Lusardi's husband to play 'Emmerdale' love

Sam Kane has signed up to appear in three episodes of Emmerdale as the long lost love of Carrie, who is played by his real-life wife Linda Lusardi.

The former Coronation Street and Brookside actor will play Nick, who turns up in the village in the New Year and forces Carrie to choose between being with the love of her life or with her daughter Scarlett (Kelsey-Beth Crossley).

Kane said of the role: "I’ve always been a big fan of Emmerdale and have enjoyed it even more since Linda joined last year. I’m really excited about playing Nick. Working with Linda always makes for a good day at the office!"

Lusardi said: "It will be fantastic to work together again and a really great opportunity for us both. Because there’s such a great chemistry between us, we hope that this will transfer through to Carrie and Nick, and the old flames will sizzle on screen!"

The episodes will be broadcast in January.
