HOLBY CITY character Connie Beauchamp, played by actress Amanda Mealing, will be making a guest appearance in the new series of CASUALTY.

Surgeon Connie will appear in series opener of sister show CASUALTY when Series 22 starts in September as the team struggle with an explosion.

The character of Connie has made previous appearances in Casualty@Holby specials, however this is the first time her character has been seen in a CASUALTY episode.

Not another one surely? They seem to have an explosion at the start of each series.

Casualty may be coming close to the end of its current series, but die-hard fans of the long-running medical drama are in for a treat when it returns in September.

Holby City's Connie Beauchamp (played by Amanda Mealing) will venture into the emergency department to guest star in the opening episode, as the A&E team struggle to cope with the aftermath of an explosion.

Those unfamiliar with the show may wonder what all the fuss is about, but this is a historic move.

It's the first time Connie, affectionately known as the Ice Maiden, has set foot in the department during an ordinary edition of the drama - previously she's only featured in the explosive Casualty @ Holby specials.

Can you imagine how Stitch (Peter O'Brien) and co will react to her no-nonsense style of doing things?

And she'll probably eat Nathan (Ben Price) for breakfast.

Little does she know that Stitch aint gonna be there when she arrives.

    From the BBC site:

Casualty returns to our screens with a thrilling two-parter, involving a bus explosion caused by animal rights extremists.

The series sees the arrival of several intriguing new characters. Dr Ruth Winters (played by Georgia Taylor aka Corrie's Toyah) and fellow doctor Toby de Silva (Matthew Needham) are thrown in at the deep end. Meanwhile, dishy new consultant Adam Trueman (Tristan Gemmill, London's Burning) arrives in a rather unorthodox fashion.

The last series saw the departure of maverick doc Stitch and the untimely demise of Selena. Rumour has it several more beloved characters will be leaving our screens this series.

The questions on everyone's lips are just how will Nathan cope with Selena's baby? Will Harry have a change of heart and return to medicine? Can Guppy change his ways?

Don't miss the new series starting on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 September.
