Donna works hard to make the night café a success and is furious when the Dingles come in demanding that as they are family they should eat for free.

To make matters worse, Donna finds Shadrach swigging from a bottle of booze in the shop and as she runs after him, he darts upstairs interrupting Viv and Bob seducing one another dressed in naughty attire! In her fury, Donna makes a citizen's arrest.

Over at Home Farm, Pollard is surprised to see Pearl at the Kings’ housing development launch and asks if she is planning in investing in property now. He notes that, firstly, she pleaded poverty, and then she paid off her debts in one fell swoop. He tells her that she can’t blame him for being confused and suggests that she is capable of a spot of pilfering. Pearl is clearly shaken, and she panics further when Edna later quizzes her about where she got the money from. Are Pearl’s lies catching up with her?

Meanwhile, Katie plans a cosy night in with Andy but her plans are ruined when Jo comes home early and helps herself to their wine.

Donna insists that she is pressing charges against Shadrach and a horrified Marlon urges her to reconsider. She refuses to back down and Zak tells her that she must stand before the Dingle court.

Donna finds the whole farce ridiculous and tells them that they better get used to her shopping them because she intends on joining the police. She storms out telling Marlon that he must choose – his family or her?

Over in the Woolpack, Daz works as a glass collector but he cheekily drinks the dregs from the glasses. Jack is annoyed to find that Daz is tipsy and he blames Diane for failing to keep an eye on him.

Meanwhile, as Rodney pays for his goods at the shop, Viv reads aloud an article about a donkey sanctuary that is closing due to council cutbacks. Rodney realises that this could be the way to win votes.

Victoria is fed up of the arguments between Jack and Diane and she cruelly implies to Daz that they are getting divorced. An upset Daz runs off to Seth’s hide and Jack later finds him.

At an all-time low, Daz tells Jack that he plans to put himself back into care. Jack insists that Daz has a home with him and Diane, and suggests that they make it official. How will Diane react when she discovers that Jack has volunteered them as Daz’s guardians?

Meanwhile, Rodney offers to donate money to the donkey sanctuary and arranges for the local paper to take a picture of him with a donkey handing over a large cheque for £20,000. Pollard and Jimmy see the photo call and realising it’s an electioneering stunt, they decide to sabotage Rodney’s efforts as they tell McNally that Kelly is a porn star.

Elsewhere, the Dingles put pressure on Marlon to stop his Mrs from becoming a copper while Diane and Louise also laugh at the very thought of Donna doing such a thing. Marlon gets sick of them mocking his wife and tells them all that Donna is the love of his life and he is right behind her. Donna walks in and overhears, she is thrilled at her husband’s support.

Diane is furious to hear from Victoria that Jack has told Daz that they are going to adopt him. It’s the last thing Diane wants to do, but she can’t bear to break the young lads heart.

Sensing that Diane doesn’t want to be his guardian, he goes to see her and thanks her for everything, saying that he would rather she was his friend than his mother and that he has decided to move back in with Andy and Katie. Diane is moved to tears and Daz hugs her before heading off.

Meanwhile, Rodney is delighted with the coverage in the newspaper and the locals seem to warm to his animal-loving nature. Pollard is fuming and knows that he must get more dirt on Rodney. He sorts through Val’s belongings and finds pictures of Paul dressed as Thelma Louise. What could he be up to?

Elsewhere, DI Carp tells Turner that they must look into Steph’s allegation that Terence is dead. He says that Terence had been spending Turner’s £20,000 bankers draft hand over fist, but all spending seemed to grind to a halt on April 13.

Adam panics when Turner tells him about the investigation and he threatens Steph that if she says one more word about Terence being dead, he’ll make sure she stays in the clinic for good.

Rodney is horrified when a story appears in the Courier stating that his son is a transvestite and his girlfriend is a porn star. Kelly and Paul are hurt, feeling that Rodney has let them down.

A photographer suggests Pollard and Rodney pose for a picture together but when Pollard makes a cutting remark about Kelly, Rodney lamps him and the whole thing is caught on camera.

Elsewhere, Marlon prepares Del and Paddy an aphrodisiac meal and then leaves them to it. They are about to head upstairs when a jealous Toni interrupts them and, knowing exactly what she is doing, hangs around as long as possible. When she eventually goes, will Paddy and Del pick up where they left off?

Meanwhile, Turner finally decides to go and see Steph and, he cuts to the chase, asking her outright if she killed Terence. She sticks to her story that Adam killed Terence, but will he believe her this time?

Viv is sure that she has pregnancy symptoms so announces she is expecting during a family lunch. The stunned family are unconvinced, so Viv rushes to see the doctor for confirmation.

Bob is devastated when Adam explains the test is negative, but refusing to give up, Viv lists her ‘pregnancy’ symptoms. She is horrified when Adam explains it sounds like she’s going through the menopause!

It’s Election Day and Rodney explains to Kelly that he punched Pollard to protect her honour and it has probably cost him his seat on the council. On hearing that Pollard bad mouthed her, Kelly slaps him. The photographer misses the photo opportunity, so she does it again!

Later that day, Rodney admits that his family are more important and tells Pollard that even if he is elected he will resign his seat as his loyalties lie closer to home. He announces that he has bought Holdgate Farm which will soon be opening as a spa and health club managed by Kelly and Paul.

When the votes are counted, Pollard smugly reveals that he has won and tells him not to hold his breath about converting Holdgate Farm into a business. Rodney confidently points out that Val won’t be impressed to hear that Pollard humiliated her son and wouldn’t want his business plans ruined. Pollard knows that Rodney had got him over a barrel!
