Emmerdale's Andy Sugden will apparently attempt suicide when battered wife Jo finally leaves him.
The violent farmer - played by Kelvin Fletcher - swallows handfuls of pills when wife Jo (Roxanne Pallett) tells him she has had enough and prepares to make a break for freedom, according to The Daily Star.
Jo has been suffering the domestic abuse in silence for ages and her pride has stopped her seeking help. But in the next few weeks Sam Dingle (James Hooton) learns the truth about how she keeps getting 'accidentally injured' on Butlers Farm.
When he takes her to hospital for treatment he tells the doctor her injuries were not an accident. Sam's interest gives Jo the confidence she needs to leave Andy, and that is when he makes his suicide bid.
A show insider said: "It's going to be a huge twist in their story and it will show fans exactly how messed up Andy really is.
"It's gone far beyond him just trying to control Jo. he can't look after himself any more and that feeling of not being in control pushes him over the edge, Naturally, Jo is shocked when she finds out and it has a huge impact on whether she makes a clean break from him or sticks around to see if this time he actually has changed."
