AXED ITV1 drama Bad Girls has been sold to a US cable channel for gays, lesbians and transsexuals.

The series set in a women’s jail was dropped because of poor ratings earlier this year.

A spokeswoman for makers Shed Productions said: “All eight series – more than 100 hours have been sold to the cable channel Logo which specialises in programmes for gays, lesbians and transsexuals.

“It’s a very big boost for the company especially after Bad Girls and our other drama Footballers’ Wives ending within months of each other.”

Bad Girls has been a huge hit with homosexuals since it began in 1999 because of its lesbian storylines. But it will bow out with a Christmas special next month.

Shed says that a West End musical version of the show will also take to the stage in September 2007.

The sale of the episodes helped Shed to increase its profits by 94 per cent to £13m for its last financial year.
