    Spoilers 2nd June 08

    Monday, 2 June 2008

Lisa (Jane Cox) reluctantly heads to work as the sole Dingle bread winner, and Val (Charlie Hardwick) is in no mood to give her an easy ride. With a target of 1000 tablecloths to sew, Lisa struggles on and eventually confides in Val that Zak (Steve Halliwell) has left his job. However, Val shows no compassion and it is left to Pollard (Chris Chittell) to provide some unlikely goodwill by handing Lisa the money for some lunch. In the Woolpack, Val spies Lisa and orders her back to work, sparking a slanging match.

Meanwhile, a more demure Sharon (Victoria Hawkins) returns to the village, but Val is quick to hide from her daughter. Curiosity gets the better of her though and, ready for a fight, Val confronts Sharon. Unexpectedly Sharon explains she's come to support her mum in the 'Village Pub of the Year' contest and the two of them bond together in the Woolpack that night. Getting drunk, Val has no idea that the celebration is her surprise hen night. How will the unwitting bride react to a surprise wedding?

Elsewhere, Jasmine (Jenna-Louise Coleman) jokes with Jake (James Baxter) about him being underage in the Woolpack but he surprises her by explaining it's his 18th birthday. When it becomes clear that Mel (Caroline Strong) and Greg (Shaun Prendergast) have forgotten amid their other problems, Jasmine decides to remind them. Later, Jake enjoys spending more time with Jasmine in the Woolpack but Miles (Ayden Callaghan) is jealous of their closeness. Will Miles' fragile disposition cope with a relationship crisis?

    Tuesday 3 June

Val (Charlie Hardwick) storms round to see Lisa (Jane Cox) when the tablecloths aren't delivered on the morning of the contest. On arrival, Val is knocked unconscious when Lisa accidentally opens the door into her face. Lisa agrees to allow Eli (Joseph Gilgun) to take care of Val while she delivers the table cloths, but on her return she finds that Eli has taken Val hostage in the barn. Eli insists that there's money to be made from Val's capture, since she's getting married. A newly awakened Val is horrified to hear the revelation and this turns to fury as she's filled in on Pollard's (Chris Chittell) cheapskate wedding plans. Shocking the Dingles, Val insists that the ransom continue, providing she gets a cut. In agreement, Eli makes the call.

Pollard is distraught to hear of Val's kidnapping and breaks down when he realises he doesn't have the funds to pay the ransom. However, remembering Lisa's hasty retreat after dropping off the table cloths, Pollard smells Dingle involvement. After interrogating the Dingles and them denying any involvement, Pollard opens up to the family and reveals that he truly wanted to give Val her perfect wedding. Hearing his sincerity, Val pops up, hoping for a reconciliation. However, Pollard is aghast and a massive argument erupts between the pair with both insisting the wedding is off. The Dingles quickly grow tired of the war of words and decide to take matters into their own hands. Zak (Steve Halliwell) bundles Pollard and Val into the van and heads to the village. Will either make it to the Church on time?

Also, Marlon (Mark Charnock) is the epitome of stress as he prepares for the judges' arrival. He reaches the neurotic pinnacle when the vegetable delivery fails to materialise and sends all and sundry off to find the ingredients needed for his dishes. In the midst of the anarchy, the judges arrive early and Marlon comes face-to-face with celebrity chef Antony Worrall-Thompson. Despite an unrecognisable menu, Marlon passes inspection with flying colours and is over the moon when Antony suggests he'd like to discuss future culinary ideas. Is Marlon about to become Emmerdale's very own master chef?

    Wednesday 4 June

Ashley (John Middleton) is disheartened when Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) refuses to attend the parental hearing the following day, but Betty (Paula Tilbrook) warns her not to alienate her husband. Her feelings are complicated further when Mel (Caroline Strong) arrives to plead with her not to attend the hearing, insisting that the judge will then leave Arthur (Billy Harrower) with her. Laurel breaks down in tears and when Ashley returns he slams Mel's behaviour. After Mel leaves, Laurel is stunned to hear Ashley exclaim that if she can't accept Arthur, she cannot be part of the family. Will Laurel risk losing everything?

Elsewhere, Marlon (Mark Charnock) is thrilled to have been given Antony Worrall-Thompson's number and calls the chef later that day. He is taken aback when Antony tells him that he's got an audition for a local cookery show and shares his good news with Donna (Verity Rushworth). Desperate to both celebrate and practise, Marlon cooks a romantic meal for Donna in the Woolpack. But a jealous onlooker lurks in the corner, how long can he hide his feelings?

Meanwhile, Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) is furious after the E. coli scandal hampers his efforts at the cattle market and he insists that Jo (Roxanne Pallett) sells the goats. After shopping for a dolls house for Sarah's (Sophia Amber Moore) birthday, Jo hides the gift in the barn and finds Sam (James Hooton) who asks for reassurance about his job. Jo tells him that she'll talk to Andy, but her husband watches from nearby and worries about the subject of their conversation. Andy reacts badly and demands that Jo fire Sam.

    Thursday 5 June

Ashley (John Middleton) leaves for the hearing without Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) but insists she joins him later. Noticing her absence, Mel (Caroline Strong) quizzes her solicitor who explains that it could be decisive for the ruling. Wrestling with her conscience in the village, Laurel can make no firm decision and meanwhile, the hearing begins. The judge acknowledges the difficult nature of the case, but suddenly Laurel enters. The verdict is revealed and Ashley and Laurel are named as Arthur's (Billy Harrower) parents. Mel is devastated and pleads for a change of heart, but the judge insists that Arthur is given to his biological family within 24 hours. Will the Dolands give up their son?

Meanwhile, Jo (Roxanne Pallett) is angry with Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) for firing Jake (James Baxter) on the same day as the hearing, but a relentless Andy warns Jo that Sam (James Hooton) is next. His temper builds even more when he finds the dolls house and berates Jo for buying something so expensive. Scared that he may hit her again, Jo agrees to return it. How long can Jo continue living in fear?

Elsewhere, Ross (Samuel Anderson) admires Donna's (Verity Rushworth) bravery when they talk about her saving him from a drug addict that morning. Returning to Tall Trees, both are stunned when Marlon (Mark Charnock) reveals that he's been hired for the TV slot. Donna is ecstatic for her husband but Ross looks on with envy.

    Friday 6 June

Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) urges Ashley (John MIddleton) to tell Gabby (Annelise Manojlovic) about Arthur's (Billy Harrower) arrival. Meanwhile, a broken Mel (Caroline Strong) and Greg (Shaun Prendergast) say their goodbyes to Arthur and give him to Ashley, while Laurel watches from upstairs. Back home, Mel launches into a furious tirade against Greg, blaming him for what's happened before she collapses in grief into her husband's arms. At the Thomas household, Ashley does his best to explain the situation to Gabby, but his efforts are hampered by Laurel's refusal to spend time with Arthur. Can the Thomases return to a normal family life?

Meanwhile, Val (Charlie Hardwick) agrees to loan money to David (Matthew Wolfenden), little knowing that the cash is in fact to cover Pollard's (Chris Chittell) debts. However, David soon feels the rough end of the bargain when Val expects daily tasks to be completed while the loan is outstanding. The bizarre situation soon spreads gossip when his cleaning staff speculate as to the state of David's finances. Will David reveal his father's secret to safeguard his own reputation?

Elsewhere, Pearl (Meg Johnson) returns from her cruise and her friends are eager to learn what happened with Joe. An unusually guarded Pearl shows off her photographs without making mention of her male admirer. The delay rubs Lily (Anne Charleston) up the wrong way and she demands the gory details. Pearl is embarassed and reveals that Joe misbehaved and was thrown off the cruise.

Emmerdale's been through a rough time over the last number of months and I really do think that the show's 5,000th episode – which sees Val and Pollard's secret wedding day turn out in classic will-they-won't-they style – could be the turning point it needs

If you haven't seen the Yorkshire-based soap in a while, it's well worth tuning in for. The celebratory episode - entitled 'What Price Love' - airs on Tuesday, June 3 on ITV1 at 7pm.

This is what Digital Spy are saying, I know some sources say it is tonight's show, Friday, 30th May. As it says that Val and Eric are supposed to get married in the 5,000th episode, I would say that it is next Tuesday.

    Emmerdale Spoilers 09 - 13 June 08

    Andy's rage mounts
Airs on Monday, June 9 2008 at 19:00 BST on ITV1

Diane organises a birthday party for Sarah but is unable to convince Debbie to attend. However, Debbie asks her to pass onto Andy that she’ll be over to Butlers with a gift for Sarah later.

When Diane reveals her party plans to Jo and Andy, Jo is thrilled – Andy less so, explaining that he feels bad not having organised something himself. When Andy gets back, he’s less than pleased to find Debbie waiting there.

All attempts to be polite go out of the window when he sees that she’s bought the original dolls’ house for Sarah. His fury mounting, is Andy about to get handy with his fists once more?

Elsewhere, after being up all night comforting Arthur, both Ashley and Doug are worried by the fact that Laurel’s practically ignoring the baby. When one of his parishioners asks to see him, Ashley asks Laurel if she can watch Arthur.

A still-reluctant Laurel argues that she has to go shopping so Doug steps in to help. With Laurel resisting all attempts to bond with Arthur, are the couple destined to lose another baby?

Andy catches Jo speaking to Sam
Airs on Tuesday, June 10 2008 at 19:00 BST on ITV1

As Andy struggles to fix Sarah’s dolls house, Jo loses patience, berating him for taking his temper out on his daughter’s present. As she goes upstairs to get Sarah, she warns him that he’d better get his story straight for when she sees what he’s done. As Andy tells Sarah how clumsy he’s been, Jo reluctantly joins in and assures her that it will be mended in no time. Jo remains annoyed.

Later, Andy turns his attentions back to demanding that Jo sacks Sam. When she reacts reluctantly, Andy is insistent. When she later sits down with Sam, he questions what happened to the dolls' house. Feeling increasingly alone, will Jo break her silence to Sam?

Elsewhere, Ashley is still struggling to encourage Arthur to eat. Jake advises him that he was always a bit pernickety unless it was Mel doing the feeding. Back at Mulberry Cottage Laurel still refuses to help with Arthur and reaffirms her belief that he won’t be settled until he’s back with Mel. Meanwhile, over at Tenants, Greg gives Mel the ‘good news’ that he’s found a buyer for the house but is his wife ready to leave Arthur and the village behind?

Meanwhile, concerned that David’s been less than eager to return any of her messages, Sharon steps up her mission to pin him down. Noticing that he’s throwing himself into work, she uses her contacts and announces that she’s found a high profile client – a WAG who needs her city centre apartment cleaning. Reluctant, David slopes off to meet with her and returns having picked up a new client.

Later in the Woolpack, Nicola is annoyed when Sharon and David come in together. Has she a serious rival on her hands?

Laurel's furious when Ashley calls for Mel's help
Airs on Wednesday, June 11 2008 at 19:00 BST on ITV1

Short of sleep and concerned for Arthur’s lack of appetite, Ashley is on his knees. As he desperately tries again to feed him, creating an atmosphere of calm with the curtains closed and music playing, nothing works. Realising that he has only one option, Ashley visits Mel and pleads his case.

Immediately realising that Arthur’s needs come first, Mel heads back with him. Responding to her, Arthur begins to eat. However, when Laurel enters, she’s furious to see that Ashley has called in Mel to help as it’s not fair on anyone. Has Ashley made the wrong decision all along?

Elsewhere, Scarlett packs to spend six weeks in Canada with Carrie and Lexi begins to feel very much alone. Realising that she has no job and few friends she goes to the Woolpack, tail between her legs, and asks Diane for her job back.

Dealing her short shrift for leaving them in the lurch, Diane sends her on her way, explaining that Jasmine’s doing a fine job in her place. David suggests that she can always take a cleaning job, leaving Lexi less than impressed, but can beggars be choosers?

Over at Butlers, Andy acknowledges that he was a little hard on Sam but insists that they simply can’t afford to keep anyone on, Jo takes advantage of his reasonable mood and brings up the dolls house. Andy concedes that Debbie didn’t mean anything by buying the gift and later shocks her by apologising when he drops off Sarah. Is Andy ready to let go of his recent anger?

    Ashley is torn

Airs on Thursday, June 12 2008 at 19:00 BST on ITV1

When Mel turns up to see how Arthur is, Ashley admits that he’s not really eaten anything since she left the previous day. As Mel picks him up and suggests she feed him again, Ashley is torn between Arthur’s welfare and Greg’s steely words the night before.

Meanwhile, Greg is annoyed that Mel has been with the baby once again and when she accuses him of not caring he pointedly reminds her that he’s not theirs and never has been. Regretting his bluntness, Greg is at his wit’s end but will Mel ever be able to accept that Arthur is no longer theirs?

Over at the pub, when Jake orders a pint bang on 12 noon, Jasmine jokingly remarks that it’s a bit early. Lamenting that he doesn’t have that much else to do, she reckons on an idea. When she spots Marlon struggling with a delivery she suggests that Jake lend a hand.

Later, when Miles turns up at the pub, he’s stung to see Jake on the other side of the bar joshing with Jasmine. Does he have a rival in love on his hands?

Elsewhere, as Nicola continues to perform menial tasks for Paddy, Sharon pokes fun. Turning up at the surgery with her local IT girl friend Colette, they swan in and demand that Colette’s tiny designer dog Beau be chipped so that she can take it to Marbella the next day.

Paddy explains that it would be weeks before the dog would be able to leave the country after the procedure. When Colette flashes a wad of fifties, Paddy, incredulous, insists that there’s nothing he can do. However, not one to miss an opportunity, Nicola sees pound signs.

    Miles warns Jake off Jasmine
Airs on Friday, June 13 2008 at 19:00 BST on ITV1

From Digital SpyAs Jake starts his trial in the pub kitchen, he and Jasmine continue to tease each other. When he cuts his finger, Jasmine performs some first aid but when she makes his finger sting, she’s amused and he vows to get her back.

Later, he makes her a sandwich laced with chilli and the two begin a food fight which spills out in the bar, landing food on a perturbed Miles. Later in the toilets he warns Jake off Jasmine. When Jake mentions this to her, she’s annoyed and storms off to see Miles at Holdgate. Has his jealous warning to Jake massively backfired?

Elsewhere, struggling to find somewhere to keep Beau, Nicola’s forced to leave him at home, against Rodney’s express wishes. When Beau does a grand job of wrecking the lounge, Rodney isn’t too pleased but is soon charmed by the tiny terror. Pleased, Nicola is thrilled to receive a call from Colette saying that her friends are interested in her services. Is it destined to be a dog's life for Nicola?

Ashley decides that it’s time that they all spent some time as a family and, instructing Laurel to throw herself and Gabby a sickie, decides that they should all go on a picnic. Enjoying their day out, Laurel is pleased to see Gabby so happy but can’t bring herself to get close to Arthur. Is Ashley fighting a losing battle?
