Chapter 4
Sam and Phil were driving up and down the road Tolden Road trying to find Emma Mill’s house.
“This is ridiculous,” moaned Phil, “we’ve been driving up and down this road for over 10 minutes now and we still haven’t found her house!”
“Look we’ll try once more ok? I mean it must be here somewhere!”
“Why can’t her house have a number like normal places! I mean who calls their home ‘Daisy House’ anyway?”
“Do you have to be so rude?” complained Sam, “There’s nothing wrong with having a name instead of a number. My home when I was a child had a name.”
“Sorry I’m just fed up of going up and down the same stupid street for ages.” Apologised Phil.
They searched the street once more and still couldn’t find the house so decided to head back.
“So what was your house called then?” Phil asked.
“Oh nothing it doesn’t matter. So anyway,” Sam tried to change the subject, “Do you think Lisa Harrington’s having an affair?”
“Seriously what was it called?” Phil persisted.
“Well if you must know it was called “Princess Cottage”,” Sam answered, predicting Phil’s reaction. Phil couldn’t help but laugh. He couldn’t really imagine Sam living in a place called that. She wasn’t really a princess sort of girl.
“Shut up,” said Sam, giving him a playful punch.
After they’d been driving along for a while, Sam was looking out of the window when she suddenly noticed the name of the road that they were passing. She was rather confused.
“Phil, are we going round in circles or something?” she asked.
“Of course not,” he replied, “Funnily enough I do know my way to the station by now. What makes you think that?”
“Well we’ve just passed Tolden Avenue.”
“And….?” Phil was struggling to see Sam’s point.
“Well isn’t that the road we’ve just been driving up and down for ages?”
“No, that was Tolden Road.”
“Phil you idiot, I said she lived at “Daisy House” on Tolden Avenue,” Sam pointed out, “Avenue not road!”
“No I’m sure you said Road,” he protested.
“Well whatever we’ve been searching the wrong road!” Sam complained. “You’ll have to turn round; Tolden Avenue was just up there.”
When they finally turned onto the correct road they found the house quite easily.
