Hollyoaks' actor James Sutton has returned to filming with the Channel 4 soap for a number of shock scenes which will air after his official screen departure.

The 25-year-old, who plays John Paul McQueen in the Chester-based show, announced his decision to quit the soap in June for pastures new.

He filmed the final scenes of his character's storyline arc last month, but agreed to make a brief comeback for a plot which takes place following his on-screen exit.

A Hollyoaks source told DS: "We're thrilled James decided to come back for the episodes. It's like a McQueen family reunion on set but under very different circumstances - John Paul's presence is simply the icing on the cake.

"The cast and crew are currently filming on location for a number of huge episodes and we're sure that the storyline's twists and consequences will definitely come as a shock to viewers."

Sutton's post-departure scenes are due to air mid-October.
