Winona Ryder, ‘House’ Star Join ‘Star Trek’ Film

In the past couple of days, we’ve learned of two more females added to the upcoming Star Trek film. Winona Ryder (The Age of Innocence) and Jennifer Morrison (House) will now be joining actress Zoe Saldana in the male-heavy cast.

Although director J.J. Abrams is being tight-lipped about Morrison’s role in the film, he has denied speculation that she will play secretary Yeoman Rand. Meanwhile Ryder has been cast as Amanda Grayson, the human mother of young Spock (Zachary Quinto). Saldana, as previously announced, will be starring as Lt. Uhura.

Cross plays Spock's dad in new 'Star Trek'

Ben Cross has signed up to play Spock's father in the new Star Trek movie.

The British actor is the latest addition the cast, which already includes Heroes star Zachary Quinto as Spock, Eric Bana as the villian and Simon Pegg as Scotty.

Director JJ Abrams' film will see Cross star alongside Winona Ryder, who takes on the role of Spock's mother Amanda Grayson.

Cross is famous for his roles in Chariots of Fire and First Knight.

J.J. Abrams' upcoming "Star Trek" sequel finally has a title. The latest installment in the ongoing adventures of the U.S.S. Enterprise has been christened "Star Trek Into Darkness."

The follow-up to the 2009 reboot will once again star Chris Pine as Captain Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Mr. Spock and Karl Urban as Dr. McCoy, with Abrams returning as director.

Benedict Cumberbatch, who is best known for his work on the BBC mystery series "Sherlock," will play the villain. The film debuts on May 17, 2013.

Details of the film have been kept tightly under wraps, but in an interview with TheWrap last week Quinto promised that the sequel will be "bigger" and "bolder."
