Sun editor Rebekah Wade has been released after her arrest for allegedly assaulting her EastEnders star husband Ross Kemp.
Police said she had been freed from custody with no further action to be taken over the alleged assault.
Scotland Yard earlier confirmed that Ms Wade was taken to a south London police station after being arrested in relation to an alleged assault at 4am at an address in south London.
A spokesman for The Sun said it had no comment.
Ms Wade had been due to attend the 50th Women of the Year Lunch this afternoon at the Guildhall, central London.
The couple married in Las Vegas in June 2002.
