The Weatherfield police couldn't even locate Craig if he was sitting in their canteen.

Coronation Street has scheduled in an hour-long episode next month.

ITV has revealed that it will air in a full-hour slot between 7.30pm and 8.30pm on Friday, September 11, which is during the same week EastEnders will return to screens on BBC One.

However, a direct head-to-head clash has been avoided in spite of Coronation Street extending to an hour because the BBC has moved the regular EastEnders timeslot from 8pm to 8.30pm on the night.

This hour-long slot means Corrie will technically be airing four episodes during the week of September 7, in a first since transmission schedules were altered in March due to COVID-19.

ITV previously announced that it will begin resuming regular schedules of six episodes per week for both Coronation Street and Emmerdale by mid-September.

The channel explained in a statement that it would be able to resume its regular transmission because both soaps "continued to film safely whilst adhering to the health and safety guidelines issued by the film and TV industry".

ITV has also paid tribute to the "dedicated and hard-working production teams, crews, writers, and actors" who have worked during the pandemic to keep Coronation Street and Emmerdale on screens for their loyal viewers.

A break in filming did cause some continuity issues initially, but many of those have largely been ironed out and the older cast members are even back to filming new scenes.

For now, Coronation Street continues airing on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV, in addition to Coronation Street: Icons specials airing on Wednesdays at 8.30pm on ITV.

Tim and Sally are still at loggerheads. Geoff assures Tim that he is the innocent party and a weary Tim promises his dad that he believes him.

Sally confides in Cathy about the CCTV and Cathy tells her that any footage will be on Geoff's laptop. Sally tells Faye that she wants to get a book for Yasmeen so she can get the keys.

Spying Geoff's laptop, Sally puts it in her bag just as Geoff returns. Will he believe her story for being there?

Meanwhile, as Dev shows an estate agent round the kebab shop, Asha and Aadi exchange worried looks. Cathy and Bernie are shocked to realise they could be out of work, while Mary is deeply concerned. Dev asserts that he has to put the welfare of his family first.

Later, Dev is furious to catch Asha and Corey kissing in the ginnel.

Elsewhere, Shona spends the day with David in the salon causing problems with customers. David bites his tongue. David leaves Shona in Victoria Garden with Lily while he goes to buy ice lollies for the kids, but things take a dangerous turn.

Also today, Daniel confides in Adam how he's worried about Nicky. Adam says she's a prostitute, she can look after herself and he's better off without her.

Finally, a downbeat Imran tells Toyah that his assessment with social services didn't go as well as he'd hoped and he worries he may have scuppered their chances.

Having escaped from the house, Sally shouts for help and a bemused Tim takes her home. She tells him that she has taken Geoff's laptop and wants to try and view the CCTV footage.

With Faye's help, they try to download the deleted camera app and CCTV footage. Is the game finally up for Geoff?

Later, the police arrive at Number 4 and tell Geoff new evidence has come to light and they need to ask him some more questions.

Meanwhile, after the issue with Shona and Lily, David asks Roy to collect her and confides in Sarah that he worries Shona will never return to normal. Sarah says she will try to help.

Elsewhere, Nina calls to see Asha and gently suggests that she can do much better than Corey, she should be herself and then the right boy will come along.

Later, Chesney has heard about the sale of the kebab shop and points out that his family rely on Dev for a living. Asha blames herself, aware that her school fees are financially affecting her dad.

Also today, Nicky calls at Daniel's flat and to his relief, agrees that they can be friends.

    Hour-long episode

When David discovers from Nina that Shona is planning to leave because she thinks he hates her, he decides to arrange a BBQ to persuade her to stay.

Shona and Nina join David, Sarah, Sally and Lily for the barbecue. Suddenly there's an almighty crash and a huge crater appears in the middle of the garden. Everyone gazes into the hole, completely stunned.

Colin, the engineer from the water company, surveys the hole. He breaks the news to David that as a result of the sinkhole, the house is unstable and he'll have to find somewhere else to live.

Shona is excited when Ray offers to put them all up at one of his hotels.

Meanwhile, a heartbroken Tim is worried for Elaine's safety and resolves to track her down. Having spotted Tim, Geoff hurries over.

Later, Tim returns from Bolton and tells Sally, Alya and Imran that there was no sign of Elaine and judging by the pile of post on the mat, she hasn't been there for a while. Tim tells Alya how sorry he is for failing to see that she was right about Geoff all along.

Elsewhere, as Nick, Leanne and Steve make preparations for their holiday in Cornwall, they're interrupted by the sound of Oliver's seizure alarm, meaning a trip to the hospital.

As Nick and Steve wait in the hospital corridor, they're taken aback when Nick's ex, Natasha approaches. When Nick reveals that he's waiting for news of his stepson, Natasha says she is there for a dermatology appointment.

Later, the doctor breaks the news to Nick, Leanne and Steve that Oliver has been moved to intensive care and put on life support. Whilst Leanne remains adamant that he'll pull through, Nick and Steve don't share her optimism.

Also today, when Aadi returns home to find Asha entertaining Corey, he is in a quandary about what to do. Asha leaves a message for Dev, telling him. Dev returns home and rails at Asha for seeing Corey behind his back.

Finally, Billy confides in Sean that he fears Kel is dead and worries how the news could affect Paul.
