A couple of TV WEEK articles:

"After discovering wayward teen Brent Colefax hiding in their shed, Aaron and David realise he's been sleeping rough. They try to find out more about what's going on but Brent runs away. Aaron is concerned about why he's there. He's in a bad way and the boys are keen to help.

The boys launch a search for him but it's Paul who discovers Brent in the Lassiters Complex and isn't at all happy to see him there. Paul just sees him as a bag of trouble and when he finds him sleeping rough, he's quick to give him the heave-ho and send him packing.

Paul's dismissive attitude doesn't sit well with his son David who's furious with him for how he treated Brent, especially after his rocky past. Paul tries to cover up his mistake but cops an earful from David.

David points out how his dad only sees the surface of Brent and not how troubled and afraid he is, living on the streets because of the lack of housing for kids like him.

Meanwhile, Brent's brother Emmett comes back to look for his sibling. While the brothers are reunited, there's no room for Emmett at the emergency accommodation. With Brent's well-being in mind, Aaron and David step up and invite him to live with them until accommodation becomes available. Paul, however, thinks the couple are making a big mistake. Will David forgive Paul for his uncaring attitude towards Brent?"

    "Date with Destiny

To support Erinsborough Council's 'Change the Date' campaign, Terese has declared that Lassiters won't be celebrating Australia Day this year.

Although Terese is happy with the decision, she hasn't always supported the idea of changing the date of Australia Day. So when Tim Collins uncovers her former opinions on the subject and releases them to the public, she is mortified.

Terese is disappointed by her past statements. She no longer stands by her comments but knows she has to take responsibility for the things she's said.

After chatting to Erinsborough Council member Jacinta Hay, Terese realises how damaging her past comments are for the community. She decides to give a heartfelt apology to publicly show her support for the 'Change the Date' initiative.

Terese knows she must take accountability for her past actions and after speaking to Jacinta knows that apologising is very important."

    Digital Spy article:

Neighbours to air return storyline for David and Aaron's foster child Emmett Donaldson
His big brother Brent is also back.

    https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/nei...-foster-child/

Neighbours spoilers follow for UK and Australian viewers.

Neighbours is set to air a return storyline for David Tanaka (Takaya Honda) and Aaron Brennan's foster child, Emmett Donaldson (Ezra Justin).

TV Week reports the Australian soap will welcome back the troubled youngster in scenes set to air in Australia next week and hit UK screens in late February.

After finding Emmett's brother Brent Colefax (Texas Watterston) sleeping rough in their shed, David and Aaron (Matt Wilson) are sucked back into trying to help Brent once again, much to Paul's annoyance.

And, pretty soon, Brett's return to Erinsborough makes room for Emmett's.

Emmett's shock return follows Paul (Stefan Dennis) seeking out Brent in the Complex and sending him away, deepening his rift with David.

Despite leaving Ramsay Street to go and live with his aunt in New Zealand last year, Emmett then reappears to help the search for his brother ? much to David and Aaron's surprise.

After successfully reuniting the brothers, Emmett remains concerned about Brent, as there's no room in emergency accommodation for him to stay.

Could Aaron and David be the solution?

Aaron was previously punched by Brent in a row over Harlow. David and Aaron also worried he was a bad influence on Emmett.

Neighbours airs these scenes next week on 10 Peach (Australia) and late February on Channel 5 (UK).

Meanwhile, Hendrix is terrified at having received a death threat from Kane. Jay suggests a desperate plan ? Hendrix should steal the diamond necklace that Pierce bought for Dipi and use it to pay back the debt.

Meanwhile, despite their happiness, Jane and Clive are mindful not to cause further hurt to Sheila, trying to be as discreet as possible. But when David is caught in the crossfire of Sheila's fury, his sense of injustice is piqued and he challenges Jane and Clive not to let her unfairly dictate their lives.

Elsewhere, a sympathetic Roxy encourages Sheila not to give up on Clive as he's her great love. Twisting the talk she and Jane had the other day, Roxy intimates that Jane's great love is Des. Sheila is inspired by this and calls Des. What trouble is Sheila brewing?

Some (more) weird writing this week.

They are all mad at Nicolette for setting it up so Chloe walked in on Dipi and Pierce? They should be grateful to her for bringing it out in the open. If anyone is to blame it is Pierce and Dipi, which we've already done. Telling is one thing but they wouldn't have believed her, so showing her is the only way. Paul says Nicolette caused two families to implode. Riiight. Just keep bad things secret then so everyone can pretend to be happy.

And the hypocrisy angle with Terese. 5yrs. Views are allowed to change, and the mood around 26 Jan has definitely changed and support for Change the Date has grown in that time. Tim Collins is the bad guy for dragging it up to shame her, not Terese for trying to grow as a person in that time. Having the Councilwoman explain the issue was good though.

Edit: Both were clearly set ups for the final few scenes (Tuesday) but Terese doesn't need to be shamed into making that speech. She's accused of pandering but being shamed into a public statement IS pandering. Eliminate the Tim Collins bit, have Terese meeting the Councilwoman to talk it through and then she could just make the speech in support of the Change the Date movement. Nicolette exposing the affair didn't need to be the extra heat for Paul vs Nicolette, that was already established due to the baby issues.

What a painful episode of virtue signalling. It dilutes the characters and the drama. Terese doesn't strike me as someone who would walk on eggshells and pander to identity politics. It would have been far more interesting if she resisted the enforced, unwarranted guilt (in that none of us had any part in what happened in 1788) of the far left and, if I presume to speak on the actor's behalf, it would be far more interesting to delve deeper into the heart of that storyline than the cringeworthy, ingratiating obsequiousness we saw in this episode. Terese asking "How did I do?" when that Indigenous character is watching her statement was woeful and undoes a lot of work Elmaloglou has performed to create such a dynamic character; she's now a mere slave to the writers' politics.

Jason Herbison has done rather well embracing the Neighbours legacy and his love for the show is palpable... but his misguided focus on identity politics and 'television firsts' is starting to overwhelm that... And to be honest it's making me feel like it's time for him to go.

I can't stand Nicolette but she did the right thing although for the wrong reasons, motivated not by doing the right thing but by wanting to break up Pierce and Chloe. It's certainly no ones fault except Pierce and Dippy they are the ones who caused all of the pain
