'So the big dinner tonight!' said Malcolm, coming in the door.
'Yeah.' said Johnny.
'What's up John?'
'It's Kian Chester and I can't kill him cos then Stephanie would know!' said Johnny, angrily.
'Then get someone else to do it,' said Malcolm, casually.
'She'll still know though!'
'Run him over.'
'What?' asked Johnny.
'Get someone to run him over, easy.' said Malcolm, stratching his nose.
'Do you think I could get away with it?' asked Johnny.
'Denfiantely - though Steph will be really sad, you'll have to comfort her a lot - she'll be at your beck and call.'
'I don't care - I want to be with her and nothing's going to stop that.' said Johnny.

Part 20: Jean's Sister

'How is she?' asked Katie.
'I dunno - they won't let me see her. Are your parents coming?' asked Naddie.
'No, it's too far away. They might come if it's something serious though.'
'What do you think it is?'
'Maybe pregnancy...' said Katie.
'I suppose.' said Naddie. 'But she's smart - it couldn't happen!'
'She's the type though.'
'And what do you mean by that?' asked Naddie, angrily.
'She's a slut, she always has been.' said Katie.
'She ain't!'
'She is!'
'She ain't - I'm her best friend - I should know!'
'Yeah well she's my sister and she used to come home with a different guy every night!' said Katie, spitefully.
'You liar - your just jealous cos Jeany's got two boyfriends and you've got none!' shouted Naddie.
'What did you just say?' asked Katie, shocked.
'Nothing, I didn't say anything!' said Naddie, her lip trembling.
'So our Jeany has two boyfriends... so many people will be pleased to hear this...' said Katie, smirking.

Part 21: The Saddest Dinner Ever

~ 1988 ~

'Hey babe,' said Johnny, as Steph came through the door.
'Hi!' she said, happily. 'Dad will be here in 10 minutes!'
'Yay!' said Johnny, putting on a big fake smile. 'I can't wait!'
They went into the dining room where Johnny had layed out the table.
'Aww it's beautiful Johnny, the flowers smell lovely and all that expensive china! You must really wanna make an impression on Dad!' said Steph, smiling sweetly.
'Oh I do - I want him to know I'll take good care of his daughter!' he said, feeling guilty knowing Kian could be dead right now.
She giggled and said 'Johnny, you're perfect.'
He giggled back and said 'Stephanie, you're too perfect!'
They talked for 15 minutes when Stephanie said 'He's not here - where is he?'
'I don't know - bad traffic?' he suggested.
'Maybe,' said Steph, looking worried.
It was another 15 minutes when Steph said again 'He's not here - where is he?'
Johnny said 'It's probably just bad traffic or maybe something came up - I'm sure he's fine!' he said, smiling.
'Hmm.' she replied.
When 45 minutes past, Steph got her phone out.
'I'm sure it's nothing Steph.' said Johnny, knowing that the phonecall she was just about to make would change her life forever.
'I don't care Johnny - he's the only family I have left!'
Steph dialled the number and was shcoked when she heard a female voice.
'Is erm Kian there?'
'I'm sorry but Mr Chester died 15 minutes ago - he was in a hit and run.'
Johnny watched Steph break into tears as she slowly hung up the phone.
'Johnny!' she said, flinging her arms round him. 'He's dead!'
Johhny patted her back, as he felt her tears falling on his shoulder.
