    MONDAY

The Mitchell family gather to pay their respects to Aunt Sal, but there are some surprises in store.

The Mitchells all gather to lay Aunt Sal to rest, with Kat worried that Phil won't be able to keep his emotions to himself. Unable to attend the funeral, she sends Alfie in her place, while Sam gives Billy and Ben orders that they have to come along to say goodbye.

Phil, though, isn't convinced by his sister's sudden interest in the family.

Aunt Sal's husband Harold is there, of course, and after greeting the family, he moves everyone - including hard man Phil - to tears with an emotional eulogy paying tribute to his wife.

But it's emotions of a different sort that are close to the surface when Billy's dad Stevie shows up.

Phil's furious to see him there and orders him to leave.

Meanwhile, Sam chats to Harold and she's stunned to discover that Aunt Sal left her, Phil and Grant ?100,000.

    Are her money woes over?

It seems not, because when Sam demands her share of the dough from her brother, he refuses to hand it over.

But Phil might live to regret that, because later on a jealous Alfie reveals to Sam that Phil slept with Emma.

Armed with the juicy information, Sam heads off to Peggy's determined to blackmail her brother into handing over the cash.

    Will her plan work?

Elsewhere, Peter helps Lauren and Penny move into their new flat and he and Lauren debate whether they should get back together.

When Cindy overhears Peter discussing things with his dad, she's unimpressed. She finds Lauren and encourages her to think again, wanting to protect her son from future heartbreak.

There's trouble for Suki when Nish comes home. And she's spooked when Priya reveals that the builders are thinking about relaying the foundations of the cafe.

Suki rushes off to persuade Nish to reconsider his plan to turn the cafe into flats and she's relieved when he agrees.

But there's a bigger shock in store when Denise arrives.

    TUESDAY

Denise is struggling with the events of Christmas Day. Will she cause problems for The Six?

Denise wants to show she's willing to work at her marriage, so she arranges a last-minute couple's counselling session with Jack.

But she's still crippled with thoughts and worries about everything that happened at Christmas. Jack's rattled when he realises Denise isn't listening to their therapist - or him!

Elsewhere, Kathy calls a crisis meeting in the barrel store at The Vic to talk about Denise - and the women are even more worried when Suki reveals Denise has visited Nish.

Is she going to cause trouble for them all?

Later, after another heated discussion with Denise, Jack heads outside to get some fresh air.

He bumps into Stacey who gently digs for information about how her partner-in-crime is holding up.

The pair share a charged moment and it's clear there are still feelings between them.

Elsewhere, Elaine is getting the pub ready for Kat and Phil's joint karaoke birthday party - with some help from Sam.

But fun is far from Phil's mind as he continues to resist Sam's attempts to blackmail him into giving her the money from Aunt Sal.

Later, Kat's worried when she sees Phil and Ben deep in conversation across the Square.

She heads off to confront Ben about what's going on, but he covers for his dad.

At the pub, Phil caves into Sam's demands before he and Kat have a heart-to-heart chat about everything that's been going on.

Their nice moment though is ruined when Sam gets on the mic and reveals that Phil slept with Emma!

    Oops!

Elsewhere, Cindy is rattled to hear that Bobby and Anna are planning a date. So she's pleased when she finds out things haven't gone to plan.

Ian, though, swoops in to help the pair out at the last minute, but it's obvious Cindy's not happy about it.

    WEDNESDAY

Sam Mitchell is forced to face up to the consequences of her actions.

Sam has blackmailed brother Phil into giving her the money left by Aunt Sal, by threatening to reveal the truth about his hook-up with Lola's mum, Emma.

After stubbornly refusing to give in, Phil finally agreed to hand over the wonga and Sam was relieved.

But in true Sam fashion, she decided to spill the beans anyway in dramatic style - at Phil and Kat's joint karaoke birthday party.

As Wednesday's episode begins, a stunned Kat is reeling at the news her husband has cheated on her.

Meanwhile, Sam's not at all popular. In fact, the other residents of Albert Square are horrified by what she's done and treat her with total contempt.

Desperate for some moral support, Sam heads to Jack's place, wanting to see her son, Ricky.

But the rest of the Brannings aren't pleased to see her and make it quite clear that they don't want her there.

And Jack goes a step further when he orders her to leave.

Ricky, though, is worried about his mum. He rushes after her and even interrupts an argument she's having with brother Phil.

Though we have to say that while what Sam did was bad, what Phil did was much worse!

With everyone but Ricky against her, Sam feels lost as to what to do next.

Can she win everyone over and make amends? Or is it too late?

    THURSDAY

Cindy's got some things to say to Bobby Beale.

But with emotions running high and Cindy struggling to forgive Bobby for killing her daughter Lucy, will she go too far when she tells him some home truths?

With Bobby still smitten with Anna, and the youngsters determined to go on a date, despite all their previous mishaps, Cindy's not happy.

She's honest with her stepson and tells him that he's not good enough to date Anna.

Ian and Peter are both horrified by Cindy's harsh words, and so Ian decides to make amends.

He plays matchmaker and books the cute pair a table at Walford East.

But as Bobby waits for Anna to arrive, he's shocked to see Cindy enter instead!

    What will she now?

Meanwhile, guilty Denise is still struggling and after a heart-to-heart with Yolande, she decides to tag along to her community church group.

Denise is pleasantly surprised by how comforting she finds the group.

But will this new-found source of comfort cause her to confess about what The Six did at Christmas?

Elsewhere, Kat's still heartbroken after the revelations about Phil cheating, and knowing the whole Square's talking about it doesn't help her feel any better about things.

She decides to take herself over to The Vic to drink herself into oblivion.

But is that the only bad decision she's going to make?

Meanwhile, Kim is suspicious when she smells perfume on Howie's clothes and decides he must be having an affair.

The BBC has confirmed that EastEnders will have a schedule change next week as the Mitchells gather for a funeral that's going to make certain family members wish they were dead.

Normally, the soap airs one new episode a day from Monday to Thursday, but next week will see FA Cup coverage air instead of the Tuesday instalment. To make up for that, there will be a new episode airing on the Friday night.

The week's episodes will see the Mitchells attend the funeral of Aunt Sal, which is where Sam will learn that Phil slept with Lola's mum, Emma, just days before his marriage to Kat Slater.

After learning about the hefty inheritance that she, Phil and Grant are set to receive from Aunt Sal's will, Sam will use that information to blackmail Phil into giving her his share of the money. As you can imagine, things are sure to get explosive.

Also during the funeral, we'll see the often-referenced Harold Martin, Aunt Sal's (now-surviving) husband, in the flesh for the first time.

Playing the character is David Sterne, who has appeared in everything from Bridgerton and Harry Potter to Pirates of the Caribbean and Vikings.

"Everyone at EastEnders was truly saddened to learn of Anna Karen's passing, and it was imperative that we gave Aunt Sal the send-off she deserved," executive producer Chris Clenshaw said.

"I'm delighted to welcome David Sterne to the guest role of Aunt Sal's elusive husband, Harold Martin, as the Mitchell family gather together to say goodbye."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop
