It’s not often we feel sorry for Viv Hope, but being pregnant and isolated from your husband can’t be much fun.
It should be the happiest time of Viv’s life now she’s defied medical science and is with child, but with grief-stricken Bob barely speaking to her Viv plunges into her own world of misery! Over the next few weeks the strain of keeping her secret takes its toll on the pregnant postmistress and she’s going to turn to the bottle for comfort!
While Bob is oblivious to his wife’s turmoil, Viv will begin to drink heavily – and could put her life and that of her unborn baby’s into terrible danger.
But with only her daughter Donna knowing the truth, and her marriage to Bob hanging on by a thread, can Viv find the strength to put down the gin and face up to the future with a clear head?
Viv’s not the only Emmerdale resident dreaming of a better future. Having lost love-of-his-life, Tash, Simon Meredith is feeling deeply depressed and is desperate for a bit of excitement. After making a prat of himself by trying to snog Diane Sugden, Simon thinks things can’t get any worse – until the offer on his house falls through and he loses his job!
Both he and Ivan are left fuming when they are dismissed by boss Matthew King, who is shutting down his independent operation after rejoining King & Sons. With nothing to keep them in Emmerdale the two boys start to dream of travelling outside the country and chasing new experiences.
But with Ivan still toying with the affections of local lovely Toni Daggert, will the duo leave a broken heart behind them?
Finally, Simon and Ivan might be dreaming of pastures new, but Eli Dingle wants to be back in Emmerdale.
The roguish newcomer leaves his brother Marlon next month but is set to return in the autumn for a longer stint. Eli will be filling the gap left by departing bad boy Cain Dingle – who is due to make his explosive exit in September.
And if rumours are to be believed, Eli will follow in his cousin’s footsteps when it comes to Emmerdale’s lovely ladies! Viewers will have noticed the spark between Eli and sex siren Kelly Windsor when he attended the ill-fated show home opening earlier this month.
And with Kelly’s relationship with sugar daddy lover Rodney Blackstock hitting a rocky patch, we wouldn’t be surprised if she looks to Eli to distract her from her troubles…
