    Spoiler 20/01/08

    Monday 21 January 2008

Sam's (James Hooton) nerves get the better of him when Ross (Samuel Anderson) interrupts his last job for Eli (Joseph Gilgun). Ross asks for a lift and Sam's erratic driving is his undoing. When a package of drugs falls out, Ross arrests Sam for possession. Under police questionning Sam resists the temptation to shop Eli and is told to expect two years in prison for his crime. Will Sam buckle to safeguard his future with Samson (Ben Shooter)?

Meanwhile, Carl (Tom Lister) is incensed when Matthew (Matt Healy) goes over his head and cancels the order for new refuse trucks. Taking his troubles to Jimmy (Nick Miles), Carl becomes frustrated that he too agrees with Matthew's course of action. With his hands tied in the business Carl tries a new approach and apologises to Matthew for over stepping the mark. But is Carl content to merely tow the line?

    Tuesday 22 January

After a night in jail Sam (James Hooton) confesses to Donna (Verity Rushworth) that Eli (Joseph Gilgun) is the drugs kingpin. When Eli is arrested in the village, Lily (Anne Charleston) panics and confesses her part to Edna (Shirley Stelfox). Edna is mortified when the police search her house and find cannabis, leading to Lily's arrest. Desperate to avoid more shame, Edna finds Zak (Steve Halliwell) and the two of them dispose of Lily's cannabis stash at Home Farm. With the evidence destroyed, Lily is released and thanks Edna for her efforts. In tears, Edna berates her sister for lying and asks her to leave forever. Is there any way back from Lily's latest indiscretion?

Also, Eli's brash exterior gets him nowhere with the police and Shane (Paul McEwan) threatens to plant false evidence at his house unless he gives them something concrete. Under pressure, Eli gives up Lily's involvement and is eventually released. Returning to the Dingles, Eli is forced into confessing the whole story to Zak and the Dingle patriarch orders him to pack his bags. Has Eli burnt his bridges for the last time?

Elsewhere, Mel (Caroline Strong) returns a box of photographs to Jack (Clive Hornby) and he begins to reminisce with her. Mel breaks down and explains how her own relationship with Greg (Shaun Prendergast) is faltering. Jack puts his arm round her for comfort but the pair are embarrassed when Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) comes home. After Mel leaves, Victoria ribs Jack about his new "romance". Jack dismisses it, but might he find happiness with another woman?

    Wednesday 23 January

Terry (Billy Hartman) makes a call to social services after a run-in with Sam (James Hooton) but worries when they turn up to visit the young father. Lisa (Jane Cox) shows up at the same time and together with the social worker, tries to convince Sam that he might need some help taking care of Samson (Ben Shooter). Sam is furious and throws a plate of beans at the women, driving them from the house. Later Lisa tries again and asks Sam to return to the Dingles. He refuses but the social worker warns him that if he doesn't, they have every right to take Samson into care.

Elsewhere, Edna (Shirley Stelfox) is shocked when Pearl (Meg Johnson) explains that she has taken Lily (Anne Charleston) to the airport. Pearl goes to spread the news to Turner (Richard Thorp), Sandy (Freddie Jones) and Betty (Paula Tilbrook) and reads a goodbye letter out on Lily's behalf. Zak (Steve Halliwell) overhears them speculating on the reasons for her departure and visits Edna himself. He asks why they went to the trouble to clear Lily if not to allow her to remain in the village. Edna is defiant and states it was Lily's decision to leave. Is she kidding herself?

Meanwhile, Donna (Verity Rushworth) is angered when Shane (Paul McEwan) uses her Dingle association against her. She complains to Marlon (Mark Charnock) about her problems at work and makes an effort to remind the villagers that she's serious about her career. Eager to make a point she tells Marlon that nothing will stop her becoming a successful police officer. Will someone dare step across Donna's thin blue line?

    Thursday 24 January

Sam (James Hooton) accuses Lisa (Jane Cox) of calling social services, leading Duke (Dicken Ashworth) to say that it was Terry (Billy Hartman). Realising that something needs to be done, Lisa invites the social worker to the Dingles where she and Zak (Steve Halliwell) are told that they may have to apply for custody of Samson (Ben Shooter) themselves to stop him being taken into care. Zak is furious and storms out, but Lisa begs him to see that it's their only option. Zak is determined to let Sam have a chance to change his mind, but is it already too late?

At the Woolpack, Val (Charlie Hardwick) tries to ease her anxiety over the operation by smoking a cigarette, only for Donna (Verity Rushworth) to remind her that it's against the law. A tug-of-war begins with Val lighting up another and Donna stubbing it out. Donna loses her temper and confiscates Val's cigarettes, earning a thump for her troubles. Fuming, Donna arrests Val for assaulting a police officer and she later receives a caution. Desperate for revenge, Val threatens to cut Marlon's (Mark Charnock) hours at the pub and then bars Donna completely. Will Val regret blowing smoke in the face of Donna's authority?

Meanwhile, under pressure from the other inmates about Jo (Roxanne Pallett) leaving him, Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) makes a call and urges her to marry him in prison. Feigning enthusiasm, Jo is deeply unhappy about the idea. Talking to Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy), Jo shares her concerns and Laurel reminds her that they must compromise. Can Jo convince Andy that it's ok to wait?

    Friday 25 January

Katie (Sammy Winward) is upset to find herself in the middle of another argument between Gray (Christopher Villiers) and Perdy (Georgia Slowe). However, that evening she attends one of Gray's parties and the pair are embarrassed when she's mistaken for Gray's girlfriend. A shared moment follows and Katie later confides in Chas (Lucy Pargeter) that she's sure Gray has started to return her feelings for him. Can Gray move past his issues with Perdy and look for a future with another woman?

Elsewhere, Zak (Steve Halliwell) and Lisa (Jane Cox) find out that Sam's (James Hooton) heating is broken and ask him to allow Samson (Ben Shooter) to stay at the Dingles until it's fixed. Sam's rejection of the idea annoys Zak and he tells Carl (Tom Lister) to sort the boiler out. Sam's lies are exposed when Carl discovers the thermostat turned down and warns Sam to sort himself out or move. With things looking bleak, a glimmer of hope appears from the most unlikely of places. Has Shadrach (Andy Devine) managed to change Sam's mind about moving?

Also, Duke (Dicken Ashworth) is surprised to find Ryan (Reece Noi) waiting at his door and the youngster opens up to him about the problems with his mum's new boyfriend. Duke waits to talk with Terry (Billy Hartman), who makes the point that Ryan needs Duke. Will Duke leave the village to return to his old stomping ground?

I always thought that Sam cannot cope by himself looking after Samson. I hope he moves back in with Lisa and Zak.
