    Tuesday 29 July

Carl (Tom Lister) is sick of hearing Anna’s (Emma Davies) ideas to improve the business and teases her by suggesting she take one of the trucks out. Carl smugly hands over the keys but Anna soon breaks down and is annoyed to realise the petrol tank is empty, thanks to Carl’s prank. Avoiding a near miss, Matthew (Matt Healy) pulls up in his car and relishes finding out who Anna is. Matthew offers Anna a lift back to the village and they get their own back on Carl by pretending the police impounded the truck for being stolen. Carl cottons on that he’s been fooled and is unnerved when Anna gives Matthew a lingering kiss. Afterwards Carl is furious to discover Anna has gone into a property investment with Matthew and wants the De Souza empire to back this investment. But after Anna speaks to Donald (Micheal Jayston), he convinces Carl to sign the cheque to Matthew. Later Carl uses Lexi (Sally Oliver) to make Anna feel jealous and gives her a passionate kiss.

Meanwhile, Chas (Lucy Pargeter) needs Gray (Christopher Villiers) to sign a document for the vets and is surprised to find him drunk. She confides in Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) that he’s almost suicidal. Diane visits him and is shocked by his self-loathing despair. Chas finds Jonny (Richard Grieve) in the café and thanks him for helping Katie out, but it’s clear that Jonny is missing Paul (Mathew Bose). In spite of this, he tells Chas that he’s considering leaving the village without his husband. Later, Diane implores Paul to help Gray, and he is forced to reveal that they have a history together. Diane is shocked, but can she convince Paul to reconsider?

Elsewhere, a guilty David (Matthew Wolfenden) retrieves the Dictaphone and transcribes Rodney’s (Patrick Mower) story before faxing it victoriously to Nicola (Nicola Wheeler). However, Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) sees the pages and comments what a great children’s book it is as it’s already been published by a different author. Realising it isn’t Rodney’s original work; David quickly calls Nicola to stop her submitting it and ruining her chances.

    Wednesday 30 July

Gray (Christopher Villiers) apologises to Paul (Mathew Bose) after hearing of the problems he’s caused between Paul and Jonny (Richard Grieve). As Paul leaves, Jonny approaches determined to make amends and is crushed to see him share a quick embrace with Gray. Paul tries to explain and insists that he feels nothing for Gray. Jonny appears to accept this on the surface but are the cracks beginning to show for Paul and Jonny’s marriage?

Meanwhile Jimmy (Nick Miles) is surprised to learn that Carl (Tom Lister) and Lexi (Sally Oliver) are back together. Anna (Emma Davies) tells Carl she’s having lunch with Matthew (Matt Healy) but he refuses to take the bait and claims he couldn’t care less. Matthew is smitten with Anna as they enjoy lunch. Later Jimmy offers to buy Anna a drink and has pointedly tells him she’s not interested.

Lexi announces that Carrie is getting married in Barbados and is paying for her to fly over. For Anna’s benefit, Carl kisses Lexi goodbye and tells her to have a great time. Anna claims to be wise to Carl’s games but can she give as good as she gets?

Elsewhere, Val (Charlie Hardwick) is furious when Pollard (Chris Chittell) hints that due to the factory crisis they may not be able to go on honeymoon. Val invites Paul along instead, after seeing how upset he is about Jonny. Paul thinks running away isn’t his best option so Val suggests to Pollard they put the honeymoon on hold. Pollard urges her to go alone but will she agree?

    Thursday 31 July

Gray (Christopher Villiers) forces his way into Victoria cottage and demands Katie (Sammy Winward) reveals Perdy’s whereabouts. Katie insists her lips are sealed but this only infuriates Gray further and he physically attacks her. The incident is seen by Paul (Mathew Bose) and he intervenes, striking Gray twice. The drama spills out onto the street and the gathering villagers are appalled to hear that Gray and Paul slept together. Gray tries to deny it but the crowd turns on him to the point where even close friend Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) wants no more to do with him. Can Gray sustain an existence in the village any longer?

Elsewhere, Jonny (Richard Grieve) confides in Katie that he can no longer trust Paul and decides to leave the village. Despite Katie’s insistence that he discusses things with Paul, Jonny leaves a letter on the mantelpiece and drives into the sunset. Later, Paul is a broken man and sobs in Rodney’s (Patrick Mower) arms, fully aware that his marriage is over.

Meanwhile, Jasmine (Jenna-Louise Coleman) complains to Jake (James Baxter) that Anna (Emma Davies) is criticising her work only due to her broken relationship with Miles (Ayden Callaghan). Daz (Luke Tittensor) succumbs to peer pressure from Jake (James Baxter) and takes Anna’s (Emma Davies) car for a ride. Anna complains to Debbie (Charley Webb) who has no choice but to fire Daz. Still eager for fun, the boys notice that one of the Kings’ vans have been left unattended and Jake takes Daz joyriding through the country lanes. However, he takes a sharp bend too quickly and the van slides off the road and slams into a tree. Both boys are unhurt but the van is in a much sorrier state.

Also, Debbie (Charley Webb) is desperate for cash with Carl (Tom Lister) badgering her for mortgage payments. When her attempts to settle some accounts early fail, Debbie shares her woes with Jasmine (Jenna-Louise Coleman) in the Woolpack. Carl tracks her down and though agreeing to an extension on the mortgage, warns her that if she cannot pay he’ll take her garage to settle the account.

Elsewhere, Jimmy (Nick Miles) secretly arranges a date over the internet and tries to hide it from Matthew (Matt Healy). When Matthew finds out, he’s amused to realise Jimmy is meeting a much younger woman and isn’t surprised when Jimmy is stood up. Confiding in his brother that an older woman also gave him her number at the restaurant, Matthew goes behind Jimmy’s back and calls the prospective admirer.
