    Monday, 21 July 2008

Jonny (Richard Grieve) is concerned after Perdy(Georgia Slowe) returns from a shopping trip with lots of baby items. He questions Katie (Sammy Winward) over Perdy’s involvement in the baby’s life and Katie states that if all goes to plan, Gray (Chris Villiers) will never play a part in the baby’s life. She explains she plans to make him pay and will give Perdy and the baby enough money to get away from Gray. Jonny is stunned that even Perdy has no knowledge of this.

Elsewhere Pollard (Chris Chittell) is stunned when the health and safety inspector arrives to examine working conditions. When he notices the fire door has been blocked and other issues outstanding, he concludes that work must stop until they have been rectified. Pollard has no option but to send his workers home. Wondering how the inspector knew they had reopened, Val (Charlie Hardwick) blames Louise (Emily Symons) and confronts her outside the B&B. Will Val bully Louise into making the necessary alterations?

Louise is also troubled after Jamie (Alex Carter) reveals he’s considering their future together following the blackmail. Continuing her attempts to apologise, Louise confronts Jamie once more, but he tells her that Viv (Deena Payne) and Bob (Tony Audenshaw) require an apology, not him. Drawing on his own childhood experiences and discovering his father was in fact Rodney (Patrick Mower), Paul is torn. Meanwhile Gray grows suspicious at Katie’s odd behaviour and summons Paul to his home, sure he knows something. Paul refuses to tell Gray, but Gray cleverly pieces the truth together and realises Katie is planning something drastic with the baby. Gray is disbelieving, but calls the hospital to check on the caesarean and discovers Katie has secretly brought the date forward.

Katie flees and begs Matthew (Matt Healy) to take her to see Perdy. In the car panicking Katie is overcome by pain and after picking-up Perdy, they head to the hospital. Katie realises she’s in labour and Matthew is forced to pull over as Perdy helps Katie give birth to a baby boy just as an ambulance arrives.

Jonny visits Katie and apologises profusely, explaining it was his fault for telling Paul. He convinces Katie she will be safest going back to Victoria cottage with him. Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) is still at the Dingles, refusing to leave without Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams). Gennie reminds her she has to go to her new job at the vets. Chas (Lucy Pargeter) convinces Josh to spend the afternoon with her, leaving Gennie covering the phones. Gennie gets a call from Sam (James Hooton) when Jo (Roxanne Pallett) injures a sheep and, unable to contact anyone, she breaks into the drugs cabinet and rushes to Butlers on her moped. Edna (Shirley Stelfox) arrives at the vets and seeing the broken cabinet, assumes it’s been burgled before calling the police. Gennie bumps into Eli (Joseph Gilgun) as she heads back to the vets, upset at killing the sheep by mistake. The police see her bag filled with drugs and despite her protests, arrest her and Eli for breaking into the vets.

Jo (Roxanne Pallett) is distraught at having knocked down the sheep that has strayed onto the road. As Gennie approaches on the moped she fails to see the animal and hits it again. Sam (James Hooton) looks over the animal and reveals that Gennie has killed it.

Jo feels guilty and breaks down in tears. Sam comforts her, secretly pleased to feel needed by her. Jo gives him a peck on the cheek and thanks him for his ongoing support.
