decides it's time she should be thinking of moving on. Tom's delighted when the plaque for Max's bench arrives and insists that they put it on straight away. With Jack's name also on the plaque, a guilty Frankie avoids sitting on it with them and heads off to the hospital to pick Newt up. Awkward, Steph wants to thank Niall and invites him round for a drink. As Steph relaxes in Niall's company, she reveals she's been thinking about moving on and how she's going to struggle telling Tom when the time comes. However, Steph is shocked to find that she's left her wedding ring off all day without noticing – is she moving on sooner than she thinks..?

    John Paul gears up to tell Myra that he and Kieron are getting married. John Paul goes round to Myra's but before he can tell her what's on his mind she tells him he's too young to be settling down and he should be out playing the field. This gives John Paul food for thought and suddenly he's not so sure what he wants any more…

    The blood bus is in town and a competitive Malachy persuades Kris to sign up. Mercedes ditches her blind date after spotting him from afar in favour of giving blood with the others. While Mercedes and Malachy are accepted, Kieron and Kris are told they can't give blood because they have an increased risk of infection due to their sexuality. Kris is aghast and vows not to let it go. Having given blood, Malachy milks the situation by pretending to faint and a concerned Mercedes takes him home. However resting is the last thing on their minds…


    John Paul comes clean with Myra
    Airs on Thursday, August 28 2008 at 18:30 BST on Channel 4


    Darren sinks even further into despair when Frankie insists that she's washing her hands of his increasing debt crisis. Darren desperately tries to make Frankie see that he needs her on side, but Frankie is adamant it's Darren's mess and to leave her and Newt out of it. Cindy engineers a date with Darren and is shot down to earth when Darren reveals that Jack hasn't left any money, and deflated even further when she has to pick the bill up herself… Overhearing Darren and Frankie arguing about Jack, Newt is convinced they're talking about him and starts to feel uneasy. Lauren is amazed by how brilliant Newt's diary is but Newt insists that it's because Eli was real, not made up, and he frantically searches for the video he made of him to prove it. Newt is devastated to discover he's the only person in the video – Eli doesn't exist after all.

    John Paul is tense as Kieron pushes him to tell Myra about their engagement. Kieron is insistent they tell Myra today if John Paul really wants to marry him and, faced with little choice, John Paul finally plucks up the courage. Myra is stunned and insists she won't let it happen. However, a stubborn John Paul is adamant she can't tell him what to do and insists they'll get married whether she likes it or not. Kieron goes to see Myra alone, hoping to appease her, but Myra is having none of it. However, Kieron's words have had an effect on her and both John Paul and Kieron are amazed when Myra tells them she's changed her mind – she'll do what she can to support their marriage.

    Malachy and Mercedes try to play down their night of passion. As they wake in each other's arms, both Mercedes and Malachy insist that last night was a one-off and neither of them wants a relationship. Grumpy because he's been kept awake all night by them, Kris tries to wind Malachy up by telling him Russ will be jealous that Malachy slept with his ex-wife and he should tell him before he finds out. Worried, Malachy tentatively approaches Russ but Russ laughs it off and a relieved Malachy rushes off with Mercedes to spend a second night of passion together.

    Niall's attempts to woo Steph with a lunch date go drastically wrong when Cindy accuses Steph of sleeping with the enemy and a catfight breaks out. Niall manages to separate Steph and Cindy but his plans for lunch are ruined. On the back foot, he tries to kiss Steph but it's too soon for her and he backs off, awkward. Has Niall ruined his chances again?


    Darren's happy as the insurance pays out

    Niall's interference rushes John Paul and Kieron from a slow engagement to a speedy marriage. When Kieron confirms they can book the wedding but not for another week, John Paul's relieved. As Kieron reveals to Myra the good news that he has found the woman who fostered her son, Tina advises John Paul not to rush into marriage, regretting she ever walked down the isle. Kieron breaks the news to a happy Myra about his and John Paul's wedding plans. Niall, beaten to exposing John Paul's wedding plans, is left frustrated until he learns from a regretful Myra of his father's past crime and death. Visiting his father's grave Niall questions how he has been forgotten just like his father. A bitter Niall vows that happy families don't stay happy forever…

    Hounded by a hungry loan shark Darren reassures Frankie his plan won't fail. With a deadline and no hope, Frankie begins to pack for Steph's. A distant Darren blanks Cindy as he meets Warren in The Loft, to outline his plans to sell The Dog to Warren. Warren's interest is soon piqued when Darren confirms a knock down price and an agreement the Osbornes will move out. Warren signs the contract for The Dog only for it to be destroyed, as Darren gleefully relays that the insurance company has paid up. Darren taunts Warren and celebrates with Cindy on his plan coming together.

    Keen on helping Elliot to bed Sarah, Malachy learns that Elliott and Sarah's relationship is more about conversation than physicality. Malachy realises that he and Mercedes don't talk at all and tries in vain to find a subject worth talking about to her. Elliot tells Sarah how he wants to be like Malachy but Sarah points out that if she wanted Malachy she would be with him and leans in for a kiss, while Malachy and Mercedes ditch the books for the sheets.

    Newt confides in Lauren over Frankie and Darren hiding things from him. Lauren tries to divert Newt away from the subject but Newt is worried that Frankie has changed her mind about keeping him. Newt reveals to Lauren that he's scared his problems will surface at school, thinking it would easier if they run away together. Lauren begs Newt not to leave and though he's torn, Newt agrees - for now…
