Coming soon to Soapboards is a new drama, about the scandalous lives of a Premiership football team. Halesowen United FC is under new ownership: Micheal Aston and his wife Michelle move to London to salvage their failing marriage. Many see Micheal as the saviour of the flagging club, but he soon realises that owning a club is not a walk in the park.

The players are premadonnas, their other halves are out of control, and there’s just as much action off the pitch as on the pitch. Inspired by popular dramas Footballers Wives and Dream Team, The Beautiful Game is an 8 week long series bringing readers sex, scandal and soccer by the bucketload.

Micheal Aston (Leslie Grantham)

Micheal is the chairman and owner of Halesowen United FC. Extremly rich, and self opinionated - Micheal has had a long term passion for the sport, and many see Micheal's arrival at the club as the new age of the once flagging Halesowen United. Micheal moves to London in order to start afresh his marraige with wife Jenny, following her affair with his son.



Jenny Aston (Michelle Collins)

Micheal’s second wife. Jenny is a lady of leisure, living the glamorous life, she is the height of fashion. She is the desperate housewife who has had affairs in the past. With a team of 11 sexual fuelled footballers, how long before she resorts back to her old ways?



Charlie Nelson (Gilly Gilchrist)

Charlie is Micheal’s left hand man. Charlie has been in the game for years, and has many a Football trophy on his mantelpiece. Micheal is the money, Charlie is the brains behind the club, and together they are determined to get "The Lions" to the top of the league.

Colin McCan (Jeremy Sheffield)

Captain of "The Lions", Colin has been with the team for years, and holds the club closely to his heart. Fast approaching retirements Colin is on edge, believing he is going to be dropped from the squad. Behind closed doors he is insecure and on the verge of paranoia, he needs his wife Faith to control him.



Sean Carter (Nigel Harman)

Newly signed striker to Halesowen United, Sean has defected from another local team in a mega bucks sign over. Micheal lies his hopes on being the saviour of "The Lions". Hotly tipped to become the new captain, Colin soon begins to worry that Sean will outshine him and a bitter rivalry forms. Sean is a ladies man and soon see’s himself becoming attracted to the forbidden fruit: Faith McCan...



Luke Williams (Phillip Olivier)

The wonderboy of the Lions, Luke is being tipped as the South’s answer to Wayne Rooney. Luke is young, and enjoying all the perks of a footballers lifestyle, a glamorous girlfriend, expensive car and house, what else could he want? He will soon discover that what he wants most, will leave him out of his depth...



Noel Roberts (Ashley Walters)

"The Lions" goalkeeper. Noel has a shady past, and has gained a reputation as a bad boy. Despite having everyone to loose, Noel continues to get his hands dirty, which could spell trouble for his latest love intrest...



Jamie Cox (Matt Di Angelo)

A hit in the Under 21s squad, Charlie Nelson soon sees the potential of this rising star and convinces Micheal to give him a place in the main squad. As Jamie gets used to the press exposure and his new found fame, he is hiding a scandalous secret that will blow the club apart if anyone were to find out!

The captain’s wife. Faith is a headstrong and gutsy women, who is high on the hierarchy of the Halesowen United WAGS. Faith is a fighter, who will do anything to protect her and Colin’s financial security and luxury lifestyle.



Rachel Walker (Sienna Miller)

Rachel is Luke’s sexy, model girlfriend. Rachel is one of the best model’s in the industry, selling out any magazine that she’s front cover on. Rachel despises the WAGS that trade off their relationship status alone; she is feisty and confident, and **** hot in bed. But away from the cameras she is hiding some seriously dark addictions...



Charley Johnson (Tiana Benjamin)

Style over substance, Charley is good-looking but little else. A south London IT Girl Charley can’t believe her luck when she bags new Lion’s striker Sean Carter, and begins to get delusions of grandeur, as she adapts to living the WAG lifestyle.



Jess Aston (Gemma Atkinson)

Daddy’s life princess, Jess lives the life luxury without having to work for it. Much like her father, Jess is incredibly stuck up and opinionated. Her life consists of shopping, clubbing and pulling men. There is a resentment between her and step mom Jenny, over the way she stole Micheal off her mom.



Danielle Nelson (Lou Baitley)

The daughter of “Lions” manager Charlie, Danielle prefers to spend her days down the training ground, eying up the male totty rather than studying. Image conscious, Danielle is a wannabe model, who would be a natural to the WAG lifestyle, if only she could bag herself a footballer…
