Jamie arrives back with Mike and it’s clear for all to see how far is health has deteriorated in Spain. His appearance is unkempt, his dress dishevelled and his frailty is shocking as he leans on Jamie for support. As he enters the Rovers he fails to recognise Audrey and Penny is distraught when he doesn’t remember her but asks for Alma instead. The seriousness of his illness sends shockwaves round the street and even Danny is moved as he takes Mike home.
Elsewhere, Ashley is still reeling following his meeting with Matt and as Claire and Joshua make birthday invites, Ashley fails to get into the party spirit. He storms out of the house but when he later returns he admits he’s worried he could begin to hate Josh if he grows up looking like Matt.
Meanwhile Audrey tries to reassure Gail that there’s nothing sinister about the mystery messages. But is Gail starting to believe that Richard Hillman could still be out there?
Eileen struggles to get over Ed and Roy expresses his love for Hayley in a poem.

Ashley and Claire seem to be back on track so Claire is none too pleased to find Matt’s wife Sylvia at the door as soon as Ashley has left for work. Sylvia pleads with her to allow Matt to see Josh but Claire refuses to go behind Ashley’s back, even when Sylvia reveals she and Matt can’t have children of their own. Claire’s relieved as she thinks Sylvia will now leave but the Ramsdens have other ideas and when they spot Joshua playing in the garden, Matt makes his move.
Mike’s health is the talk of the street and Danny makes a doctors appointment for his dad for that evening. But the day isn’t without incident as Mike goes missing from the flat only half dressed. He’s found nearby but Leanne struggles to deal with his confused state and is relieved when Ken and Deirdre call round to visit. Will his oldest friend and love rival be able to make the breakthrough Mike needs?
Elsewhere Mike’s illness has really affected Audrey and as she looks at her life in a new light she tells Maria she still has so much more she wants to do. Has the time come for Audrey to retire?
Becky’s single white female obsession with Kelly continues and Fiz is growing discontented with her lot in life.

Claire screams for help as Matt refuses to put Joshua down. Audrey comes running and is stunned to see Matt. She pleads with him to leave things in the past but Matt won’t listen to anyone and Ashley arrives home to find Matt in his garden. Matt’s defiant but Ashley throws him out threatening him to never come near his family again. Ashley’s furious and as he looks for someone to blame will Claire be in the firing line yet again?
Danny takes Mike to the doctors. He does some basic tests before explaining that he believes Mike has had a stroke in Spain which has accelerated his condition. He stops short of using the word Alzheimers but when he explains Mike will be referred to a neurologist for more tests, Danny is clearly shaken. As they face the terrible prospect together for a moment he’s the caring son but Leanne’s quick to tell Danny they can’t lose it now and must wrestle power of attorney from Mike. How will Mike react to the news?
Elsewhere, Maria’s been thinking about her career, so when Violet tells her she overheard Audrey discussing the possibility of selling the salon, her ears prick up.
Fiz decides she wants to go travelling and Kelly feels uneasy when Becky walks into the Rovers in a new jacket which bears an uncanny resemblance to the one Lloyd just bought for her.

Mike appears fitter than he’s been in days and tells Danny there’s no need to go to the solicitors now. But aware the stakes are high Danny reminds him of the stroke and convinces him to go ahead with the appointment. As they begin the meeting with his solicitor Mike seems lucid and at ease with an old friend. Is he ready to hand over sole control of the business or has Danny fallen at the last hurdle?
Meanwhile, Claire’s upset when Ashley refuses to go with her for her ante-natal appointment. Fred urges him to ease up on Claire but he can’t see beyond the row with Matt and yet again any hopes of a reconciliation are dashed as the gulf between the couple widens.
Elsewhere, Maria wants Kirk to buy her half of the kennels so she can bid for the salon, and Fiz considers night school as a way to bring some more meaning to her life.

Mike causes a stir when he turns up at the factory wearing his pyjama top under his suit. His behaviour is erratic and the girls are forced to call for help. When Danny arrives he finds Mike signing cheques and is forced to remind him he now has power of attorney, which is witnessed by Jamie. But as the family go to the doctors, all is put aside as they receive Mike’s test results - he has been diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease. How will Mike react?
Ashley’s still not talking to Claire but when he gets a call telling him she’s been admitted to hospital with high blood pressure, Ashley races to be by her side. As the couple talk they realise they need to fight together from now on, so how will Claire feel when Ashley reveals he’s had enough of fighting and thinks it’s time for them to get away from Matt and the street?
Elsewhere Maria’s future is in Kirk’s hands as she gives him a pep talk before his meeting at the bank. But when faced by the manger Kirk goes to pieces. Is Maria’s dream of owning the salon slipping away?
