Jacob faces a difficult challenge, Ruby struggles with motherhood and Connie makes a new enemy.

Here's a full collection of all the biggest stories you can look forward to:

1. Jacob tackles a difficult case

Still trying to coming to terms with Mason’s death, Jacob is thrown into a huge, new dilemma when Ryan and Dante – members of opposing street gangs – are admitted to the ED with injuries.

As he becomes embroiled in the pair's complex – and highly dangerous – worlds, Jacob eventually manages to connect with Ryan, who reveals the efforts he's gone to try and break free from the cycle of gang violence he's trapped in.

Although Jacob hopes he has made progress with the duo at the end of a difficult shift, he's frustrated to later learn that that Dante is still planning revenge on his sister's attacker regardless. Deflated, Jacob is forced to walk away and leave him to it.

2. Ruby struggles with her responsibilities

Having agreed to temporarily care for her baby niece Harmony, Ruby will start to crack under the pressure of new motherhood next week.

As her housemates Jade and Marty complain about being kept awake all night, Ruby struggles to find the right balance between her professional and personal life while rejecting offers of support from her concerned colleagues.

To make matters worse, Ruby is also finding it hard to properly connect with an unsettled Harmony and begins to fear she's made a massive mistake. Can anyone reassure her? Maybe...

3. Lev comes to the rescue

Noticing Ruby's struggle, Lev eventually comes to his colleagues and insists she's more than capable of looking after Harmony by herself.

As Lev offers his support to Ruby, he gives her a much-need boost of confidence as he urges her to keep going. Will she listen?

4. Jacob makes a shock confession

When Jacob's gang-member patient Ryan collapses from a hidden internal injury, the ED team immediately spring to action to save his life.

Despite being relieved when Ryan eventually pulls through, an unnerved Jacob later confides in Lev that, for a moment, he didn't actually care what happened to him. Lev is quick to pacify Jacob with some home truths and reassurance, but is Jacob at the end of his tether?

5. Archie gets a big opportunity

Archie's year is about to get off to a good start when she is visited by Megan Harrison, an ophthalmology surgeon specialising in cutting-edge 'Tooth in Eye' surgery.

Megan explains that she is currently heading a project in the Sudan and wants to hear more about Archie's ED based initiative.

Archie is undeniably flattered by the attention (and not necessarily all in a professional capacity, either!) and becomes determined to prove herself to this potential new mentor. But not everyone is happy about it...

6. Connie makes a new enemy

With Connie desperate to win Archie round after their difficult history, it won't come as much of a surprise to hear that she is less than impressed by Megan's interference.

Connie is rattled to hear that Megan has approached Archie with an offer and she's soon going head to head with the newcomer over a patient's treatment in the ED. Has Connie made a new enemy?

7. Ruby and Archie team up

When Gloria – a headstrong, elderly patient – has a fall at home, Ruby and Archie team up when they suspect that the bruising on her arms could indicate domestic abuse.

As Archie and Ruby work together to try and solve the mystery of Gloria's injuries, they're alarmed to discover that she is actually blind but hasn't told anyone.

Archie and Ruby feel for Gloria as she explains her fears of having to move out of her home, but can they help
