Casualty just aired its most shocking cliffhanger of the year so far, as Robyn Miller's happy ending has just come crashing down. Literally.
Saturday night's episode (March 11) saw the nurse complete her final shift in the ED after a decade, having decided to move to Wigan with partner Paul and daughter Charlotte.
Unfortunately, Robyn's final day at Holby didn't quite pan out as she hoped, thanks to her ongoing problems with boss Jacob.
As Robyn celebrated treating her final patient at the hospital, she was thrown a curveball when Jacob asked her to stay a few hours longer.
Despite her reservations, Robyn took pity on a stressed Jacob ? especially after learning that there's been a major incident at a fairground ? and agreed.
Throughout the day, Jacob continued to ruffle feathers among his team with his controversial decisions and refusal to bring in agency staff.
Having kept Robyn on shift for longer than intended, Jacob then interrupted her leaving party to tear the rest of the nurses away.
Jacob explained that there has been a major incident, and he needed all hands on deck, once again dismissing David's queries about bringing in extra help.
The final straw for Robyn came when he publicly berated her for overriding her instructions regarding a patient's boyfriend.
Fed up of Jacob's sudden lack of empathy, Robyn finally stood up to him over his lack of empathy of late, but was left devastated when Charlie failed to support her.
Hurt that she'd given so much to the hospital, and had so little in return, Robyn departed the ED under a cloud.
Unfortunately, this wasn't the last we'd see of her. Not long after, the paramedics learned that there had been a RTA nearby but they didn't have any ambulances to send to the scene, due to the ongoing chaos in the ED.
The closing moments of the episode showed that Robyn had been involved in the accident in question, with her life now hanging in the balance.
Next week's top secret scenes will explore the aftermath of this as Robyn is rushed into the ED in a perilous state.
While spoilers for the episode are scarce, a familiar face from Holby City is brought in to help revive her. The Kellar and Darwin wards still exist in Holbyverse, despite Holby ending last March, and fans who kept a close eye on the latest Casualty trailer will know that Sacha Levy is the returning character in question. But will he be able to save Robyn, or is the ED about to lose one of their own?
That remains to be seen but loyalties are called into question as the team reaches breaking point in high-stakes scenes, which could change everything.
