Former Coronation Street and Brookside star Michael Starke will be returning to Hollyoaks as his recurring taxi driver character.

Starke has been popping up in the Channel 4 soap randomly over the last two years, usually during dramatic moments to add a little levity.

It looks as if viewers will be seeing the cabbie back in Chester once again, as his management has confirmed he's been filming on Hollyoaks recently.

Digital Spy understands that Starke will be appearing in a few upcoming episodes, with more details to follow on exactly what his character will get up to.

His first few appearances, in 2021, were tied directly into the on-going family drama that the Osbornes were having at the time.

The taxi driver was an unwilling third party when Nancy realised that Darren was taking her on a romantic date to the same hotel where he'd gone with Mandy during their affair.

The very next day, the cabbie was reunited with Darren when he was hired to drive both him and Mandy to Ella Richardson's plea hearing ? as the teen was facing charges in relation to the stabbing of drugs dealer Jordan.

A few months later, the cabbie was back for another fraught trip as he drove Mercedes McQueen, then-husband Sylver McQueen and Bobby Costello off for an extended stay in Alicante.

The McQueen family would be engulfed in turmoil once the trio returned, as Bobby would ultimately let his stepfather Sylver die in the Salon de Th? explosion a few months later.

Let's hope the cabbie's return trip to Chester is a bit less stressful for him!

Actor Michael Starke is probably best known for playing window cleaner Thomas 'Sinbad' Sweeney for 16 years in Channel 4's Brookside, from 1984 to 2000.

He also memorably appeared in Casualty's Christmas special in 2000, and played Jerry Morton ? head of a very short-lived soap family ? in Coronation Street from 2007 to 2008.
