Emmerdale has confirmed details of its first Euro 2020 schedule changes.

The ITV soap will be airing at different times than usual throughout the football tournament, which begins on June 11.

Emmerdale will start to be affected in the week commencing Monday, June 14, when the show gets slightly less screen time than usual.

Rather than the usual six episodes, Emmerdale will instead have two hour-long broadcasts and one 30-minute edition throughout that week.


The first Emmerdale of the week will air on Monday, June 14 between 8pm and 9pm.

Emmerdale will then be off-screen until Wednesday, June 16, when it airs for 30 minutes from 6.45pm.

Emmerdale then returns on Thursday, June 17, with an hour-long episode between 8pm and 9pm.

No episode will air on Friday, June 18.

Further schedule changes will take place beyond this, but these have yet to be confirmed.

The good news for Emmerdale fans is that they won't have to wait for these TV broadcasts if they don't want to.

As announced earlier this week, ITV Hub will be premiering Emmerdale episodes early for a four-week period during Euro 2020. Episodes will be available to stream each Monday, before they go out on ITV.

This means that all three of the week's episodes can be watched at fans' convenience from June 14 via the Hub, or viewers can choose to wait until they air on TV in the usual way.

Emmerdale bosses have promised some big storylines for Kim Tate, Faith Dingle, Tracy Metcalfe, Meena Jutla, Bernice Blackstock and Leyla Harding this summer, as the village's female characters take centre stage.

The show will also have its first ever Pride festival, featuring a guest appearance from Drag Race UK winner The Vivienne.

Hour-long episode

Aaron and Ben arrive at Sandra's caravan to find Liv in the throes of a seizure. It turns out that this is Liv's second seizure in two days.

Sandra is disturbed as she realises just how self-destructive Liv's recent behaviour has been.

Meanwhile, Wendy reluctantly reveals the rest of the story to Victoria. She's left utterly stricken as she puts the pieces together. The repercussions of Wendy's honesty leave Vic, Luke and herself devastated. Will they be able to recover from this?

Elsewhere, Meena covers her tracks with David.

Also today, Leyla's desperation to marry Liam is mirrored by Bernice's determination to stop the wedding from happening.
