There is one question on every Home And Away fans' lips this week: Who is Witness X?

Angelo's determination to find Ross' killer has been unwavering since he returned to Summer Bay. And his mission has led him dangerously close to the killer ? beloved cop, Colby.

Trying everything to keep Angelo off his case, including an illicit affair with his wife Taylor, has failed.

Now, Angelo is convinced Colby is the criminal and he's found a very mysterious someone to prove it by testifying against him.

Theories are already swirling amongst devoted fans with one name in particular gaining traction - Colby's ex wife, Chelsea, who was played by Ashleigh Brewer.

Fans may recall the gorgeous fellow cop left Colby and town, not long after they tied the knot. Having learnt the truth about the murder and Colby's part, Chelsea couldn't stay and keep his secret.

So could she be Witness X?

In the tantalising trailer for this week's bombshell episodes, we see Colby come face to face with Witness X. The only clue about their identity comes in the sound of heels entering his cell, indicating they are a woman.

"I bet it's Colby's ex wife," one fan commented, while another added: "A witness is someone who sees, hears or knows. It may well be Chelsea."

Before a third wrote: "Ex-wife is more than likely, and she would be a credible witness as she's a cop."

Further fuelling the theory fire is an inconspicuous post from actress Sam Frost, who plays Jasmine on the show.

The 31-year-old took to Instagram just yesterday to share a photo with both Courtney Miller, who plays Bella, and Ashleigh.

While there is a chance the photo was just a flashback to when Ashleigh was last on set playing Chelsea, the uncanny timing has fans, and us, very suspicious.

Is this wishful thinking or a huge clue?

We're hoping for the latter.
