Next week on Casualty, Lev is forced to reflect on his past, while Charlie makes a decision and Jan's wife Ffion makes her first appearance.

Here are six of the biggest spoilers...

1. Lev bonds with a patient...

Viewers will be learning more about paramedic Lev Malinovsky next week, as the show begins to delve into his backstory.

When Lev is called to a shout involving a patient called Evgeny, who’s been stabbed, he’s delighted to find that he is a fellow Russian.

As the pair bond over their similar heritage, Lev is plagued by difficult memories from his childhood.

2... And confronts his traumatic past

Having connected with a patient of similar heritage, Lev starts to reflect on his traumatic past.

As Lev and Evgeny share stories from Russia, Lev is disturbed to remember a time when he protected his young friend from bullying, only to be scolded by an older boy for making himself a target.

It's clear that Lev’s childhood in Russia was far from happy, but viewers will have to tune in next Saturday to find out more.

Last year, show boss Loretta Preece spotlighted Lev as someone to keep an eye on throughout the series, suggesting that his ongoing journey would bring us one of the biggest stories of the year. And she wasn't wrong.

3. Ffion is finally here

Fans have been waiting patiently for this ever since the news was announced earlier this year, and Ffion will be finally be making her long-awaited debut next week.

Coronation Street star Stirling Gallacher has been cast in the role as Jan's police officer wife Ffion, who will be showing us a whole new side to the feisty paramedic.

Ffion will be making her first appearance on the day of her and Jan's wedding anniversary, but their celebrations quickly descend into disaster.

4. Fenisha puts her foot in it

Despite her fraught relationship with Jan, Fenisha attempts to bond with Ffion when they amid a stabbing investigation.

Ffion is intrigued to meet the woman her wife has been complaining but, Fenisha quickly puts her foot it in it once again by revealing that Jan had been frantically organising this dinner all day. Awkward.

5. Jan puts work before her relationship

As you're about to see, Jan relationship with Ffion is pretty solid, but there's one minor issue: work invariably comes first. For one of them, anyway.

After forgetting to buy an anniversary present for Ffion, Jan scrambles around trying to organise a last minute dinner date for the two of them, having fibbed that it’s already booked.

When Ffion realises the truth (thanks, Fenisha!), she's hurt by her wife's lie, but things later go from bad to worse when Jan misses the dinner completely.

Thankfully, Ffion is understanding but does insist that Jan is honest about her priorities and to stop pretending she's something that she isn't. Could Jan's work-orientated life drive a wedge between them?

6. Charlie makes a big decision

As Charlie gets reacquainted at work, it’s clear to him that Jacob has worked at managing the department in his absence.

After connecting with gambling patient, Charlie start the revaluates the part of nursing he thrives in.

Realising that his talents lie in helping and listening to patients, Charlie tells Jacob that he has decided to step down as clinical nurse. Will Jacob agree to take on the role instead?
