ITV1 Network Wednesday 4 October 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM

    spoiler:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DC Terry Perkins (BRUCE BYRON) is called out to see Max Little (JOSEPH TRAYNOR), an ex-con who Superintendent John Heaton (DANIEL FLYNN) has ask him to supervise.

Terry discovers that Max has just been sacked for turning up for work smelling of alcohol. Max tells Terry that he is still upset that his young son, Taylor (BOBBY LOCKWOOD) still believes he is his older brother and not his father. He is also angry that his mum’s boyfriend, Barry Green (RUPERT FARLEY), is turning Taylor against him.

PCs Will Fletcher (GARY LUCY) and Dan Casper (CHRIS JARVIS) attend a shout at Robbie Owen’s (HEATON ASHTON) Truck Stop Café which has been vandalised and passes the seemingly suspicious case onto Terry and Inspector Gina Gold (ROBERTA TAYLOR). Terry and Gina observe the café and are stunned when Taylor arrives to accept an envelope stuffed with cash from Owen. They arrest Taylor on suspicion of blackmail and whilst in custody, Taylor asks for Barry to be the responsible adult for the interview.

Barry insists Taylor is working for him and was just collecting money for services rendered by his security company but, when Heaton admits there is history between him and Barry, Terry realises the case won’t be an easy one to solve.

Heaton, Terry and Gina decide to put an obbo on Barry’s place of work to see if they can find out what is really going on. Outside his office, Dan and Terry see Robbie Owen and three other men jump out of a van and head inside with baseball bats. They start to smash the place up and the team head inside to arrest them. They are horrified to find a semi-conscious Taylor on the ground.

Meanwhile, outside a drop-in centre, PCs Yvonne Hemmingway (MICHELE AUSTIN) and Honey Harman (KIM TIDDY) find Billy Aldridge (ADAM DEACON) and friends catapulting water bombs at homeless man, Irish Tommy.

PC Diane Noble (KAYE WRAGG) and Reg Hollis (JEFF STEWART) arrive as back-up and Diane is livid when she is soaked by one of the water bombs.

Yvonne and Honey later discover Tommy, naked, and he admits that Billy has stolen his clothes. They take him to the station wear he dresses in clothes found in the lost property and the officers take a statement. Later, Yvonne is astounded to see Billy and his friends hosing Tommy down with a car wash power-jet in the middle of the street after two warnings. Yvonne turns the tables and soaks Billy to teach him a lesson unaware that she is being filmed by a bystander with their camera phone.

Back at Sun Hill, Heaton tells Gina that DAC Georgia Hobbs (KAZIA PELKA) is visiting them today and asks her advice on who would make a good Sergeant. Gina offers up Yvonne and Heaton agrees to talk to Georgia about her. During her visit, Georgia hints that she’d like to rekindle their affair but when Heaton rebukes the offer, Georgia makes it clear he’ll pay. Georgia tells Heaton she has heard about Yvonne’s unprofessional antics in the street and demands she is suspended. Heaton protests but realises he is left with no choice but to do as he is told.

Later at St Hugh’s Hospital, Diane and Reg are called to deal with a drunk. After tossing a coin, Reg disappears to get coffee and Diane is left to deal with the man who has passed out. She is stunned when looking through his wallet discovers its PC Roger Valentine (JOHN BOWLER) who has been off work with a stress related illness.

Diane slaps Roger awake and he pleads with her to keep quiet about the state he is in. But later, Diane is reprimanded by Sergeant June Ackland (TRUDIE GOODWIN) for not saying anything when she receives a call from St Hugh’s after Roger’s warrant card was found there. Hours later, Roger visits the local off-license and finds himself caught up in an armed robbery. Roger desperately begs the gunman to shoot him. June and Diane both rush to the scene and are horrified when a gunshot rings out…

    spoiler:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At St Hugh’s, Max Little (JOSEPH TRAYNOR) is relieved that his 14-year-old son, Taylor (BOBBY LOCKWOOD), is going to be okay.

Max shouts at his mother Sharon (GILLIAN WRIGHT) for allowing Taylor to get mixed up with her boyfriend, Barry Green’s (RUPERT FARLEY) criminal activity. DC Terry Perkins (BRUCE BYRON) tells Max to go home and let the police sort Barry out.

Terry and Superintendent John Heaton (DANIEL FLYNN) brief the team on Barry and tells them that they know he is planning a deal involving an illegal shipment from Spain but they need to find out when and where the deal is happening.

Terry and trainee DC Kezia Walker (CAT SIMMONS) follow Barry as he pulls into a garage, they wait for him outside and continue following him when he leaves, and it soon turns into a high-speed chase. When the car is eventually pulled over, Terry is furious to discover Barry has swapped cars inside the garage with girlfriend Sharon who has acted as a decoy.

Terry and Heaton question Sharon and when they convince her that Barry is using her and that he has a house which she doesn’t know about, she eventually tells them where he is. But when they reach Barry, they discover Matt has beaten them to it - he has tied Barry’s hands behind his back and is threatening to push him over a bridge onto a busy dual carriageway. Will the cops get there in time to stop Max committing a crime he could later regret?

Meanwhile, PCs Leela Kapoor (SEEMA BOWRI) and Reg Hollis (JEFF STEWART) find a beaten man in the park with head injuries. Leela is forced to start CPR when he stops breathing and he is finally taken away in an ambulance.

Later, Leela is called to the hospital where the man, Jéan Callier (DAMIEN LYNCH) is awake and able to speak to her. She discovers he is a busker and doesn’t care that he has had three hundred pounds stolen. He is very cagey so Leela returns to the station to investigate further. They discover Jean is an illegal immigrant but after bonding with him, Leela is forced to make a tough decision.

Later, in her role as Fed-Rep, Leela meets with suspended PC Yvonne Hemmingway (MICHELE AUSTIN) about her creative use of a car wash power-jet and chat about what happens next. Yvonne admits that she’d rather resign than go through another inquiry with the CPS. Heaton later tells Yvonne that the CPS have agreed to drop the suspension as long as she is disciplined in-house. However, Yvonne is stunned when he tells her that is she is to stay at Sun Hill, she must control her impulsiveness.

Also, after a long day, Terry visits ex-wife, Helen Coles (ANGELA LONSDALE) to discuss their relationship. Married Helen asks Terry what he wants and when he tells her he has never stopped loving her, they share a passionate kiss…

Well said. There are far better characters than them in The Bill. They are not even good detectives. In reality they would have been pushed out of CID long ago for their unprofessional behaviour. The Bill has gone from strength to strength with the departure of that madman Marquess. He was obsessed with just one idiotic character, lets hope the producers dont become obsessed with one particular storyline Lets have more realism and police work

Maybe you picked me up wrong there SNF. By calling him a dinosaur I didnt mean he was old just that he was a good old fashioned non PC peeler. A proper policeman who unfortunately does not fit into the modern day image of Politically Correct Police Work.
