Janelle worries she’s lost newfound daughter Anne forever, but is infuriated when Loris takes a desperate Bree to find the fleeing Baxters at the airport. Rejected and self-piteous, Bree soon realises her quest to find her real family is hopeless. When Bree and Loris return home, Janelle berates Loris for disrespecting her parental authority and tells Loris she will never live with the Timmins family!

Feeling disempowered after Janelle’s blasting, Loris announces to good friend Harold that she intends to buy into Lassiter’s. Harold urges caution but Loris is confident she can handle Paul. Paul can hardly believe his luck at finding such a gullible investor but soon suspects Loris’s ‘naivety’ is feigned and refuses to sell her the controlling portion of Lassiter’s she’s after. A deal is struck but Loris refuses to be beaten by Paul and is left determined to get exactly what she wants.

Ned and Katya realise they share an embarrassing secret – they both love the Backstreet Boys! Their friendship strengthens but Katya worries Ned’s only interested in unobtainable women and decides it’s time she played hard to get.

Elle’s angry that her father’s been persuaded by Max he’ll soon have evidence against her. Paul’s furious but, seeing the pain she’s causing everyone, Elle’s victory is hollow. Max signs himself into voluntary psychiatric care, and Steph and Boyd wonder when he’ll be out again.

Sky dreams of telling Dylan he’s not the father of her baby, and that he accepts the fact. Back in the real world, she keeps her secret, which continues to take a toll as her stress prevents her being able to eat. When she faints, she’s only just able to pass it off as wedding excitement.

Karl and Susan continue to struggle with Audrey’s antipathy to Karl. Another session with the pet therapist, Doctor Little, sees Karl humiliated but a step closer to canine-human harmony. He’s appalled at the cost of therapy, but does a deal to get discount - he’ll pimp for Doctor Little.

Steph’s distressed to find Max is a shell of himself the next morning but Lyn encourages her to stay strong for her husband’s benefit. At his first therapy session with Paul’s psychiatrist, Max is angered by a diagnosis that discounts mental illness – he’s convinced his recent actions aren’t those of someone in full control of their faculties. On Steph’s subsequent visit, Max’s perception of reality truly does start to skew; is it possible poor Max has been driven insane?

Carmella realises the only way to move forward with her life is to confront the couple who adopted her cousin’s baby. Carmella pleads with the baby’s adoptive mother to at least allow Teresa some form of contact with her child. But to Carmella’s horror, she learns that the baby has died…
