Actor Jamie Borthwick may have only recently returned to EastEnders, but he's wasting no time in letting spoilers slip.

Borthwick's homeless character Jay Brown previously left the Square after his relationship with underage Linzi Bragg was discovered. However, a chance encounter with Pam Coker at a shelter persuaded him to come back.

Looking ahead, the 22-year-old actor is already filming this year's Christmas episodes and he teased to the Radio Times: "It's not how it usually is this Christmas."

"Expect a bit of a shock. It's a mixture of happy and low-key," he added.

Though we'll miss the explosive festive episodes of yesteryear, we're excited to see this new direction for the soap.

Since Sean O'Connor came on board the series as executive producer earlier this year, EastEnders has taken a more back-to-basics approach, and it appears that will spill over into the holiday season.

This approach is certainly working well at the moment and is doing wonders to repair characters ruined by DTC's sensationalism. Unfortunately, slates can't be wiped clean but SOC is definitely trying his best to tidy them up.
