    Exclamation Joseph Brown (William Flanagan)

Coronation Street's Joseph Brown will be rushed to A&E in upcoming scenes, as his stepmother Gemma fears for his health.

When Joseph complains of a headache, Chesney doesn't believe him and thinks he's just trying to get out of going to school.

However, a more sympathetic Gemma chooses to keep Joseph home anyway, and even takes him to A&E when she worries that his headache might be an indication of something more serious.

Later in the week, Chesney tells Gemma to send his son to school whether he complains of a headache or not.

However, when he gets home to find that Gemma has ignored his advice and kept Joseph home again, he's furious.

Gemma becomes increasingly more concerned when Joseph later tells her his head still hurts, so she leaves the quads with Abi to take him back to A&E.

Is there really something more serious going on with Joseph, or is Chesney right to be sceptical?

It was recently announced that Jacqueline Leonard will be returning to the cobbles to reprise her role as Joseph's maternal grandmother, Linda Hancock, who will reappear at a difficult time for Joseph and the Winter-Brown family.

"Joseph's issues culminate in him falling behind at school," Corrie's executive producer Ian MacLeod told Digital Spy and other media during a recent press call.

"Joseph's fairy godmother turns up in the shape of Linda. She decides that she's going to fix all this and starts throwing money at the situation, which puts Chesney and Gemma in this impossible quandary ? in that by accepting financial help from Linda, they're giving up control of Joseph's life."

Coronation Street's Chesney Winter-Brown faces an upsetting rejection from his son Joseph next week after the truth about the schoolboy's mysterious symptoms is finally revealed.

Chesney bitterly regrets his recent behaviour when doctors give Joseph a diagnosis during another hospital visit.

Late last year, Chesney's wife Gemma took her stepson to hospital twice when Joseph complained about feeling unwell.

Chesney failed to support Gemma when the doctors suggested that she was wasting their time and Joseph was looking for attention.

Next week, Joseph complains that he has a temperature. Although Gemma is concerned, Chesney insists that there's nothing wrong with him.

Gemma's twin brother Paul Foreman also encourages her not to rock the boat, pointing out that she could jeopardise her situation with social services if she causes a fuss.

Refusing to back down, Gemma discreetly shares her concerns with Dr Gaddas when she spots her at the caf?. Chesney overhears and is furious.

Later in the week, Chesney is forced to collect Joseph from school early when he receives a call about his son being unwell.

Back on the Street, Chesney and Linda Hancock ? who has just returned to Weatherfield ? both fuss over Joseph. Suddenly, Joseph collapses on the sofa and comes close to losing consciousness.

Joseph is admitted to hospital and diagnosed with Lyme disease, which he contracted while camping two months ago. Fortunately, the doctor confirms that he should make a full recovery.

When Joseph wakes up, Gemma delivers the happy news that social services have confirmed she can move back home.

Chesney is horrified when Joseph insists that he wants to live with Gemma rather than him, as she was the only one who believed he was ill. Can the family ever move on from this?
