Susan's pride takes a battering

Toadie's gutted when Steph turns his very public marriage proposal down, but bravely covers his hurt. Steph senses it, but doesn't know how to resolve the situation, especially with Valda arriving unexpectedly into the mix. After a further frank conversation with Toadie, Steph understands that someone has to give ground or she and Toadie will remain at an emotional impasse. Steph takes Toadie for a ride to the beach and offers her heart up with some moving, personal vows.
Declan and Bridget's URST continues to bloom, fuelled by Steve and Miranda's interference. But when Declan and Bridget take another joyride, Bridget's teen angst sees her encourage Declan to take part in an impromptu drag-race with school nemesis, Justin Hunter. When they lose, Bridget responds to Justin's taunting by damaging Justin's brother's car - and suddenly things turn dangerous. A real race begins, with Justin and his brother's pursuing them across town - leaving Dec and Bridget stranded in an alleyway and in terrible danger.
Playing down her symptoms, Susan’s pride takes a battering in the wake of her diagnosis.
Rachel returns the exam to Susan's briefcase, hoping Susan will think she misplaced it and call off the inquisition at school, but Karl almost catches her. The stakes for Rachel climb higher as Susan reveals that Rachel has been accepted into an advanced literature program. Rachel can only squirm with guilt when Susan and Karl praise her - she knows she hasn't been very praiseworthy at all lately.
Justin arrives in Ramsay Street

Steph cops flak from the residents of Erinsborough when Stingray’s memorial wall is about to be repainted – and is forced to choose between supporting her friends of standing by the council’s decision. Steph sides with her friends, and in doing so understands that she will now have an uphill battle with the council.
Steph and Toadie announce their engagement, but it becomes clear through a chat with Valda that Steph’s view of their future might not be the same as Toadie’s. When Toadie gives her an engagement ring, Steph realises that she and Toadie need another chat. They hammer out a compromise, but it’s not exactly the rosy engagement Toadie’s been dreaming of.
Declan and Bridget narrowly escape school thug Justin and the thrill of the chase gets their blood pumping. But their romantic attraction takes a back seat when they return to Declan’s car and find that Justin and his brothers have painted graffiti around the car. Declan blames Bridget, and a hurt Bridget goes out of her way to organize for the car repair, also offering to pay for the damages. Declan accepts the money, but later gives half back to Bridget, acknowledging their mutual guilt in the affair. A détente for them – until Justin arrives in Ramsay Street, laying down a drag racing gauntlet to Declan.
Frazer and Rosie delay dealing with the compensation money again, but Frazer is tempted to “invest” it in a sure thing a racing mate puts him onto. With Rosie being asked to give a speech to her alumni at Melbourne Uni, the stakes for her career and their marriage are high. Will Frazer give in to temptation?
Rosie learns that Diana has been offered a high profile case by her Q.C. ex-husband. But Diana explains she turned the case down and Rosie intuits that relations between Diana and her ex-husband are strained. Later, Diana puts Rosie forward to deliver a talk to university students, reasoning that Rosie is still passionate about the law – and life in general. Rosie begins to suspect her new hero is nursing a badly broken heart.
Ringo confesses to Susan

Rachel’s plan to replace the missing exam and fool Susan into believing she’d misplaced it backfires when Karl puts two and two together and confronts her with his suspicions. Covering for Ringo, Rachel stoically accepts first Karl’s then Susan’s recriminations. Later, she covers when Ringo wonders what is wrong, knowing he will get in more trouble than her if the truth comes out. Zeke chastises his sister for her sacrifice, not deeming Ringo worth the trouble, and later goes to Ringo and tells him to be a man and take the consequences of his own actions. Stunned to hear that Rachel has been busted for his crime, Ringo wastes no time in fronting up to Susan – it was him, not Rachel.
Frazer is given second thoughts regarding his scheme to bet his compo money on a fixed race when Pepper talks of trust. Later, however, Rosie receives a call from the bank checking that a large withdrawal is legitimate. She’s deeply concerned about what Frazer might be up to, and when she spots him with a bookie, suspects the worst. But Frazer has not betrayed her trust. Rosie is grateful but sad – why didn’t he feel he could talk to her? They resolve to be better friends within their marriage, and Frazer vows to get a real job and quit professional gambling.
After Adam is distant with her, Pepper realises that their relationship has suffered after her attack on his partner Sophie. She tries to justify her behaviour, but since she still won’t tell Adam the truth about her past with Sophie, Adam becomes impatient with her lack of confidence. Feeling fragile, Pepper suffers another set back when she’s presenting her idea for extending the school gym to senior teachers, allowing herself to be ridiculed. Later, Adam sympathises and bolsters her confidence, and she tries again with Susan who is impressed, but who also adds a ride – Pepper needs to learn to fight her corner at the right time.
With Rosie fretting about Frazer may have done with their nest-egg, Diana advises her to trust the man she’s married and not let suspicion poison their relationship. Spurred on by her own advice, Diana decides to take up the big case her ex-husband has offered her and perhaps give their relationship another chance.
Nick vows to make Paul pay

Laura’s shame at lying to Paul and Rebecca gets too much, and Nick has to push hard to make her try one last ploy for “justice” – asking Paul for a big pay out. When Paul cries poor, Laura thinks he’s been lying all along and his apparent remorseful deeds are mere platitudes. Furious, she steals his bankcard to prove him false. But when Paul’s accounts turn up empty, lost Laura breaks down and calls the whole plan off, declaring that it is she, and not Paul, who bears the most guilt for Gus’s lonely death. Nick can’t stand to see his beloved slip back into her destructive, guilt-ridden grief, and vows that he will make Paul pay for a fresh start for her – somehow.
Ringo’s confession sees him crushed by the fallout from furious Frazer who wants to send him back to their parents. But Rosie convinces him not to abandon his younger brother. Ringo stoically accepts his punishment of suspension but hits the roof at the threat of Frazer preventing him from competing in the marathon. Feeling more and more as if he can control nothing in his life, Ringo is offered a lifeline from loyal Rachel. Having acknowledged to Susan that she simply can’t stop loving him, Rachel’s presence sees Ringo give in and kiss her once more – but are these two getting back together in the best or the worst way possible?
Harold and Lou find themselves intrigued by Valda’s new on-line business selling plus-size lingerie but for different reasons. Harold has long been a sucker for the frilly stuff, but Lou simply can’t resist learning about new ways to make a buck. And despite the pain, he can’t resist sparring with his old pal Valda either!
Elle finds herself in the middle of a macho stoush when Oliver and Riley come to blows over how they think she should be treated. Questioning Riley’s overprotective streak, Elle has to wonder if he’s letting jealousy override their ‘friends only’ pact. Riley assures her he only wants to be her mate – but privately it’s clear that he wants more from Elle.
Elle's nearly busted

Elle’s suspicions of Laura escalate when Paul realises that his bankcard is missing. But when Nick discovers Paul has no access to his money – and Elle almost busts the sham - guilty Laura wants to put a stop to their dangerous plan and returns the card to Paul.
Despite this, Elle’s misgivings about Laura only escalate and she sneaks into Laura’s hotel room in the hope of finding evidence to support her doubts. But she in turn is nearly busted too, and Elle is forced to secret herself in the bathroom where she overhears Nick and Laura reveal their true colours. Is Elle about to be exposed?
Trusting Miranda and Steve remain blind to Bridget’s deception as she leaves the house to participate in an illegal street race with Declan. Both teens meet archenemy Justin, who ups the stakes, suggesting Declan surrender his car if he loses. While on patrol, Adam and Sophie get caught up in a high speed car chase.
Panicked, Declan and Bridget manage to escape the police and vow never to it again. But the teen’s relief is short-lived when both are later ambushed by the police - and their parents! Rebecca fears she may lose her son as Adam outlines the dire consequences of Declan’s behaviour: he may go to gaol.
Angry Pepper takes the gloves off when messed-up Sophie makes a move on Adam. It’s all out in the open now – high school bulling, boyfriend stealing, the lot!
