Tasha tells Flynn the answer to her problems is investment! She gets rid of the money and the investment will bring in more! Flynn tells Irene Tasha would be better off saving the money for her education, but Irene doesn’t think Tasha’s the uni-going sort. She reckons the real world is just as good a university as any. Flynn gives in.

Brooke and baby Charlie are finally in Summer Bay. And while Kim is over the moon, Hyde is not. Everyone’s fussing over the new arrivals (except VJ, who’s a little jealous); while all Hyde wants is a private chat with Brooke. He tells her he’s had a change of heart. Their plan was that Brooke would come to Summer Bay and let Kim know that he wasn’t wanted in her life. She has to do it over a period of time because Kim is not the kind of person who can be told to do something he doesn’t want to do. Now Hyde’s relationship with Kim has changed for the better, he doesn’t want to hurt him. Brooke tells Hyde to stick to his part of the plan!

Meanwhile Matilda is trying to get Hyde listen to her plan of self-defence classes for the girls at school. He just brushes her off with a firm ‘no’.
Tasha can’t figure out what to invest in. Robbie puts his foot in it when he suggests in front of Irene that Tasha put the money in the stock market. ‘She should be good at that because it’s in her genes’. Oops! Now Irene knows Tasha has told Robbie the identity of her Dad. Irene tells Tasha she’s fine with that, as long as Tasha is happy.

Tasha finds the perfect way to spend her money – give it to Irene to set up a business! Irene is touched, but refuses. She only helped Tasha out of love. If she takes the money it might make people think otherwise. But Tasha is adamant this is a good idea. She decides to sit in the Diner all day until Irene gives in. Finally, after umpteen cups of coffee, Irene can’t stand to see her sit there any longer. She gives her 15-minutes to come up with a great idea.

Flynn has some good news for Alf: the tumour is not back. But he is displaying classic symptoms of depression. Alf is outraged! But Flynn emphasises that depression doesn’t mean ‘crazy’. Alf is even more thrown when Colleen snoops through his medical card and comes to the Diner to tell him that she’s one person who can help him. She’s been through depression and she’s here to tell him he’s not crazy! Alf is furious. He throws Colleen out of the shop and threatens to lynch Flynn for telling her. Irene calms him down and asks if he really thinks Flynn would tell Colleen? Alf realises Colleen was snooping. Suddenly Alf breaks down. Everything is falling apart. Something has to change. He just wants to sell this whole place and get out!

Tasha’s ears prick up. She asks him if he’s serious. ‘Yes’, he says, as Tasha pumps his hand. She wants to buy the Diner!

Kirsty has been avoiding her family after finding out that Rhys kissed Shelley. But today is the first day of school and she no longer has the coward’s option. After eluding Max with a very unsubtle effort, she decides to stop running away from the issue; she confronts Rhys at the Kiosk.

He decides to confess. He says that when he started loving Beth, he hadn’t stopped loving Shelley. The truth is that Shelley is the ‘great’ love of his life. While he does love Beth, it’s a different kind of love. All he asks from Kane and Kirsty is that they not tell Beth a thing. He wants to be the one to tell her, but he needs time to think everything through. Kirsty agrees, but Kane is furious. He reckons Rhys has played on Kirsty’s gullibility. He’s conned her.

Meanwhile Alf tells Tasha he was never serious about selling her his share in the Diner. She teams up with Kim to workshop new ideas – completely cutting Robbie out of the picture. Poor Robbie’s feeling shunned by the both of them.
But Alf has a change of heart. Suddenly he feels great! He tells Flynn he might not need those depression pills after all. Flynn warns him not to make any life-changing decisions when he’s on such a high. Alf disregards this and promptly tells Irene that he’s serious about selling the Diner! He wants her to put forward a business proposal.

Colleen thinks Alf has revealed her little secret to Flynn (that she looked at Alf’s medical file). She offers to resign. In fact she urges him to sack her. Flynn says she’s got one last chance – but she has to stop acting unprofessionally!

Kane agrees not to tell Beth (about the kiss) for Kirsty’s sake. But his anger mounts until he can take it no more. He visits the Kiosk to confront Rhys and asks him for one thing: a handshake. He wants a guarantee from Rhys that he’ll never hurt Beth. Rhys refuses! He says that although most of the men in Kane’s life would have shaken his hand to shut him up, he won’t. He knows he’d be lying. He’d like to guarantee Beth won’t get hurt, but he can’t even make that promise to himself!
