    Spoilers 7th - 11th july 2008

    Monday 7 July 2008

Lexi (Sally Oliver) is stunned to overhear that Donald (Michael Jayston) is leaving the business and calls Carl (Tom Lister) immediately. Ignoring an urgent message for Donald from a stranger called Anna, Lexi warns Carl that the company will be sold. Despite his reservations, Carl confronts Donald about his plans and Donald wonders aloud whether Carl feels that the business owes him. Carl denies it and states his loyalty towards Donald. Pleased, Donald takes Carl for a drink and announces he's retiring and appointing Carl Managing Director. Will Carl agree and take ownership of De Souzas?

Meanwhile, Marlon (Mark Charnock) is fed up when Viv (Deena Payne) curbs his creativity at the café. Over at the Woolpack, the situation is equally bad when Rodney (Patrick Mower) complains that they haven't fulfilled his food order for Donald's birthday party. Wondering what to do, Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) and Val (Charlie Hardwick) convene at the pub and discover Marlon's fall from grace. Putting old differences aside, the ladies offer Marlon his old job back which he greedily accepts.

Elsewhere, Eli (Joseph Gilgun) arranges a lunch with Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) to discuss the misunderstanding over their kiss. However, an unfortunate slip of the tongue leads Gennie to believe it’s a dinner date. When Eli attempts to explain himself, Gennie laughs off her mistaken actions, insisting she doesn't fancy him.

    Tuesday 8 July

Carl (Tom Lister) greets a stranger called Anna (Emma Davies) and wrongly assumes she's come for an interview. Carl is rattled that she has an extensive knowledge of Donald (Michael Jayston), but agrees to allow her to attend the birthday party. At the event, Anna drops a bombshell and reveals herself to be Donald's daughter, shocking Carl and infuriating her father who explains he disowned her because of her money-grabbing husband. Anna tries to apologise and says her marriage is over but Donald refuses to listen. Warning him not to entrust the business to Carl, Anna states the case that she should inherit it instead. Will Donald's faith in Carl be shaken by his daughter's reappearance?

Also, Katie (Sammy Winward) is unnerved when Gray (Christopher Villiers) tries to arrange a date for the caesarean. Taking control, Katie secretly books herself in for an alternative date in July and blocks Gray from receiving further correspondance from the hospital. Sharing her plan with Chas (Lucy Pargeter), Katie reveals that she will give the baby up for adoption. Can Katie keep such a complex plan secret from Gray?

Meanwhile, Jasmine (Jenna-Louise Coleman) and Jake (James Baxter) flirt with each other at Donald's party, but she is worried to see Miles (Ayden Callaghan) has returned. Rescuing her, Jake calls Jasmine back to the kitchen and under the agreement that the best relationships stem from friendship, the pair share a kiss. A shocked Miles sees the whole thing and confronts his former girlfriend.

    Wednesday 9 July

Anna (Emma Davies) packs her bags when Donald (Michael Jayston) cancels their lunch arrangements to meet with Carl (Tom Lister). Donald pleads with her to stay for Miles' (Ayden Callaghan) sake and, under pressure to recognise his love for Anna, Donald agrees that he wants to build bridges too. Carl is none the wiser and happily assumes Anna has left, only to be surprised when she joins her father in the Woolpack later. Carl watches in annoyance as the De Souza family reminisce, but the remaining tension between father and daughter gives him reason to smile. Anna gets Carl alone later and warns him that she'll take his place as Donald's favourite. Can Carl win the power struggle for the De Souza empire?

Meanwhile, Katie (Sammy Winward) has to cover her tracks when Gray (Christopher Villiers) catches her on an adoption website. Later, meeting with Chas (Lucy Pargeter), Katie is unsure whether to pursue financial compensation from Gray for her ordeal. Chas pushes her to complete a blank cheque that Gray has left lying around but Katie refuses to steal in an underhand way. Will Katie be smart enough to swindle her former beau?

Also, a happy Jasmine (Jenna-Louise Coleman) suggests to Jake (James Baxter) that they tell Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) and Ashley (John Middleton) about their new relationship. Laurel is thrilled for the young couple and they are also pleased to receive Ashley's more tempered blessing. When Ashley and Laurel later go for dinner with the Bishop, they are pleased to see that Jake seems unaffected when helping to look after Arthur in their absence.

    Thursday 10 July

Katie (Sammy Winward) begins the next phase of her plan and invents a sob story about her mum's financial ruin to play on Gray's (Christopher Villiers) sympathies. Knowing what his response will be, Katie suggests asking her mum to stay with them and true to form, Gray counters by offering to pay off her debts. Delighted, Katie follows up by suggesting that they save money by allowing Perdy (Georgia Slowe) to move back in with them. Despite initial reservations, Gray relents. Can Katie continue to lie, cheat and steal her way to destroying Gray's future?

Elsewhere, Carl (Tom Lister) is angered to find Anna (Emma Davies) nosing around his office and the tension between them only intensifies over a dinner arrangement in the Woolpack. Lexi (Sally Oliver) looks on jealously and Carl is forced to explain that they used to be an item. Anna is unimpressed and remarks that she hopes Carl's personal choices don't reflect on his business acumen. Will Anna's mind games force Carl into submission?

Meanwhile, Viv (Deena Payne) can't cope managing two businesses on her own and her mood darkens when Bob (Tony Audenshaw) takes a call from Louise on holiday. Fearing she's revealed to him about her kiss with Freddie, Viv panics. Bob questions her behaviour and Viv is forced to hide behind a weak excuse. Bob decides to confess his fears about Viv's state of mind to Donna (Verity Rushworth).

    Friday 11 July

Katie (Sammy Winward) delights in her scheming when Gray (Christopher Villiers) transfers her mother's money into her own account and then picks up Perdy (Georgia Slowe). With Perdy back in the village, Paul (Mathew Bose) tries to make amends after sleeping with Gray but only succeeds in upsetting his former friend. When Katie notices her tears, she teases the shocking secret from Jonny (Richard Grieve) and has it confirmed by Perdy. Fuelled by her intense hatred for Gray, Katie decides to leave him, but a desperate Perdy convinces her to wait until after the baby is born. Katie agrees, but will her increasing anger lead to mistakes in her master plan?

Meanwhile, Donna (Verity Rushworth) witnesses first hand the troubles Viv (Deena Payne) is experiencing. The atmosphere reaches its peak when Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) makes a veiled comment about prison. Viv loses it and throws the troublemaker out of the café. With Bob (Tony Audenshaw) tied up at the pub, Donna has no options but to pick up the slack for her mother. At the end of the day a visibly emotional Donna explains her fears to Marlon (Mark Charnock) that Viv is about to crack. Can the Hopes stick together in Viv's time of need?

Also, Nicola is confused when Gabby (Annelise Manojlovic) calls her "Trixie" after being insulted by the former. Utterly convinced that Gabby is simple, Nicola is shocked to discover the reasoning behind her nickname when she happens upon Rodney's (Patrick Mower) stories and finds the character of Terrible Trixie has been based on her.

Fuming, Nicola confronts Rodney who tries to explain his characters are fictional but is stumped when Nicola draws attention to another creation - Derek Bollard. Rodney admits his guilt and Nicola seizes upon an opportunity to bargain for her silence.
