40 Years of Breakfast TV in the UK

40 years wow, where does the time go, I remember watching the first Breakfast Time on 17 January 1983 at 6:30 am with Frank and Selina and then on the 1st Feb watching TV-am when that started with the famous five. I had a sweatshirt with Breakfast Time and TV-am on, sad I know. I always fancied Francis Wilson.

I liked Breakfast Time when it began, such a shame the BBC ditched this format in 1986, a big mistake. I tended to flutter from BBC One to TV-am depending what was on. I switched to TV-am fully from 1987 when Breakfast Time went too newsy. TV-am were the real winners in the 1980's as it out sofared the BBC with the help of Anne and Nick and of course that little rat Roland.

I wonder if ITV will mark the 1 Feb with TV-am?

Now it's TV-am's turn. On Wednesday 40 years ago with the famous five. It began 1 February 1983.
