    Mother Seeks Girl's Hysterectomy

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7032736.stm

Is this right? Should her mother/doctor be allowed to perform this procedure without the girl's consent?

I think the operation is in the daughter's best interests. Katie has a mental age of 18months, she can't walk, talk or communicate. She'll never be able to live a normal life and have children. Why should she go through the indignity of it all when, at the end of the day, she can never have children and a uterus is of no use to her?

If she has the mental age of 18 months, and will never be able to lead a normal life etc then I think she should...I mean it's bad enough for regular women but the discomfort and hassle for her and her mother must be unbearable..
